Thanks for the lovely video. Would you also talk about school catchment in scotland? Having been thinking about moving back to Scotland, I am looking for a good public school for my son. By' good' , I mean a warm and friendly environment particularly for non-locals. Regarding property, what is the range of fee for ' factor' for apartments in Scotland, or to be more precise, outskirts of Edinburgh?
@2308Oliver Thanks. The factor fee as far as I am aware is not fixed. It varies depending on where you live but just to give you an idea, we pay somewhere around £150 per year in my area which is about 20 minutes from Edinburgh. I don't think tenants pay factor fee though as we only started paying this when we moved to our own home. For tenants, I think they just bundle everything into your rent (that was my experience). With regards to schools, naturally, schools located where there is a good mix of people from different backgrounds feels more welcoming as this would also reflect in the school (pupils are automatically placed in the school in their neighbourhood catchment). Cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow by default have a good mix of people but you can also find other towns outside of the main cities with a good mix of people. Most towns in Westlothian is increasingly home to people from different backgrounds and so are some other local authorities.
I personally prefer a fixed rate mortgage so I know exactly how much I pay per month. Even though varriable rate mortgage can sometimes mean paying less when interest rates are low, it can also mean paying a lot more when interest rates are high. It's too much of a gamble for me and not really worth it. If interest rates are below 3%, I will go for a 5 year fixed rate mortgage but with interest rates currently well above 4%, unless I am remortgaging, I will wait for interest rates to come down before buying a property. If remortgaging at the current interest rates, I will probably go for the shortest reasonable fixed rate I can find. You can use sites like compare the market to see interest rates across various providers.
@@menvicstudio Thanks a lot for the help. I am just getting a mortgage on my first property now. It seems like Halifax wasn't a bad choice comparing to others so I just need to decide on a fixed rate term. I also don't believe I could see much difference in a 2 to 5 year fixed rate at around 4.8 to 4.4 percent. I think I might get the 5 year fixed as things can also get worse
Thank you so much for this Ma. How can I reach out to you, ma? I would like to ask a few questions. Would appreciate it if you can give me where to DM. Thank you so much Ma
If you live in the UK, yes. If you live outside of the UK, it's also a yes but I think the process might be different so you will need to speak with a professional.
@RhetoricPoet you clearly need to travel and educate/broaden your myopic perspective on life. Why do you think various governments allow immigration and emigration? For starters, despite the cons which is all you might see shown in the media, countries benefit heavily from immigration and even from emigration. Above all, travelling and moving from one place to another is a basic human right and as long as one meets the requirements they are free to live and work anywhere. You should try moving abroad, it will do you a world of good. PS. Scotland is very far from being full. If it is, immigration opportunities will be closed.
@@RhetoricPoet😂😂😂mate who even wants to live in your shithole of a country? You guys don’t even have the energy to warm your asses in winter. I am just doing you Brits a favour by buying properties so that your gdp gets a boost. Not to mention you guys will starve in the streets if not for immigrants to save you lot. 😂😂😂
Saving up 10% deposit it's better than 5%.
Loving the fact that one can say NO if one doesn't like any property shown to them but have a choice
Exactly. 10% or more. Thanks for watching 🙂
Thanks for this
You are welcome😊

Thanks for this insightful video. How far into a skilled worker visa would be appropriate to look into buying a property?
You can buy at anytime you have the money and if you need to leave the country, you can always sell and move on.
Would it be best to get a fixed or variable rate mortgage right now and if fixed, for how many years? Is there a good source for me to look into?
