Showed me a new movie I can enjoy.
I was 16 when I went to that Arkansas / Tennessee game and I had no clue about his backstory. I was just pissed that my girlfriend couldn't attend the game with me because she fell asleep driving home from our Friday night high school football game. She wound up driving through a retirement community's mini-golf course and luckily wasn't too shaken up, but wasn't up for the football game the next day. To make things even more fun, my family lived in Arkansas before moving up to Tennessee, and my sister was in the UT band but still dated a dude from Arkansas (that I had to sit with). He was so drunk that he was pulling down his pants to show all the UT fans his Sunday best Hogs briefs when the stumble fumble happened. Almost 30 years later I learn about this side of the story and it really puts my minor inconveniences that day into perspective. Wish I could have seen him play with Peyton during his Colts days.
Incredible storytelling! I was hooked from start to finish. Brandon’s transformation is not only about football but about proving that you can achieve anything with dedication.
I am a 51-year-old man who has a very passing interest in football. I watched this video with tears of faith and tears of sadness. I was not expecting this. I never knew this story and am glad I learned of it. God is good!
I’ve seen many of these movie recaps, this one caught me so fucking offguard. I had no idea about this story and I’m so glad I came across it. A truly tragic but amazing story at the same time. What a truly amazing human
The sad ting is he would have been a 10 year starter in the NFL. He would have had a Super Bowl ring with Peyton Manning. He already had the starting spot there and worked at it, but sadly it was all taken away.
He was drafted to protect Peyton Manning. The movie glosses over a few things, like he was athletic as hell for an offensive lineman. Brandon, at 290, could run a 4.8. He also had incredible agility. They still have a saying at Arkansas, so things the burlsworth way.
It's awesome seeing all the kids at their first Razorback game for the first time. Every home game they have their own special section and get a featured shout out on the video screen and a announcement. The announcer ends it with "The Burls kids.. Doing it, the Burls way."
Marty was Brandon’s big brother but more of a father figure because the father suffered from alcohol abuse & Brandon wanted to become a professional college athlete and his mother took out a second mortgage to get him his shot… He became a walk on and nobody really took to him at first… The coach noticed Brandon’s paperwork really hadn’t any information on his father so the coach eased up but still demanded that Brandon show up and become a training dummy… Brandon start showing up the upperclassman and that was all they needed to see… Sad way he died knowing he was always afraid of “18 wheelers” 🤦🏽♂️
This movie crushed me. I can't ever stand the ending. It's an inspirational movie, and the story of Burlsworth is more than worthy of it. But the true ending can break anyone.
False. It only breaks an unbeliever. A believer properly sees it for the message of hope that it is. It's ironic that you utterly missed the point. Let me make it really clear: NOTHING can break a true believer. This very fact is why the Christian church was able to survive total persecution at the hands of the most powerful empire the world had ever known at the time: because when its scions were burnt at the stake, they died with smiles on their faces, and this INSPIRED people to want to attain that kind of faith, so the Gospel survived because of it.
