Wow!! I don’t think any other movie produced as many superstars as The Outsiders… loved that movie
And while the biggest one had a very limited role, the actor whose character seems to be the focus of the film, has been relegated to obscurity. The Hitcher, is a great film though and what I will most remember, C. Thomas Howell from.
Wish Patrick was with us today.
cigarettes, don't smoke em kids
@@tynao2029 You're so right. Swayze had it all: dancing, acting, roller skating, singing, gymnastics, sports, pilot's license, beautiful wife...and he wanted to smoke too. It doesn't work that way.
Mee too.
Smoking cigarettes and pancreatic cancer …..ya might as well he ate too much fish and the caused the cancer or had one to many vaccines injections
yep, probably in a much better place though
Ralph macchio literally never ages, look how small and young his character was in this movie, yet he was 21 and older than Matt Dillon portraying a much bigger guy and older character at 19
Johnny Cade is supposed to be 14.
@@fabianofonda6758 16
OTOH, Howell looks a little rough for his age at 56.
Ghoztly 709, Italian genetics age like fine wine.
I caught Howell on Ray Donovan and Southland, he didn't age well.
Loads of big names in this movie. RIP PATRICK AND WILLIAM
I loved this movie growing up. The casting was impeccable as there was perfect chemistry with all of the actors. I love how the ending transitioned into Stevie Wonder singing "Stay Gold" just a perfect song for such a timeless classic.
I was a teenager in the 80’s, born in and living mostly in small town Oklahoma. It was kind of a matter of pride that a movie was made about our birthplace with so many up-and-coming actors. I rewatched the Outsiders recently, 3 decades later, and it still holds up as a great period piece.
One of my favorite movies of my youth thank you for taking me back to this movie.
40th Anniversary of The Outsiders 1983-2023 Rest in Peace Patrick Swayze 🙏 😢
One of my all time favorite movies, it had so many great actors in it!
C Thomas Howell is pretty much the youngest so why does he look 20 years older than everyone else?
Dang, I was wondering that too, just shocked by his appearance!
Well it doesn't help that he has let his hair go white. If he dyed his hair he would look much younger.
Yeah...
@@Alexs.2599 craggy face too!
@@thesaintst1851 A bit yes. Also it's a bad photo of him as well.
This video did William Smith, the store clerk who shot Dallas played by Matt Dillon, no favors. William Smith was an extraordinary man. He grew up on a cattle ranch, moved to Hollywood to act, and then joined the air force where he became a world Arm Wrestling and weight lifting champion. He held a 31-1 record as an amateur boxer, was fluent in Russian, German, French, English, and Serbo-Croatian. During the Korea War, as a Russian Intercept Interrogator, Smith flew secret ferret missions over the Russian SFSR. The man was truly a badass, and he was recruited by the NSA, later gaining top secret clearance working for both the NSA and CIA. After his military tour, Bill continued the education he began while in the service, studying at Syracuse University, the University of Munich, the Sorbonne in Paris, and finally at UCLA where he graduated Cum Laude with a Master’s degree and worked toward a Doctorate. Bill would also later teach at UCLA, and even served as a volunteer fireman, fighting California wildfires.
I don't think this video was meant to be a bio about William Smith.
@@willm623 It was supposed to be a look at the cast of the movie. He was in the movie, dumdum. Now move along.
@@greggburke7796 He WAS featured in this video. Who's the dumdum?
Let’s cancel
Him
That’s some bio! I best remember William Smith as the antagonist in Red Dawn, another 80s classic that featured several other actors from The Outsiders.
I lived in Tulsa in 1982 and watched part of the rumble scene as it was being filmed. My friends and I were leaning over the retaining wall of an overpass, giggling and pointing out "the cutest". Little did we know...!!!
Thats super awesome!
I got to go to the private screening that was held in Tulsa. These people are short! Also sum fan from Tulsa had a fundraiser and had the house repaired
Stay gold!
I cant even talk about this movie without crying!
Ralph looked like a 12 year old when he was in his 20s
Sofia Coppola was in the movie - asking for change in the Windrixville Dairy Queen parking lot
Should have included S.E. Hinton, the author of the book the movie is based on,. She played the nurse at the hospital that Dallas gets snarky with
1983..The year I was born, and I turned 40 last week. Time flies. 😆
Oh perfect day trip for me to go to the museum! I loved this movie. It is so amazing to look back and see so many up and comers.
I was working at The Taproom in Tulsa when this was being filmed. The actors used to come to the bar quite a bit. Of course we had NO clue who they were.
I was in the 7th grade when this Wonderful movie came out. I loved it so much and every single actor and actress on the set...❤ They all done so well for themselves over the years...SE Hinton wrote the book The Outsiders and she got to play as the Nurse in the Outsiders also .
For their individual future successes this must be one of the top casts ever put together
one of my 80s crushes Miss Diane Lane, saw her in the movie Lady Beware....
Is amazing how Ralph Macchio doesn't seem to age at same pace as everyone else, yet he's pretty much one of the oldest
Well folks with lighter skin color seem to age quicker than those with olive skin color.
I've always appreciated the filmmakers who did justice to S.E.Hinton books. And I love that she always had a small role in the movies
C. Thomas Howell looks way older than 56.
C Thomas Howell has survived a major medical trauma a few years ago that almost killed him - that can age a person. But he’s lucky to be alive. Also, those happen to be exceptionally bad photos.
I love this movie, and all the actors who succeeded in their movie careers. This is a classic that should be shown to all teenagers.
I remember people saying that the book was a must read in a lot of schools
I’m still shocked that Swayze got the Chippendales job over Farley!
Lmao! I forgot about that!
40th anniversary wow!😳
It’s crazy how Ralph Macchio is older than most of them and looks the youngest lol
This movie has become a major hit in the last 40 years. This was Ralph Maccios best role IMO. While he's been good in Other films, like the Karate Kid I still think this one stands out the most.
Agree.
The one where he plays guitar against the devil is f**king awesome as well. I believe it’s called Crossroads. Not to be confused with the dud film Britney Spears made of the same name 😅🤨🙄
I can’t think of another movie with such a large collection of AA List stars. Great cast, great movie.
I lived in Tulsa while that movie was being made, worked with a guy at CCC on Peoria that lived in that house, they rented it from him, he was paid well for the time they used the house. Remember driving down the expressway and seeing the drive in theater that was used in the movie, they asked anyone that had cars from that era to park them at the theater, place was full of vintage cars, cool to see. Matt Dillon made another movie around the same time that was also made in Tulsa.
My second wife lived in Tulsa around the time they filmed this,, I went to Tulsa with her not too long before she died and she showed me the park where they filmed the rumble and also took me by the Admiral Twin drive in where they filmed those scenes,I loved this movie growing up so it was cool to see those places
I got to go to a private screening they had
Brilliant movie and book, thankfully I own both.
LOVVVED that movie and Matt Dillon! RIP Patrick Swayze!
Thank you for this, Loved the book and the movie❤️
Best actors for a really good movie too, they were and are the most attractive cast tbh.
Omg loved this great film great cast!
Everyone talks about Keanu Reeves being a vampire but Ralph Macchio is the original.
40 years later and Diane Lane is still one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the silver screen.
Doe it for Johnny lol 😂 🤣🤣
13 yrs old when it came out, just finished reading the book in English class just before it came out...me and friends saw it the week it came out...all of us carried blades in our back pockets 2 weeks later...at 52 yrs old, still my fav movie of all time.
How did I manage to live 42 years & this many days - THROUGH THE 80s & 90s MIND YOU - while being a fan of many of his movies and NEVER have known that I share a birthday w/ Sir Swayze? Like... how did that happen?
Loved this and cried at the end
I love Patrick Swayze. R. I. P. ❤️
Diane Layne was THE SHIT..
Especially in her role as "Breezy"
*Lane
The Outsiders was the best book and movie I ever watched in my entire life
My love for the Mustang car came from this movie. We sure had good movies in the 80s!
My childhood.
Still one of my favorite.... now classic.... movies
One of my favorite movies. What a star studded cast
Absolutely
One of the greatest all star casts of any movie.
Went to midnight movies with the cast while they were filming in town.
I never had an hollywood actress crush... but when I saw Diane Lane in Streets of Fire in '83, '84 ... 🤤
She was straight 🔥
I remember thinking I was such a rebellious teenager watching this. I had crushes on just about everyone in this movie.
Thanks for this great trip down memory lane!
"Mustangs...they're tough!" Of course 12 year old me remembers that in '86. Well, and Matt Dillon crawling as he's shot down!
That bit about the house in OK now a museum is cool af, thanks for that
i love this movie and i have the movie and I love watching this classic film
I had no idea about the museum!! Will definitely have to go see that!! Loved this movie and book. So much so, I almost named my oldest son Ponyboy but my mom and other family talked me out of it. 😂
Just an absolute stacked cast!
How time flies. I remember watching this movie back in the day. I was a sophomore in high school in 1983. Good times.
Good information and thanks for sharing your video
I love The Outsiders!! It’s a good movie!!
Did you know that C. Thomas Howell was in The Amazing Spider-Man 1 with Andrew Garfield??
Can you do Mrs. Doubtfire (1994) then and now??❤❤❤
This movie alone probably has the most epic stars with epic careers culminating in over 2,000 yrs of acting experience, TV, movie, cinema & directing
RIP Patrick & William
Before we had The Expendables, we had The Outsiders
5:12 Michelle Meyrink for anyone wondering
I read this book at the crossroads of life, cliche but it taught me a life lesson that stays with me to this day. Love you SE.
Well done. Alot better than many similar type videos. 👍
One of my favorite movies as a kid! I loved the cast!
Diane Lane, Emilio Estevez and Rob Lowe have aged well.
Tom Waits played Renfield in Bram stoker's Dracula.
I honestly think some had good aestheticians and maybe facial injections from plastic surgeons. Those little things, when kept up make you look years younger. The treatments offered are expensive. Too rich for my wallet, lol. That’s Hollywood stuff.
Loved this movie, loved all the actors 👍. ❤️🙏✌️😎
I know where I'm going to visit in the future
Hello to SEHinton, where ever she is.
It's hard to fathom so many leading men in one movie.
wow!! Look at Michelle Merrick! She looks so young and fresh!
One of the best movies about growing up of my generation the other is stand by me I have this movie and the novel by SE Hinton, all these young actors in this movie were unknown at the time and went on to be very successful,my favorites in this movie were ponyboy, johnny and Dallas, the film just like stand by me had a sad ending rip Patrick swayze and the rest of the cast always stay gold
The outsider's novel is now in the school English curriculum in Australia. My daughter had to read the novel, I spoiled the ending for her and told her Ralph dies from the burns. She was pissed that I spoiled the end for her. I got emotional at the thought of her reading the novel as its one of my favourite movies since it came out.
Diane still looks great
Loved this movie. It's a great coming of age movie still.
Just bought this on DVD last month.. classic movie
Outsiders is classic we even had to read the book in 7th grade in 87 😂
This is a great video. The pace is perfect - interestng with just the right amount of info. I was not into these movies much back then (I'm about the same age as many of the Actors) but I saw them, and In this one, I remember liking the Darren Dalten, Michelle Meyrink, and Diane Lane characters and performances even though not major parts. Pretty good Casting Director though. Now I want to watch it again. Thank you.
💛💛I LOVE THIS MOVIEEEE💛💛
I was so in love with a few of them, especially Ron Lowe made my heart stop as Soda Pop, Matt Dillon and C. Thomas Howell. Pony Boy looks horrible now. The Outsiders was an epically cast movie! RIP Patrick Swayze.
Rob lowe in all his movies in the 80s and 90s ❤️ love him! I’m only 16 but damn!!! Even now he looks good for his age. And Patrick looked so fine and seemed like such a nice guy
@@LivingtheSaphway There are no words for how fine Ron Lowe was back then. Like I said, he made my heart stop looking at him in The Outsiders, and yes he's still beautiful ❤️
I named a kitten soda pop. People thought I was nuts until I told them it was a character in a book. Then they thought it was cool
C Thomas Howell has survived a major medical trauma a few years ago that almost killed him - that can age a person. But he’s lucky to be alive. Also, those happen to be exceptionally bad photos.
a museum?!! I sense a road trip to OK .. Thank YOU for the video
Favorite movie of all time!
I think all the guys in this movie aged well.. they still look good ❤️
Big Patrick Swayze fan🙏
I thought I'd seen all of Patrick Swayzes movies, now I'll definitely have to check this one out, never was one to have a crush on actors....but along came Patrick!
I had the biggest crush on Matt Dillon as a teen 😂 there was no boy more beautiful to me
I never would’ve guessed Ralph Macchio was older than Matt Dillon.
I always had a major crush on Matt Dillon especially in 80s he always played those bad boy roles so well.
Oh my yes
loved this movie growing up. Absolute all star cast. remember watching it with my friends. good times.
Thank you for this! I’m the same age as most of those in the film, Diane Lane is a month older than me. I was so in love with Matt Dillon back in the day ❤❤
what do you love about Matt Dillon ?
Y a ti what krajo te importa.
@@BRIANDER100 He was the sexy bad boy in "My Bodyguard" as well. Chicks lust after bad boys, but any intelligent woman knows that going after a bona-fide relationship with a bad boy leads to a dead end, perhaps literally! So, a movie fantasy is safe. Who doesn't love eye candy?
@@maryblaufuss7533 WHY DO Chicks lust after bad boys, ?
@@BRIANDER100 Contrast from humdrum, ordinary life, maybe? Attention paid to something that is perceived as flashy, and therefore, attractive? This is a possible explanation, not an attempt at justification. I do assert that anyone who falls for someone who is all fanfare and no substance should not be surprised when they end up disappointed later.
One of my all time favorite movies ❤❤❤❤
I was born in 83 and I loved this movie my whole life growing up my 12-year-old son just recently finished reading the book for school so we let him watch the movie and he also loved it, proof this movie is for all generations, RIP Patrick Swayze
I did not realize that William Smith was the dude that fought Clint Eastwood in Any Which Way You Can. Mind blown!
Wow Johnny, soda, and steve, cherry still look good 😮
Such a wonderful film. And Strvie Wonder singing "Stay Gold."..big ooooogly cry..lol
Ralph and Rob aged really well.
I recently saw an interview with Rob Lowe who said that he celebrated his 18th Birthday while filming The Outsiders ... here it says he was 19. Someone made a mistake. Great video!
