5” of rain is better than a drought!
Had 36" in three weeks, 12" one day, here in my part of Texas. Lost everything, including a lot of precious soil. My 98 year-old uncle always talked of the 1950-53 devastating years of extreme drought and always said he'd take that over an extreme amount of rain. How right he was. It will take years for my family farm to recover.
We currently( in Hungary) speeding to a drought so hard, I can't even cry. It's because we did finish wheat pretty fast, but the corn already burning up and the same goes for the pollen in the tassel. They say 37°C today and 22 °C at night. It's sucks to see when your hard work just turning yellow months before it should. There are farmers who already moved the corn, because of the heat and the lack of rain.
Even with irragation, it is very Hard to mitigate the burn on corn during flowering stage, with temperatures like that. The solution might be to plant earlier to try not the catch the intense heat stage of the year and try to get the crop to develope as early as possible. I pray for some very humid days in Hungary.

Thanks much Mike for the update...and crop conditions discussion... so interesting. Take care - get some rest once in a while.
Right! That's what I was supposed to do 😂🤷🏼♂️
@@mikemitchell2554How mutch dose it cost tu run sprayer for 1h, and how mutc it cost to run airtractor for 1h??
Hey Mike, sounds like the frogs are loving the wet weather. Hope you get some rain down south.
My Crop looks like yours at the South Farm past 3 years…. I’m glad yours looks good you deserve it!!!!
You are truly blessed with that north farm.
🙏 good night from Richmound SK 🇨🇦
There was a fellow from north east Saskatchewan who compared June 2023 and 2024 and found that 2024 was over 9 degrees cooler average temperatures. That is a lot of difference.
I think they said on global news sask, it's been on avg a colder spring than that.
That's an outstanding crop!!!
thanks for the north farm crop tour Mike. Your durum and canola crops looking fantastic. Always a gamble seeding low areas , most years it works. Come September/October harvest, you should see really strong yields from the north farm , flea beetles cantake the fun out of growing canola !!
Thanks Mike always appreciate ur videos hope u have a big time bumper crops this season u deserve it keep videos coming all my best to u and yours.
Hey Mike!
That lodging, and a little tip burn, in a wet year, makes it look like you have a bit of copper deficiency
The July heat will always determine what happens with the dryland crop. Seeing the same thing happen here too southern Alberta. Good early stand but nothing down deep to root into. We will see...
Feast to famine but reverse lol. I'm hoping for a bumper crop for you and your family down south Mike!
Mike won’t lie to ya think this the first time I’ve seen lushes green plants on your channel 😂
Interesting vid Mike, thanks!
Crops pretty decent in sw mb ..some fields have water still in spots .
We are way behind due to excess moisture in SE Missouri, US. Also, I have used double the amount of chemical this year trying to keep the fields clean. Good Luck!
Crop's looking good.
We are also having a wet cold spring & summer, in the the UK.
5:39 the eagle in the background is neat!!
Need a heap of drones Mike. You would really have fun. Work and play at the same time.
Nice looking crops
Your truck looks quite dirty Mike.😉
Hola desde chile un abrazo amilo mike quie tengas una buena cosecha vendiciones
We have that in a day Mike in the UK 🤣🤣
Salut Mike magnifique vidéo et les grands champ de blé et magnifique et pouce bien 😂😮😅😊
Morning
Wow, your crops are green and lush.. hopefully going to be your best yield for a long time..
It's not trash it's residue
Mike, have you thought about getting a drone to augment ground units/reduce need to wait for a plane?
Do you guys use growth regulator spraying to keep the plant length down?
Mike, what type of weatherstation do you use? I'm searching for something like that because I'm not home during the week...
What about the big drones that seem to be able to spray large acres very quickly with fungasides etc ???
It’s looking good man, the mozzies are Sh!t world wide bro
Mike,
Call the boys from Ohio.
They have drones which can spray. Millennial Famer had them on video several days ago ?
I don't think the drones could begin to cover the acres.
@@tapitXq9
2 drones - I believe close to a thousand acres per day or just a little less.
How are things looking at the south farm now? Some durum and canola are going back real fast. Noticed canola yesterday had an ugly red color to it, and leaves were drooping.
Didn’t seed canola … thankfully!
Our crops are ok for now. Going to need another soaker after this heat.
Going backwards.... 😢
You need to use a lemkin to work that quarter up a bit.
When will drones do all the spraying on your farms?
Spray with drones?
Just watched MF and they were showing off drones spraying! I wil admit that could very likely be viable, esp. With wet weather !
Mike why not plow in some 6 inch tile through the middle of the slews
If you cant get a place, maybe try that drone spraying company that visited the Millenial Farmer
I think they r only us
Hey Mike, how did the pond/water reservoir fill up you dug at the north farm? and are you guys still digging the one at the south farm?
Mike I have a question. I and several others have given you the good advice to get vertical knives as crop dividers. Especially in canola and other troublesome crops, they are good to have. Have you got them? Or do you carry on as before?
What did you seed in the slews? Water crystals?
Which nutrients are you spraying Mike?
no tile up there in the ground Mike?
thats why prices in europe going down
But the crop looks good though.👍
👋😊
How big is the north farm
How far north in Saskatchewan is the north farm? Like as far north as they farm up there or is there more farms further north yet from there?
Near banked Sask 1 hr north of fort quapelle
What is with Grashopper? Last year lots of them and this year Not? Is that normal? Or do they come later? Greetings from Germany
Grasshoppers tend to be worse in drier years. Probably won't see any in the North this year, but could still get them this summer in the South if he doesn't get rain.
👍
Any oats this year?
Farmers are never happy, lol not enough rain too much rain, lol
Mike you need to spray yourself before, you enter the field, i like your videos and respect your farming knowledge and expertise but the bug thing is a bit of a distraction.wishing you a profitable growing season cheers
How long have you been waiting to say, " head in the boot ".
What's happened to global warming . Scotland is wet and colder as well.
La Nina hopefully giving way to a return of El Nino conditions over the next few months, so less rain, more blue skies, and colder over winter. 65% chance according to latest NOAA Enso forecast. We could all do with a change as even down south near London its been cold, cloudy and wet since last autumn. My Dad is 89 and never had as long a period like this one!
See millennial farmer this week re giant drones thinking they will spray whole farms
What a kick in the 🥜 it would be to lose the south farms crop to the hot/dry then lose the north farms crop to endless rain events… 😅
