      There was a "feature" for Vanilla Expanded books (before the game had them) that scanned **every** single item on the entire map to find a book, if your pawn wanted to read one. It's a grievous example, but one of many. Vanilla Expanded is simply put, *poorly* optimized.

      fun fact with this guy, he actually came across a pawn named Oskar Potocki whilst fighting Pirates (well, not Commander Zero himself, but one of his Super Soldiers)

    Im pretty sure that archotechs aren't necessarily subject to the laws of physics as we know it. They can draw power from seemingly nothing (ingame its the "fluctuations in the quantum foam of the universe," whatever that means) and psychic pawns canonically are only borrowing their power - they themselves are not teleporting anything, but whatever archotech they commune with; by extension the archotechs are able to influence creatures without touching them (blind pulse, nausea pulse, berserk, the harmony beacons that make people happy) and they're the ones who are able to seemingly break FTL travel when they open a hole to the sun or to transport pawns. Humans still haven't figured ANY of that out.

      Notably, the exiled Archotech responsible for Anomaly (supposedly "Horax", but those cultists are nutcases) is in the void - which functionally exists as a complete parallel to "real" space in scale, making its potential reach anywhere in the universe.

    For my headcanon Horax is an archotech entity that has been banished to the void by multiple other archotechs, because of his malevolent interference in their plans. The monoliths and creatures spawning is what he uses to guide any intelligent enough lifeform to him, so that they may free him. Horax just doesn't get set free, because humans dont understand archotech enough to do so, that's why when you embrace the void that pawn gets send back with more ppwer, to learn more and come back to free Horux eventually.

    glassworlds are an oddity. It takes concerted effort and an odd intermediate level of power. enough to melt the surface of the world but not enough to shatter it altogether.
    I tend to assume there is a cloud of space stations and megastructures that follow similar world classifications. It makes for a wide variety of humanity and a sensible source of all the travelers and trade ships that needn't necessarily be interstellar. It also pushes the population high enough that the rarity of interstellar travels would still make it routine.
    EDIT: Skip, and Farskip would still be essentially instantaneous in the scale of a world. There are workarounds to solar pinhole as well that don't violate speed of light limitations. A local and shielded source of plasma matching the star would be enough.

    • @gustavoaraujopenha8463
      @gustavoaraujopenha8463 29 дней назад +2

      Destroying only the surface is not that odd. First because planets are spheres, it makes more sense to destroy it with multiple smaller weapons attacking from diferrent angles instead of a single huge weapon. Second because destroying anything other than the outerlayer of the crust is waaaaay overkill, sharering a planet would need literaly thousands of times more power than glassing the surface.

    • @dtaggartofRTD
      @dtaggartofRTD 29 дней назад

      @@gustavoaraujopenha8463 near lightspeed travel is routine in this universe. By extension, you have weapons that easily reach that sort of energy level. The planetkiller scenario is literally such an object. A spread of them to ensure at least one hit would be devastating, but wouldn't be melting much of anything.
      Less than ideal for taking usable territory as well. Glassing a world would probably require directing a non-trivial amount of a star's output at the world for a fair bit of time. Think Nicoll-Dyson beams and the like.
      From a practical standpoint which do you choose? A fleet of starships with kinetic impactors or a hell of a lot of mirrors? In the scale of things, the starships aren't even that much slower. Starships are so routinely built that even rimworlders can scrape the parts together.

If they wanted, they could made a continent sized kinect projectile to shatter a planet? Yes. They have a reason to do that instead of heating the planet atmosphere to the point where all life in the planet is gone? No, it's ineficient, you can cause that amount of heat with a simple big enough bomb. Think like this, we have the tecnology to shoot car sized rounds at mac speeds, but what we use to kill infantry? Small, finger sized bullets, because shooting a car at super sonic speeds to kill a single dude is ineficient and over kill.

      @@gustavoaraujopenha8463 neither is overly practical. Like any megastructure you do it because you want to past a certain point. neither leaves the planet in a terribly habitable state.

    10:36 all psycasts use archotech stuff, mentioned as archotech engines in many descriptions. for my headcanon i say that archotechs do have FTL but its only able to be used in a much weaker version by others

    maybe the monolith is a corrupted archonexus (they are just on some random piece of land) and the obelisk/archo structures (only appears around the main structure)
    void rituals would another in another "school" of psycasting

    At some point in human history, a human called Johnson Tanaka invented FTL travel with zero-reaction mass this invention seemingly allowed humans to branch out to all points of space the rim world is the planets on the rim of our galaxy technologies such as cryogenics advanced to a point where humans could pause aging being in a stasis like state the game is set 3475 years into the future the game has multiple starting options one where three people or pawns have survived crashlanding into an unknown rimworld one where a rich explorer wants more landing on an unkonown rimworld one where a pawn going into surgery transportation has crashlanded in an unkown rimworld and one where 5 tribal memebers are kicked out of there village

      @ a fairly minimal modlist for world changes would be cool. Maybe do a modlist for each world type or at least big ones like medieval, steam, war, etc not necessarily the weather ones we can make ourselves obv

    Pretty sure the Johnson-Tanaka drive does achieve ftl, however it seems to be not by a drastic magnitude. It would still take decades, centuries, or millenia to reach a desired system or one an A.I would deem best (wether the a.i is correct or sane would be left out of this, considering the naked brutality start)

    Im assuming to teleport a ship large enough to hold people you'd need dozens of not hundreds maybe even thousands of psycasters to do so. Thus making it not a viable option
