Big bud 1978. Glad its working. Was into farming back in 1970s. Hogs, chicken, dairy, crops. One beef cow, brown. One pony. Child then. Back to big bud remember the launch or farm magazine advertising big bud. Since the farmer needs a tractor. Hugh tractors 🚜. Great video...
In the mid 60's I rented a neighbor's farm that had been in the first long term reserve program, didn't have a Big Bud, used a 530 John Deere gas and a 3-14 semi-mounted plow, of course it was only 80 acres! I was only 14 then, plowed up plenty of rocks too! Planted soybeans there wasn't much for herbicide then was a weedy mess the first year.
CRP= Conservation Reserve Program. Program started in 1986-1987 and still exists today. At one time there was about45 million acres enrolled into CRP. Love seeing old iron turn soil.
Watching the Big Bud pull the ripper through the sod was mesmerizing. I think that is exactly what that machine was made for. Drone footage was beautiful.
Nice video of digging up the ground!! Always enjoyed when my Grandpa would plow and get the smell of fresh dirt. Mr. Welker, thanks for your video of your vaca!!!
Thanks for taking us along on your trip Mr. Bob. MT is so beautiful. It's been 30 years since my last visit and I do so love it up there. It was kind of you to include us and to teach us about the area in NW MT. Your puns are as great as ever. God bless all the Welker Family.
Thank you Mr. Welker, for showing that to . The devide. Because chances are i will never get there in person. Farmed in Illinois to 1987. your farming its a lot different than Burlington Illinois.
A little western Montana geography lesson. Stunning. The mountain views! I have had the pleasure of doing a little backpacking in the Appalachians and the southern Rockies, but not the northern Rockies. That rugged country in western Montana is truly breathtaking. Thanks so much for taking us with you and sharing some of the Big Sky state with us.
Actually Dennis it’s the other way around. The Blue Ridge is a subset of the Appalachian Chain which goes from Georgia up to Maine. Some would also question your statement about the Rockies in Washington state - Many geologist claim those are a separate set of mountains known as the Columbia chain and are separate geologically from the Rockies
My wife and I just did the trip from Prince George BC to Waterton NAt'l park , I almost went in to Montana and explored Where you went Bob .. Thanks so much for the guided tour .

Thanks for showing my hometown of Libby! We lived southeast of town alongside the Cabinet wilderness on a home farm/ranch. Appreciate the nod to Montana Farming. Glacier park makes me homesick.
I am constantly amazed by your drone flying Nick, 5:28 is amazing. I was thinking "no way is he going to, yep, he's going to, wow he flew through the middle". I still remember when you were strafing and it hit the bud, man you could tell you were so mad immediately after but you kept your cool. Keep flying!
I was born in 83, all i've ever understood about crp is bad, "big brother" type stuff, apparently what i remember of it, was my my great uncle and grandpa talking about it was, the farmers would only get like 1/16 of what they would have normally got, and some farms where basically forced into doing it, someone (county / state ??) told my uncle he was going to put in 16,000 acres into crp if he liked it or not, I dont know all the details of it, and I remember very little but I do remember my uncle swearing he would burn half of west texas before they touched his land, and kill anyone who tried to take it, (again, most of what i remember is sketchy at best). Plus he owned the cotton gin / warehouse and bought and sold cotton from all over west texas, then moved into farming insurance side of it when i was old enough to know what was going on (guess it all worked out in the end), guess my much older cousins didnt want anything to do with farming.
Gotta love Papa Bob and his best buddy Coby hanging out working. Sitting on that front fender just watching had me cracking up what a great dog and remember what dog spelled backwards is. So if that's Maria's Pass then the Marias River should be close - that's the one Meriwether Lewis explored and ran into trouble with some Indians - iirc Lewis led some men up the Marias and they were sleeping overnight with some Blackfeet - who tried to steal John Colter's rifle at first light - that little skirmish ended up with a Blackfoot shot in the stomach and put them in big trouble and Lewis and his small group got out of there in a hurry - knowing Blackfeet would be hot on their trail. Nice little history tour Bob. I had a college friend from Libby. Sometimes wonder what happened to him. He was quite a artist. Had a Willy’s keep we had a lot of fun in. Reminded me about him when you were giving that tour. Never have been up that way.
