Its actually kind of amusing is that Disney wasn't much of a business man when he started and it was after he got backstabbed by a business partner which is why Mickey's older brother got lost to time. So one could look at this situation as beyond death vow to never be swindled again. Now if only Disney applied that power to well...anything then what it is currently doing things would be pretty chill.

Walt Disney World (park) is shoved in the farthest corner as it was simply a condition to get funding for the entire property (banks, investors, etc). The original goal for Disney, was EPCOT, or as it was known, the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. So yes, while it might seem like a bit odd for a theme park to have supreme municipal power, that was what it was for: a city. Crooked Kickbacks
Perhaps one of the most egregious revelations from the audit was the unethical flow of perks and benefits from Disney to RCID employees. Disney effectively bought the loyalty of the district.
According to the report, here’s how it worked: Disney would provide flashy perks to Reedy Creek employees, many of which weren’t available to the general public. These benefits included up to 40 percent off Disney cruises and merchandise, other discounts on resort rooms and services, and millions of dollars worth of Disney park annual passes for not only employees but also their friends and family - plus free, single-use, transferable tickets over the holidays. District employees even received some privileges reserved for Disney workers, known as “cast members,” such as gifts and invites to closed-door parties. Of course, none of these kickbacks were included in workers’ taxable income.

DeSantis needs to be removed from office. He's clearly committed a clear abuse of authority trying to consolidate power. If there was ever a time to enact impeachment, this would be it.

The new things they are trying now is to pass a law that take their development rights away but don't realize that it would affect all developments in the state. In addition to tolling all state roads to enter the grounds and increasing hotel taxes that would again effect all hotels in the state.

In many ways this feels like one of those Alien vs Predator movies. My hope is that we all can just keep our heads down and Disney will destroy DeSantos and DeSantos will find some way to stifle Disney’s continuing attempt to extend all of it copy rights indefinitely and to gobble up or control all media or cultural thought in the country.

@@theadministrator4765 Uh ya he did. Disney no longer has control over the district, the RCID has been replaced with the CFTOD, their royal clause was struck down in July and was only a delay tactic, Disney withdrew all but one of their federal cases which will most likely be dismissed post audit of the RCID, thus leading to only state cases which legal experts have claimed they will lose as the audit is now evidence, oh and Disney has to pay all the backed taxes. So ya, Ron won.
How do I know this? Because unlike you I actually researched it and I live outside of the boundaries of the now former RCID. Get with the times mate, brush up on current events.

Telling quote: "This board loses, for practical purposes, the majority of its ability to do anything beyond maintain the roads and maintain basic infrastructure."
First off: Isn't that essentially the definition of "small government with limited powers to avoid overreach?" I thought DeSantis loved that shit.
Second: isn't maintaining roads and basic infrastructure pretty much exactly what these kinds of boards are supposed to do?

Historically, roads going to and from a park are county and municipal, Disney had control and costs for them instead and now, DeDodo decided to try to strip them away and have nobody pay for them, as his act left nobody to maintain them.
Infrastructure typically is park infrastructure and belongs to Disney. That leaves public utilities, which like the roads, would be in limbo.
