Josh, have you ever thought about getting one of those cheap full length mirrors that you hang on the back of a door and hang it on the wall at a slight angle so you can see the left side tires when you're pulling a vehicle on the lift. It makes it real easy when you're by yourself putting anything on the lift. Just thought I'd suggest this just in case you haven't. Thanks for everything y'all do to make us feel like part of the family/ team.
I have to say this is one of the Very few channels that I do not mind listening to the whole sponsorship add.. Not only are they done very well and keep up my interest but i just keep thinking how much this family totally deserves all the sponsorship and subscriptions that they can get. They work so hard on these vehicles to keep us all intertained and to teach us more and more things. And then we get to go along with them to Dollywood and NYC and the wild west. Its just the very best channel on RUclips. Thanks guys.
Man, seeing the ease at which Ralphie removed those tires with the new machine made me so happy for you guys. That machine has been a longtime needed. Congrats!
Great investment. We use to circle track race both dirt and asphalt with a vintage modified. . Didn’t have enough rims to keep everything mounted and dad was too cheap to buy extras. I spent so much time with the harbor freight manual one mounting and dismounting and mounting dirt tires and slicks back and forth.
Man, how awesome it is to have a family unit like y'all do. Get up every day and do what you love to do TOGETHER! God bless y'all!! Love this channel! Can't wait for more Maverick videos too!
Hey guys, noticed while Wawa was cleaning those hoops that wire wheel got awful close to her Hoodie strings.. just a reminder to tuck them in or take them out when working with rotating tools... I learnt the hard way. Thanks for the videos, stay safe.
Thanks for naming the cat tater. We lost a friend Jon Taylor aka tater many years ago. It helps me to remember my old friend. He was a friend to everyone stranger to no-one. I can guarantee he would be a sleeperdude fan too.
Ya’ll are so adorable that I turn everything else off or delay watching what ever so I can devote all of my attention to your show. I am 79 years old and I don't get out much anymore and just love to watch your show.
I’m 6”4 240 pounds and I have a midget. I fit in it with no problem. Yours has a 1275 engine, you can put a 5 speed trans in it, there is a ford one that will fit or a Datsun 210 gearbox will fit. There was also the factory option of an electric overdrive. I have owned several of these, they have their quirks but overall they really are a well built car and they have not gotten stupid in pricing yet.
Ralphie has come such a long way...all of the kids actually...Ralphie has aquired so many skills...he's working that tire machine like a pro! Tip...If Wawa were to put those wheels on the tire mount machine and let it rotate...she could use the wire wheel on the bead a lot easier
I’ve had luck with re-annealing the copper washers if they leak. Heat the copper washer until it glows and then let it cool. Re-install and the leak may stop. It’s worked for me a few times.
Did that once. Used to work for a VW dealer and we had an MG Midget. A salesman and I went out. He drove the Beetle and I drove the MG. The MG out handled the VW hands down. But I personally like the Beetle better. They are more dependable.
The best part is you really don't need to go to the track for it. Quickest to 55 should be good enough. They might not get their on an 1/8th mile track. The mg will have a higher top end speed.
Great job guys finally got a video on the M G been waiting for this. Sorry everyone is not feeling well. I have a 1974mgb rebuild everything and replaced body parts floors and repainted it took 2 years so I know what you are going through. I don't know if you know it but the convertible top new cost me 325 dollars on RUclips so that was a great gift you got ❤. I probably have 5,000 dollars in parts not counting labor. Love the Sleeper Dude family and animals ❤️ 😊
I love the little British 4 cyl cars! I've wanted a Triumph Spitfire since I was 15. I'm 57, and still want one. Watching you bring this MG back to life has been pretty cool!
Josh. I really love the MG. I am so jealous of Marge right now. Watching you and your kids work on your collection is so wonderful. Please keep going. Thank you sir ...
Your refurb on those Rostyle wheels looks great. You did it exactly the way I did it on my 74 MGB. Paint masks are available but hand brushing is easier (in my opinion).
When you tighten the banjo bolts on the calipers, tighten them down, then tap the bolt a couple of times with a hammer and you can tighten it a bit more. This will help to keep the washers from leaking.
You got to remember when those MGS were made the British used to use a different system than we did it was called the wallsey system which is in a 30-second scale for everything
Incorrect. It is the Whitworth system. Story I heard was they came up with it during WW2 so the enemy would never be able to work on any captured equipment. It seems to pre-date that though. Appears to have been developed in the late 1800s.
SOS pads work great for cleaning the rims. I had a shop teacher show me that when I was in high-school. I still do that to this day on my 66 chevy stepside pickup
Congratulations Marge your little MG is really coming around. 19 years is a long time to wait to drive something. I know because that's how long it took me to get back into my 66 Chevelle. But hopefully you have most of the bugs worked out now and you can really enjoy this micro machine remember though your basically a motorcycle and you have to remember people don't look for little vehicles anymore so keep looking for potential idiots to pull out in front of you sometimes at the last minute just stay safe out there and you will have a great adventure every time you rip this now going to town rig right down to the Dollar General. Enjoyed this video a lot... hope you all recover quickly from the symptoms you are passing around the family now. The kids attend school and with the Petri dishes they are exposed to everyday just never makes it easy to know when they might bring something home for the rest of the family to experience. Hopefully it passes quickly though you and you can get back to living your best lives soon. Also good job Ralph for not missing the test run and being well enough to support the team effort you all put in on this little radio flyer. This family is so awesome thanks for Everything you share and do. You all are raising these kids up right they are not afraid to work and that's rare in today's youth. Kudos Josh and Marge you're doing a great job.
Hey guys! I just wanted to say I've been having the same problem with those copper washers. Being a retired plumber I have a fix. Take your turbo torch and heat those puppies up then let them air cool. It softens the copper and they crush better and don't leak! I hope y'all have a wonderful rest of your weekend. 😁 Ricky from Waco Texas.
This was a great video. Not just because y'all are great but the little MG is a great looking car and I'm glad to see it on the road.I love you and your family's natural comedy.Sorry to hear that you're all taking turns at the sickness that's going on with you.Keep up the great work with your great family.
chrome polishing tip - steel wool will leave micro scratches on various grades of chrome , use a folded /wadded up piece of tin foil with wd40 or chrome polish & rub briskly to remove rust , the tin foil will not scratch & will also fill into small pits adding to the luster & shine !
It is so nice to see you have the MG on the road. We had a yellow 74 and my wife love it. We had a car shop going to be restored and it got towed away by the city. We did not know it and the car shop thought we had it. Weeks leader !!! It was to late. It mad us mad but what do you do.
worked for firestone they thaught us to line yellow dot up with valve stem. it helps to balance tire so you dont have to put alot of weights on rim. i see alot of people not do it but it really does help sometimes, i would not have to put on weights on rim.
Hey Josh... If you have room when getting those stuck brake lines off, you can also use the clamp out of your old style flaring kit to hold the line too. Safer than using locking pliers.
Great to see you finally getting back to the MG. I'm glad Marge had a change of heart on the wheel color. Rostyle wheels should always be black and silver, although some fancy ones were black and chrome. Josh is correct, that wheel design was also used on some late 60s muscle cars, where they were called Magnum 500 wheels. You guys should invest in a media blast cabinet. I think Ralphie would have a field day cleaning up parts like those wheels.
I painted my 77 MGB Rostyle wheels all silver / aluminum to avoid having to deal with the black detailing, and I like them better than the two tone ones. Saved myself a lot of extra masking and work.

According to the forums the jumping out of gear syndrome seems like a common issue. The only really valid solution seems to be a gearbox rebuild. There are several different gearboxes depending on the age but it would appear that there was a design failure in the early boxes however modified cogs are available. Complete units are also available but I don't know if they will send to the USA. If it's a 'rib cage' ( marked 22G229. ) there are complete rebuild units available in the US at about 2000 bucks with 600 refundable when you return your original to the supplier.
