You are absolutely right about protecting your lungs! Worked with old timer painters who scoffed about protecting their lungs and are not here today. They ranged in years 51 to 65. All four of them 😢
what other channels? I cannot really find any good, pro grade channels (except for the ones that are covert advertisements for some car restoration companies). Slade's is a great channel, but if you want something more advanced than DIY, it's scarce on RUclips
Thank you very much. I truly appreciate that. I’m not a professional, but I try to do it so people can do it themselves literally. Instead of having a bunch of equipment.
@@TN-oc3cw you named some really great channels that’s exactly who I follow and consider friends. Mustie is amazing, I don’t think there is anything that guy can’t fix.
@@oniondeluxe9942 thank you for the kind comment. I appreciate that. I just try to keep it plain and simple. My videos are probably a little more bland lol
I figure I might as well do a video on that soon, so people can prepare. Starting to go down in the 30s here at night already. I hope you’ve been feeling well, my friend.
Great video, man. Panel looks great. Man, I went back and looked at your door hinge video and was so mad. Lol. I went total caveman and just drilled out my door screw heads and had to cut access holes to get the bottom nut plates out to get the rest of the screws out. There were rust holes there on both sides anyway I had to repair. But never again. I'm totally getting one of those impacts. My 74 seems to have little holes on the inner wheels near the bottom hinges that PB straw could fit through. My next beetle will be easier. Haha. These tips are why I watch your channel. Thanks, dude. I'm still mad, though. Hahaha. Be well.
Thank you very much for the kind comment. I really appreciate that. Oh yeah, that little impact that you hammer works so nicely. That was actually my father’s from the 70s, but they sell them new still. It always makes me think of him when I’m using tools from his collection. Sure miss that guy he showed me so much. You can definitely get the PB blast down behind through the trunk.
I am really enjoying these bodywork videos would like to see how to repair holes in the headliner none of this content is ever boring keep up the great work that you do!!! thank you!
Thank you so much, my friend, trying to get some outside stuff done first. And I’m going to show how to repair headliners. It won’t be professional, but it will look very nice.
Good job on fixing that line on the left rear quarter panel. Your right door isn’t that bad; if you can’t find a good replacement in the swap meet you can definitely work with it. In fact; even if you find a better replacement you should save it as well; looks better than many I’ve seen plus it’s an OEM one and the fit is perfect. Any replacement you get will need work to make it fit perfectly.
I did check the swap meet maybe since it was the fall event I didn’t see any doors at all. So I will work with this one next week. I’m going to do a video first on how to disassemble it completely completely. And then, of course, the bodywork. Thank you for being here every week. I truly appreciate that.
Right? I can never stop myself. I don’t know why I do that. It’ll look really nice and I have to swipe it one more time and then I get upset lol thanks for being here brother lol
Yeah, she was a little upset about that one lol I figure I leave that stuff on video when I get caught lol thanks for always being here my friend. It’s coming along slowly.
I always like watching your videos, just some advice on the body work. dont ever use the metal filler it doesn't hold up. Check out the video all metal body filler Dyna glass bondo ultimate fail part 1
Oh crap that’s just great! I will check that out for sure Dave thank you so much. I used it before and didn’t have an issue, but I might have gotten lucky.
I wished I could’ve afforded to do a sandblasting first to be honest with you unfortunately I couldn’t. I wanted to get a sandblaster, but I would have to get a larger compressor from what I was told? My compressor is only 21 gallon.
@@SladesVWBeetle very true indeed. It can be a can of worms to get equipment for blasting. You need a lot of air, which means you need a lot of amps. Spot blasting though, can be done with quite small compressors though.
I am so sorry, my friend. I am so late on catching up on everything. It was in Columbiana, Ohio. At Jim ‘s VW. Truthfully he has it three times a year.
A #4 Phillips screwdriver is a rarely needed, but important part of any complete tool kit. Many folks don't even have a #3. Be good to yourself, buy some simple and proper tools!
So excited to see the end result! I see you used my flower pot again 😮
It belongs in the garage now. Bill him for a new one.😄

That looks awesome. Yes, let's keep Floridians in our prayers! Very tragic stuff going on down there!
Thank you so much, my friend! Yes, I always pray heavy but I did some extra work for the Floridians. That is horrifying what went on.
i don't know if it's been settled, but that satin black is right on. satins are nice on anything.
Yes, we decided to stick close to the original color. It’ll be just little brighter of the white.

My dad uses that fibreglass filler to 👌
Truthfully, it works quite well. I like the lightweight filler. It’s very easy to sand.
I find your body work videos much more helpful to the avg DIY guy than some of the other VW resto channels.

I’m actually not sure. I was going to paint the insides of the fenders with just a black, maybe they’ll stay clean a little longer.
