Do any of you have a Keychron keyboard? Hopefully you’ve had more luck with yours.
I have mine and I just got it yesterday.
@@villarosajan I hope it works well for you!
I have the C2 model. It would be the full size one, no battery, hard wired only. and it is still working fine. going on a month now.
@@jonk.2063 Hope it stays strong! There's certainly less to go wrong. Something to be said for keeping it simple.
1 year n going strong, even modded for less sound and swapped keycap n switches. May be a bad batch...... sorry u had a bad experience
My k6 still going strong no issues .
how long have you had it i was thinking o getting one but wasn't sure after watching this video
@@oliverstivers5967 had it for about 6 mounths now with no issues.. Love it so far .. 👍
I honestly feel like I was just unlucky and got a bad batch. Based on my experience alone I did not feel comfortable recommending it. But so many other people have had nothing but good experiences. And like I said, I was a huge fan for a long time. I just got unlucky I think.
@@VeryImportantGeeks yeah i think you got a faulty keyboard .. to bad cuz its really nice .. you might want to try it again in the near future
@@michael_n Perhaps indeed.
For anyone still looking into the K6: The keyboard abruptly not working seems to be a common issue, I ran into it too after about a month of using my keyboard. Nothing worked, fully charged it, still not working, reddit recommended hitting the back of it several times which made my friend suggest it might be the battery connection. So we took the keyboard apart, unplugged the battery and plugged it back in again. Worked like a charm. I think where the issue might be coming from is awkward wiring to the battery. Rather than the cable going to the battery in a straight line it does a U turn, which makes all sorts of things awkward in spacing and bending the cable and such. Beautifully designed keyboard, but they really fucked up in that specific regard I think.
tldr: it's a great keyboard, but buy the screwdriver to unscrew the tiny hex screws expecting to have to correct the battery at some point
Nice insight!
have you tried contacting a priest? dude 2 keyboards in a row is insane. good video though and really informative! I hope your next keychron will last long and be good should you decide to give it another chance
Lol. I hope so too. Thanks!
Great vid! You deserve more subscribers man
Thank you so much!
i have my keychron for almost a year now, no issues whatsoever, the only thing i noticed is when i first got it is the battery lasts a week with backlight on and auto sleep mode. now I only get around 4 days. just normal battery wear, I believe tha battery would have kept up better if i only turned it off once in a while. but mine stays on at my desk area all the time.
I've had the keychron k6 for like 6 months, and I have not had any trouble with it. This is my first mech keyboard and I love typing on it and it motivates me to code more because of how satisfying the gateron reds are. Sad to see how poor of an experience you had with this keyboard.
Yeah, very bad luck for me. Thanks.
does it still work? im planning to buy one
How is it now im thinking about buying one
@@Moalysf its great, I changed the switches to gateron black ink v3
Ive owned this board for about 6 weeks and its been great. I also own three other Keychron boards and they are also without fault.
That's awesome. I hope they continue to treat you well!
I own the aluminium version, mx brown. Died after some days, tried everything. Then found similar thing happening to someone on reddit, who recommended a gentle (but not too gentle) hit in the middle of the back. It worked, and it's been working flawlessly ever since.
Wow. Lol.
Sounds like an issue with battery cnnector to me
@@dusanzdravkovic8010 it probably is, but I didn't want to disassemble it to reach the connector and check... and the knock settled it, no more issues since then
I own 2 of these. One with glorious Panda's and one with Tecsee Purple Panda's. Man they sound and feel great to type on.
nice to hear, my K6 is ordered and the purple panda´s are here and waiting for it ^^
@@alucard7895132 Nice. Enjoy!
I currently own the K12 60% and have for about a week now.
Right off the bat i can say the typing and build quality is great!
This is my first mechanical & bluetooth keyboard and so far IM LOVING THE RGB and other features!
Typing feels rewarding and the sounds are very pleasing!
That being said i definitionally have some complaints...
1. Bluetooth is rather unreliable. Sometimes it doesnt register a couple key-presses and other times it seems to 'stick' on keys and fill half the page with the same letter!
THIS HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WHILE WRITING HIS VERY REVIEW!
2. Build quality is inconsistent.
The keys all sound the same accept the space bar, which sounds hollow (which makes sense but still)
3. The backlight (mine is RGB) is very plagued by bloom!
It hardly seems the keys are individually lit, instead the light bleeds out from the sides of each button as if the whole bottom of the board is one big light source.
4. The additional function texts and options on each letter is in red and a very dull red at that.
This is fine in daytime or a brightly lit environment but once you get to the point where you might rely on the backlight then the red text almost vanishes due to not being in any way transparent. This is very troublesome for those (like myself) who are not texting proficient.
In summary:
-I very much like my new keyboard (and provided it last more than a year), I can see myself using it for a long while to come!
-Typing feels great and the features are a real cherry on top!
-The aluminum build and RGB makes it feel quality in everyday use!
-Inconsistencies in bluetooth signal and responsiveness means i can never confidently use it in Bluetooth mode.
Would I recommend this product as is?
-No, it has one job as a Bluetooth keyboard and somehow fails at that very thing.
-The buttons go 'click click' though, so 10/10
my k6 is two years old and works great, except the USB-C port seems to be a little loose. sometimes it'll have intermittent connection issues when moving it. I've heard this because keychron's keyboards don't like using any other USB cable but the one they come with. unfortunately that cable is too short.
Not sure if this helps at all but ive had about 3 K6s, only one had any issues with it. The right shift stopped working after I did a couple switch swaps. I was given a new keyboard by Keychron for this as I didnt know how to fix it at the time. The second one still works fine and I gave it away to a friend for a gift. Got a third one to build for my gf and hers has been fine. All are over a year old with the first two being about a year and half and the third just under a year. No issues with any of the boards except for the issue mentioned already. May just be anecdotal but worth mentioning imo
how are they now, since this was 3 years ago?
@@BryanMiraflor no issues besides one with a broken right shift. I could replace the hotswap socket but I've moved on to other boards. I sold the other two to friends.
This channel deserves more subs! Love from the Philippines
Love right back!
I just order the keychron keyboard hopefully mine won’t have these problems
Best of luck!
idk but ive owned the k6 for about 7 months and i haven't rlly run into any issues, i checked the latency and its perfect and i haven't had missed keystrokes or random characters types and i keep this keyboard plugged in very often and use it every day and it has never stopped working for me , i read that the battery wiring was the problem so i speculate that some k6's have abd wiring while some have good wiring and i'm happy to have good wiring so, the only slight complaint is that the bluetooth isn't amazing but i don['t really need it anyways.
We just got our K6 today and we'll see how it goes. We got the most basic model figuring that there's less things to go wrong. The key switches are mechanical, not optical, so that's one less thing to go wrong. Another thing we don't miss are the fancy multiple colors, one less thing to go wrong. We got our from Amazon so there's an easy an easy 30-day return policy.
Best of luck to you! Hope everything works out well.
How did it go? I just bought one.
@@RiceBowlS3 hows the keyboard after 1 month?
@@iidvrk8490 it’s amazing, sounds waay better than my old keyboard and is much better to type on, my only complaint is that the rgb is a bit dim but that’s about it.
fair point,QA might be an issue
Well that's incredibly bad luck man, had the k6 for a while and its been working perfectly, my favorite keyboard!
got ducky one 2 tkl for 3 yrs. no single issues and in very good condition
How tf is this at all relevant to a Keychron K6 video?
hey, i know that this is late but in order to disable auto sleep mode, you have to hold down fn + S + 0 for 3 seconds.
Weird. The first year it didn't cause any issues and now when I modded it it works even better lol
Damn, I just ordered the k8 pro. I hope it last or else I'd be super mad😢😑😤
interesting, i just got my aluminum, bt, hotswappable version, fingers crossed i dont run into what you did as this is my first mech keyboard. I notice sometimes there is a slight delay with typing sometimes which is probably when idol for a while
Yeah. For me it was due to the "auto sleep" mode. There is a way to turn that off if you want the keyboard to stay on all the time to avoid the delay. But it does drain your battery faster.
I have had my keychron k6 since christmas 2020 and its still working great no problems
Nice! Hope it keeps going strong!
Have the exact same problem with mine! Had it for a couple months, I usually use it on wireless mode, so sometimes I get busy with things and just forget to charge my keyboard, everytime i let the battery completely die, its a pain because I have to wait for it to fully charge to use it again, and sometimes it would take a while to turn on, and sometimes even when its fully charged it still wont turn on, just something with the internal parts of the keyboard i guess. now its finally not turning on at all despite the light being green, all the problems you described ive went through with this keyboard, i would press one key, and it would type like a bunch of other keys and type on its own. but right now im struggling to even get it on after charging it all night. want to love this keyboard so bad!
I’m sorry to hear that! Their customer service did try to help me and even sent a replacement. So maybe that’s an option if you have the time. But I understand your frustration.
Thanks for the heads up. Very disappointing. At this point, Keychron owes you a hand tested replacement. Nothing less. Ignore the shills.
Hello, really nice review of the product! Wanted to ask whether it would be possible to use the BT and Cable switch as a "KVM" switch between 2 devices?
It is possible to make it kinda work as a “KVM”
That’s pretty terrible luck! I bought my K6 in 2019 and it worked great until I broke the PCB while switching switches. It was totally my fault, I was just careless. Since then, I’ve bought a new one as my daily driver and its been working great (fingers crossed). It’s a little modded (panda stabs, lubed glorious panda switches, and drop skylight whites, with some padding in the case) and sounds great. I’m just hoping yours was a bad batch. Either way, nice video keep up the good work!
Thank you for the kind words. I hope your keebs continue doing great!
You are making a review but the most important you didn't do is strike the keys to test the sound🤣
He's doing a review, not a demo. He gets to choose which aspects he wants to talk about, and he chose to only focus on the product's longevity.
Yes gonna share this video to my friends
Dang dude, that really sucks. Still great quality content and appreciate the vid :)
Much appreciated!
I have the keytron k 6 and I got it for Christmas’s I have had no problem so it might just be you
Hopefully it stays that way!
I cant connecat my keyboard to bluetooth. I have put it in pairing mode and have made sure it was on windows mode. But it just wont work (The keyboard wont even show up in Bluetooth connections) can anyone give me any tips?
gamakay mk61 has been great on me.
Mine is still going strong. I love it except I wish the light key would be delete. That would make it perfect. I did map left ctrl+backspace to delete which helps a little.
Great video dude!
Nice hack! Yeah that light key was killing me. But I’m glad yours is still kicking!
I've been using keychron k6 for a month now, so far there is no problem for now. Hope the keyboard will not end up like yours. Thanks for the review Bro!! Love your video!
just got it used for 30 usd from a friend honestly after a week of use I really didn't like it.
I know, I watched this a year to late. well I was just searching for some reviews on this keyboard and now I am doubting to get the keychron k6 Orrrrr the ducky one 2 Sf. can someone help me?
I think Keychron has gotten a lot better since I made this video. I’ve built other K6s for friends and have the Q1 and Q2 and they’re all fine. I think mine was probably a bad batch. I also have the One2 SF RGB. It’s also great. You sacrifice aluminum case for plastic and hot swap tho.

Hi, I recently bought the K6 (browns) and as my first mechanical I am really happy. The only thing that is bothering me is that most of the letter keys feel fine but the backspace, tab and enter keys all sound a little scratchy and very slightly squeaky. What can I do here? Will lubricating them help? Thanks in advance.
Hey, thanks for watching. I do think lubing would help. Just be wary that they might consider that voiding the warranty as it didn't come from the factory that way, and the factory warranty only covers the manufacturer's defects. Just something to think about.
Love the presentation and review. Helped me a ton. Subbed!
Thank you for the kind words! Let me know what else you'd like to see. I always appreciate feedback.
@@VeryImportantGeeks so far you're doing great. The bits of humor and personable approach is nice. You don't spend too much time on b-rolls, and don't get bogged down in specs. Personally I find long term reviews most helpful. Short term reviews and specs list/beauty shots are a dime a dozen.
@@andieluke1366 Great feedback. Thank you.
Is it harder to find keycaps with a 65% Keychron keyboard? Which Keychron keyboard layout is the easiest to find keycaps?
The keychron side pretty standard keycaps. Any base layout of a keycap set will accommodate a 65%. As long as the keycaps can fit cherry MX stems you should be ok.
@@VeryImportantGeeks I know that 65% Keychron Shift key is smaller than normal full size keyboard. So I’m afraid it’s not going to fit.
Ah yes. A lot of keycaps sets I have bought come with multiple shift sizes to accommodate. But it never hurts to find out the exact measurements. What has been the most problematic has been finding the right size bottom row keys. Sometimes the windows/function/ctrl/cmd are 1u, sometimes they’re 1.5u. But all the info should be readily available.
If you have some sets in mind and need help I can help verify for you if needed as well. Just let me know.
@@VeryImportantGeeks Omg thank you so much! So the Keychron keys are 1u or 1.5u? Is it harder to find keycaps with a 65% Keychron keyboard? Which Keychron keyboard layout is the easiest to find keycaps?
I got a Keychron K3. A beautiful keyboard. I couldn’t Bluetooth sync it with my Mac. After numerous retries. It did work with a wire. It worked with my IPad and iPhone. I don’t have time for nonsense, so I returned it. I got a Royal Kludge RK84.
My k6 work well with Bluetooth and cable
that is a very peculiar issue! I just got my K6 as well, and mine is the aluminium one, and if i ever get any of these issues, i will report to ya if more than just you experience this.
I jsut tried to flex mine (which is a bit hard considering i have the alu one) and mine did not turn on the RGB. But will report to you if it just dying ever happens to me.
I also have 5 years of warranty in my country, so if it happens after 1-4 years, i'll come back hehe.
Yep, took me apparently less than a month for me to have it failed on me as well. Repeatedly having to take out the cable and plug it in again for it to live again as i can press the windows key, it lights up, then dies after a sec or 2 again until i replug the cable.
@@Duckers_McQuack I'll be getting one soon so hopefully I don't have the same issues
@@seangarcia1806 turns out it was the cable. So got a new cable from the store I bought it from and now works fine again, and you can use any USB C cable that allows data
Great video bro! I just purchased my own k6 and so far not having those issues, hopefully you’ll get yours fixed soon coz my unit is working flawlessly.
Enjoy! I hope it continues to work well!

a review without showing how the keyboard sounds ??
Thought about picking this board up since it’s on sale on amazon. Starting to think maybe it’s best I just pass on this one
To be fair, I think I’m in the minority of bad experiences. Use my review as a data point and good luck with whatever you end up getting!
Seems like you were a very rare outlier in a very large sample size because these keyboards sell like hotcakes. I suppose you just got a bad unit because I've had mine for almost 1 year and have never experienced these issues. This is still my favourite 65% keyboard.
I have this and I love it
That’s great! I hope it keeps being awesome for you.
@@VeryImportantGeeks thanks, keeping fingers crossed 🤞
Were you using mechanical or optical switches?
These were the optical switches
@@VeryImportantGeeks This could be the source of the repeating keys and actuating keys with flex, I have experienced similar with gateron and razer optical switches. However it doesn't explain the dead board issues, but this is probably with PCB. As you like the board, maybe worth trying another board with mechanical switches?
Just letting you know that a small Allen Key would also take those off. I have the same K6 and that's how I got into it.
Funny story, I eventually found one that fit because I had one leftover from an IKEA desk I built 😂. And loosening helped for a bit but then it messed up again. Really must’ve been a bad batch or something.

@@VeryImportantGeeks yeah currently i have no problems except the rattling stabs, will my warranty voided if i lube the stabs and switches?
@@VeryImportantGeeks and your video was very informational as well, thank you
@@Agent_Alpha The Keychron warranty page seems to suggest that only manufacturer's defects are included in the warranty. If anything goes wrong while lubing your stabs and switches, I would be very surprised if they fixed it. Just a word of caution there. But if you've had it for more than a year anyway, I believe you are out of warranty and then you couldn't hurt anything.

RGB seems a little dim compared to my g910 Orion
And keycaps are a little glossy compared to my old keyboard, got any keycap recommendations?
It definitely takes some time to get used to but I prefer the space savings. I wish you the best of luck!
@@Nabee_H they’re definitely ABS so they’re going to be glossy and only get worse over time. I prefer PBT key caps because they have a bit more texture which keeps them from being glossy but that’s personal preference. Key caps can be their own rabbit hole but I used a DROP skylight keycap set on my NJ68 and I like them. Try KBD fans, keycult, or even r/mechmarket on Reddit. Plenty of places. Maybe I’ll do a video on where to get some sometime.
Turns out, my K6 was dying a lot not because of the pcb, but apparently a bad cable. So seems like they cheaped out on it, as bluetooth works fine.
It’s a more budget mech keyboard from a less known “indie” keyboard brand, so questionable quality control can probably be expected.
It’s too high
