    Your videos are so great, Jennifer! I love how you talk about many different aspects of your time at Disney, it's all so interesting to me! A question I've wondered is did you personally like to come up with any of your character's little stories (or responses to tricky questions guests might ask) ahead of time through studying the character in your guides and watching the films, or was a majority of it a lot of improv on the spot? I love your advice for acting courses at the end, I'll definitely be looking into commercial acting too since I had never really considered it before! (as most of my work is onstage) Thanks for sharing!

She gets put on fur shifts more often than face, and I think the only face characters she works with are Star Wars and Guardians/Moana (any at Hollywood Studios, her home park). I work in customer service (sort of) and you get a lot of nice people and also not-so-nice ones, and you have to toe the line between following policies and also keeping guests happy. It's hard, but there are also a lot of pros from what I've read about the position and seen on youtube (videos like this one)

      Bryan Baik They are allowed to sometimes. It depends on the situation, especially if the ride has to do with that specific character’s story. I know the princesses can sometimes be seen riding the carousel and I’ve also seen pictures of characters on the Mad Tea Party at Tokyo Disneyland. This doesn’t happen all the time but when it does it’s a real magical treat!

    Hi Jennifer! I have a question. As a face character, did you practice how to response instantaneously? Like how did you manage to dodge inappropriate questions?

    • @OakesPrincess
      @OakesPrincess  Год назад +1

      We did practice! During training, we were given a list of possible "difficult" questions people might ask and how to reply... people tended to be very respectful, is how my experience was. The only inappropriate comments that truly stood out to me in all the years were, "SAVAGE!!!" when I was Pocahontas at Magic Kingdom, which, I wasn't prepared for. It was from a group of teenage guys, so, I did my best not to take it too seriously but honestly, I had to hold back tears. Disney characters NEVER get mad, that's in the training rules, but I felt sad. Reading old historic persons though, like David Thoreau's Walton, he was an abolitionist and admired the native Americans a lot, yet he too referred to them as savages. I think it was a sign of the times, it's not p.c. today, but, anyway, there it is. Another inappropriate comment was "poca- hot-@$$" & things like "sexual" in reference to the Jasmine costume but Aladdin always came to my rescue and I was never alone. I think jasmine doesn't have Aladdin today and her costume is a lot more modest, which fixes a lot of would be comments. Also, Pocahontas isn't really out anymore, or she hasn't been, since I've been to the parks these past couple years. Hope that answers your question! Xo happy new year!

    • @smiley5825
      @smiley5825 Год назад +1

      Jennifer, I've been watching your videos for quite long time and this is my 2 or 3rd time asking you questions, but I really appreciate your thorough response. I didn't know they have a list of difficult questions! That's good to know :) I'm from Japan and I came to the US to pursue my performer dream (my dream Princess is Mulan!) for Disney. Since English is my 2nd language, I am not good at response instantaneously... so it's good to know that they'll give you a list. Ugh, sounds like teenage boys are the worst. I heard from other girl who was Pocahontas that someone once said to her "I've visited your tomb"! . Honestly if I was in her situation, I think I'll froze. 😅 Btw, I'll be start working at WDW in next Feb. I'm sure it'll take some times to actually become Mulan (bc of my English), but when it happens, I really want to invite your family(and Angela 😘) to WDW- and meet her. 💚 Your videos always make me exicted, and your answers help me a lot! Happy New Year!

  • @hannahsneodream

    I've always wanted to be a princess at a Disney Park, but I've had to come to terms with the fact that I'm too short, (I'm around 5'1") and it's probably never going to happen. However, it won't stop me from dressing like a princess. I really want to be Belle for Halloween this year so I can walk around at Halloween events meeting kids in character. I've got acting experience, and I've got Belle's signature down. haha. My biggest problem is finding a nice looking costume for a reasonable price. Most of the higher quality, low price adult costumes are short or inappropriate which is not the look I'm going for. I've considered buying one of the short costumes, and trying to add length myself. Do you have any tips for finding a costume, and for continuously staying in character?

    • @ThePoodleServiceDog
      @ThePoodleServiceDog 7 лет назад

      I was 5'1 3 months ago and now I'm nearly 5'3 (I'm 18) Don't give up hope, you might increase height!

    • @ColumineMiette
      @ColumineMiette 7 лет назад +1

      I'm around 5'1" too, haha. I had that same problem finding a decent Rapunzel dress (this was a few years ago when the market was not flooded with good dresses)
      I wouldn't recommend buying a short dress and adding length because it may be hard to match the dress fabric (texture and color) to the fabrics in the fabric store. If you know how to sew, I would actually recommend making it yourself. There are a few tutorials online. A lot of dresses on etsy (though absolutely gorgeous) are extremely expensive. (Not without merit, but still.)
      I just had an idea. Not sure if this would work, but you could try finding a goodwill wedding dress base, dye it with fabric dye, and modify it to make it closer to Belle. I've seen a lot with good bell shapes in resale shops. Some may need hoop skirts.
      As for staying in character, I know I'm not Jennifer, but I can put in my own two cents: practice, practice, practice! And of course, re-watch the movie.

    • @hannahsneodream
      @hannahsneodream 7 лет назад

      Thank you guys. I was in a show recently where I had to dye a costume. It was originally black, and I made it pink. I'm sure light colored dresses are easier to find. I might try that. My local professional theatre is doing a costume sale soon, so I'll probably check that out too. Also, any suggestions for reasonably priced, decent quality wigs? I have blonde hair, and clearly, Belle is not blonde. Haha.
