I'm a current cosmetologist here at WDW! Totally agree with you when you talked about the cosmos....some of these older ladies are soooo stuck in their ways haha. I'm sure you have worked with most of them!
I loved the end of this video!! I'm a full time performer for a local touring company. As a touring performer it's not as "glamorous" as it seems from the outside but you have to remember to sparkle for others. That's why I do what I do, to ignite that happiness and creativity in others.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm preparing for my own Face Character audition coming up, and watching and hearing your stories confirm my heart's desire of being in entertainment.
I was just in Disney for senior trip in June and I didn't see Aladdin in Epcot. Jasmine is still in morocco, but Aladdin and Jasmine are together in magic kingdom next to the magic carpet ride. I met both of them in magic kingdom and they were perfect and it really felt like I was meeting Aladdin and Jasmine.
+whushaw they are part of the International program. It's similar to the college program but you don't have to be in college. People from all over the world come to work in their pavilion for a certain amount of time
that's the cultural representative program ! i'm from Canada and applying for it soon :) jobs.disneycareers.com/category/disney-international-programs-jobs/391-5733-5732/2474/1
Such a great quote for all of us to remember in our lives - don't forget your outfit still sparkles even if you're bored with it. (Counts for motherhood, career, etc) :)
Thank you SO much for doing these videos!! They are always so insightful, and it's so nice to hear behind the scenes tips and secrets that you don't hear every day or would have never thought of. Please continue to make more of these videos, they definitely make my day every time I watch them ☺️
Loved this so much! Loved your message just to not take any experience for granted, because it might be the dream experience for another. Can't wait for more amazing videos.
I'm not surprised the Cindy's got rushed out there without doing fur. In WDW her friends are in constant demand from Akershus, Royal Table, 1900 Park Faire, Fairytale Hall, Festival of Fantasy, etc. Jasmine's pals are only needed at Morocco, Agrabah Bazaar, and Royal Table; even then her presence is limited because Aladdin is the main character.
so excited when i got this notification! when i was watching your confessions of a retired disney princess videos the training seemed so interesting to me, thanks so much for making this video:)!
Your comment about not letting your dress losing its sparkle was awesome because its so true and that definitely also can apply to how ppl in general can feel about themselves "don't lose your sparkle" love it!
Did you ever have people try to get you to break character? I've heard that this happens a lot, and I was wondering if it is as common as they say. If so, how do you deal with this situation? Thanks for the lovely videos!
I feel like Jasmine always tucks her hips under herself and leans back. No matter her mood or what she is doing, hips under and leaning back. It is a very slimming stance.
also to add to my previous comment, perfect timing for you to post this because i just had acl surgery yesterday and have been laying in bed all day so i was super excited to see you posted something!😂
I feel your pain re: hurricanes of 2004 - I started at Disney around the same time as you did. I had just moved down for my College Program right after the first hurricane, and was thrown on rideout crew at my resort hotel during the 2nd one...before I had even officially completed my front desk training. Talk about baptism by fire!
I cannot believe I missed this video ! 😣 You are such an amazing person, the way you were so exited about this video made ME get exited 😆😂 You have such an amazing personality... please keep making such awesome videos 👏❤
I feel like you may have answered this before, but how many of the same face character would you say Disney has at a time? How many other Jasmines were there when you were "friends" with her? (:
7 лет назад+6
it really just depends!! disneyland only has 4 friends of flynn ryder but probably 10-15 friends of anna and elsa!!
I love watching your princess confessions videos. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I've heard that whichever character someone is training for, that during their training they go into the park and watch the character meet guest to see how they "act on set". Did you ever watch any of the other Jasmine/Pocahontas in the parks during training, or even out of training too, to see how the character acted. Also did they teach any common activities that most everyone doing the character would be doing, like not every girl that's friends with Jasmine will be in a parade but every/most every girl will do Character Dining, or is that a whole other training done later on? I hope these questions made sense :)
I'm thinking about auditioning too! But I'm curious to know how often you portrayed a für character and how often you would portray one of the princesses :)
That fast! Oh my goodness - So, so well done I'd say! With regards to guest interaction, did they train you how to 'deal' with certain situations? Eg. Kids crying or adults getting annoyed etc? Any official how-to's? This would be so helpful to hear! =)
It literally makes me so happy every time I click on one of your videos and hear your "Hello Everyone!" AH CHILLS! I always know i"m in for something amazing when I hear that! Love you! I miss you so much, im planning to move to Orlando in October so hopefully we can meet up again in Disney!!!
This was so fun to watch. :) I would have never fit the bill to be a Disney princess when I was a young woman, but your stories make me wish I could have, LOL! Question for you, since you were Jasmine - How do you feel about Lea Salonga and her singing role for eve movie? I adore her, and think she is the epitome of Jasmine, as far as vocals. -quincey
love this video!! Thank you so much for sharing! I was wondering, do you have any advice for how to survive fur character training? (like the extreme heat, etc.)
Hi Jennifer! I love your Disney Princess videos. I was wondering if in your experience as a character perfomer, you saw girls with big or prominent noses playing princess characters? If someone had a round, upturned nose that was a bit big when seen on profile would it disqualify them from a face role?
Wonderful video! I never thought about it before until you mentioned the sizes of the costumes... are there several sizes for each princess costume or does it happen that a new hire might go through a fitting/alteration to make a costume fit?
I'm 13 years old and I really really want to be a Disney princess and I'm going to audition my senior year. A lot of people have said only like 2 girls make the cut so I'm really scared even tho I have a long time because it's like my dream job
Understand that it's a learning experience and if you don't make the cut you'll still have the memories of auditioning. Since you're 13 I'd recommend getting in theatre in school and auditioning for any musicals. Look up vocal techniques and vocal warm ups on youtube. Do improv exercises and do makeup tutorials that enhance your natural beauty.
Becoming a Disney princess has always been a HUGE dream of mine but I have freckles on my face ( like a lot of them) And I know some of the princesses have freckles but usually just a couple. Will I get cut automatically because of them?
Lisa Podlesak of course not!! Freckles give you a youth look which disney is ALL about! Anyway, you can always wear a little foundation that'll cover them up, but it shouldn't be a problem!
Hey Lisa! I just replied to your last question on the Angela video.. soo many princesses had freckles.. like Ariel, and I'm sure the Frozen sisters too.. among others.. I knew so many princesses w/a lot of freckles, not just a few, but a lot--all over their arms, necks, etc. Don't let that phase you.. even if they're hard core dark freckles---it's not over until the fat lady sings. lol. Audition, don't let that stop you.. but go in with an open hand and an open heart.. ready to let go. It might not be your freckles that cause you to lose out on the role.. perhaps it was something else... work to be prepared, as prepared as possible for your audition.. and if you feel so inclined and are able, audition several times before you feel it's time to give up. It can take a few times to audition for some girls before they get cast. I wish you the best & hope you're cast. xo
Aaaah the camera cut out at such an awesome part T_T but that's such an interesting thing! She's self confident and self assured but humble at the same time? That's really cool about her
I love your videos so much Jennifer! I was wondering, did Disney require you to go tanning when you performed as Jasmine? Not that you're pale or anything, you have a great complexion!
+Ani Papazian hahahaha great question! When I was hired, I used to be darker because I didn't know much about sun damage and age spots, etc but after I went seasonal status at Disney and went to aesthetic/facial school, I learned about all that and tried to not tan anymore. Lol sad but the skin color of Jasmines they had on staff was definitely in a range of shades.. from super fair skinned girls all the way to a light brown.. 💕thanks for watching and commenting! Disney only asked us not to get tan lines so we wouldn't ruin the costumes.. no longer an issue since they changed the costumes though. 😄👋🤔
Thank you for answering! :) I imagine being in the sun for long amounts of time also attributed to that! I know I would need so much sunblock being the pasty self that I am, here in Michigan we aren't used to seeing the sun for long lol!
What happens if you or a guest gets your costume dirty while backstage or performing? I'm surprised you were allowed to eat/color in them. I'm sure you were always careful, but I've experienced a wardrobe department very similar to Disney world's and that would never be permitted. I guess: what were you allowed and not allowed to do in costume?
hahaha, that's an excellent point. It's soo funny because I don't ever recall it being an issue! Actually, the only time I ever had to change my Jasmine pants from a stain was once in Epcot when a little girl got pancake syrup all over them after she used my pants as a napkin, but I was always careful to catch a child's hands before they could do that usually. As far as backstage, Disney only ever provided yellow gatorade.. or was it powerade? I think it was powerade, but the yellow one because it was mostly clear. Also, my snacks were usually apples or fruit or something that didn't stain. For lunch I usually had a dry sub sandwich from Subway.. rarely did I have a burger and fries for lunch, so the spilling was pretty nonexistent. But now that you mention it, that does sound crazy! haha.. I guess it was Disney magic. I honestly never ever recall having a stain on those Jasmine pants, but they were sooo silky that if water would've spilled on them, it would've just rolled right off of them. It was like they were waterproof. The other princesses had a lot more costume to remove though, but they had special undergarments. It's so funny, I honestly hardly recall what they would wear when not in full costume backstage, but again, they never seemed to stain anything either. SO funny. Smoking in costume or wig was out of the question though.. that wasn't permitted. If anything would've happened though, there were sooo many spare costume items, it would've been easy to change it out. A bit time consuming but otherwise easy enough. The wardrobe buildings were always so big.
Also I have two small scars on my face. Less than an inch long. One under my eye and another above my lip. Would that be something that 'they' wouldn't want you to have as a princess
This isn't much of a training question per say but can you be hired as s Disney princess at the age of 18?! I will be attending UCF in august and it's always been my dream to work as Belle throughout college! Thanks!!
Do the Disney Princesses wear dental flippers or get their teeth bleached or just use different whitening kits? Last time I went to Disney which was a month ago all the princesses had the same looking teeth and it made me very curious haha.
i hope you having a great day my friend daughter almost 1 loves playing with my long hair by way have you herd of D23 is event CA just for disney fans its like comic con for disney fans clebs come to it and i am sure be talking about up coming aladdin and mulan for next year it is called d23 expo is event hold every 2 years i hope to go in 2019 i seen etsy that some people make there own disney wigs close to the parks i seen jasmine wig 300 bucks on etsy.com to picey for me i seen two stright videos of aladdin and tv show from 90s i loved that show as kid i even taped off tv aladdin 3 moive and little mermaid show and aladdin show i just need 2 moive on dvd i hopping be 25 year will relase return of jafar i need that my collection ha never work at the parks but still obssed of jasmine pocahontas i was teeling one my mom co workers aladdin one my favorites from 90s 1 time got a moive they chacters kinda look like me and jasmine 1 not white princess obbsed only yoube around in 90s i don;t my parents took pictures of my room 90s but i had jasmine bed room obssed

Do you any have insight on the international type people at Epcot for the Japan,Canadian,Germany type stores/areas etc.

did you work at wdw in 2007 by any chance? i might have a picture with you as jasmine!
She worked there from 2004 - 2009 :) Maybe it is her!
Another great vid. Thx!!

love this video!! Thank you so much for sharing! I was wondering, do you have any advice for how to survive fur character training? (like the extreme heat, etc.)
How long did you have to practice the character signiture? Not everyone has the best handwriting. Excellent video.

Jennifer Oakes Thank you so much ❤️ this gives me a lot more confidence walking into the auditions
Ariane Ferguson Thanks, this really calms my nerves 😂
Do they have Esmerelda and Kida there to be? There aren't many tan characters and I love those characters. So do you know if they're at the parks
Ava Jane I know Kida isn't there, and I don't think Esmeralda isn't there either...I'm sorry.

What movies did you watch when you were friends with Pluto?
What about training for Disney Villains, I haven't seen any videos about people talking about that. I am interested in being a villain.
Me too! haha I can't find a disney villain audition experience either!
Also I have two small scars on my face. Less than an inch long. One under my eye and another above my lip. Would that be something that 'they' wouldn't want you to have as a princess

The age range is 18 - 27
just wondering:if you already have the hair of the princess do you have to wear a wig?
who makes the costumes?
all princesses wear wigs to make sure their hair style and type looks exactly like their character
Do the Disney Princesses wear dental flippers or get their teeth bleached or just use different whitening kits? Last time I went to Disney which was a month ago all the princesses had the same looking teeth and it made me very curious haha.
Melissa Whalen Nope. It's all their natural teeth.
they do a lot of whitening :)
Can somebody please tell me where you live as a Disney princess? Do you have to rent an apartment? Or do you actually live at the park.
LOL4FUN you live wherever and you drive to work like the rest of us.
Is Mickey considered a Fur Character? Did you ever play him?
Mickey is a fur character. She wouldn't have played him though because she would have been too tall.
Did you meet any famous people as a Disney Princess?
You should audition for Jasmine in the new live-action movie!
Rafiki must have been a workout!
