- With the upcoming release of the Kamen Rider Geats summer movie, I figured it was time to go back a year and take a look at the previous summer movie where he made his debut, Kamen Rider Revice Battle Familia. Oh, and Birth of Chimera since that exists and ties into the movie, might as well talk about it as well.

I do love the design of chimera and daimon, especially chimera. I wish he had more screen time, even if its for a special or something.
They'd need to probably remake the suits for both of them now if they wanted to do more with them, since they both had pieces used from them to make Juuga's suit.
I think they kinda wasted Kamen Rider Igarashi in this movie, i was hoping that Kamen Rider Igarashi can actually fight with Daimon, but instead Igarashi just beat up some few Giff Junior and Giffatrian and never apperance again in the movie, which is very disappointing to me.

Another problem is due to how chimera and daimon share the same suit, they can't have them fight each other in rider form too
It’s kind of ironic that the Donbrothers movie said it sucked and to watch the Revice movie instead but in reality, it’s the reverse.

Bruh, Nozomu should have gotten his get back. It's also kinda weird that Genta, who doesn't know this guy is telling him "Your parents wouldn't want this" like he knows him like that.
Also lets have the people who wanted to atone for being cultists, dress up in their cultist attire. TBH, I think the confusion came from the actor himself.
Finally, the pregnant lady is dumb.
The movie in general just feels like when you’re trying to reach the word limit for your essay and you just start making shit up. The whole bit with Yukimi’s inner demon feels like the ass pull of the century cuz we had literally zero reason to believe she had one, let alone one of the special ones, and Igarashi ultimately felt like an excuse for a fight scene and a new toy to sell. The Chimera stuff was incredibly wasted they built up Nozomu’s hatred for Azuma and while i like the conclusion of it, it felt like Birth of Chimera meant nothing in the long run, least they could’ve done was give us a Chimera vs Daimon fight instead of Azuma beating him up untransformed *again*. Azuma himself is cool tho, short time with him but a sweet one. Overall tho, Its just a huge amount of wasted effort and very limited time with characters that could’ve been very cool if they’d just let them cook a little longer
Daimon's actor first became a Super Sentai member, Ultraman and now a kamen Rider. We've come full-circle.
Kane Kosugi carried the film especially the ending fight with ikki’s actor. The one on one fight out of suit is amazing.
For me, the biggest missed opportunity with this movie is that Kamen Rider Igarashi was only used against a bunch of regular grunts and not to finish off Daimon.

Nozomu's mom is also played by Ninja White Tsuruhime from Kakuranger which is unfortunate cause she got nothing to do
The only positive I can give it is that I like the theme song for the movie
Not to mention Azuma's actors father was a stunt actor for hollywood in the 70s and 80's. No wonder Kane Kosugi has so many out of suit stunts.
It’s funny that the infamous line “Ghost can’t have dinner, I want to have dinner” scene from the Ghost movie is more well-put than this Revice movie with having a mom name her newborn baby after a guy who did nothing and have no interaction with
Chimera has to be one of my favorite suits and drivers personally. I thought it was clever how it felt like they mixed certain animals that normally wouldn’t be considered “popular choices”.
My theory on the Geats cameo was that it must have been a special DGP(before Geats ep 1) mission and the reward Ace got was the Revice buckle(Revice finale)
Or...if Vin Diesel produced a rider movie. Lots of moving parts that don't quite work together, and someone saying family every other scene
I often go into a lot Kamen Rider summer or crossover movies with really low expectations. The way I see it, is as just some dumb, fun bonus content where I can just turn my brain off and not have to think too hard about what’s going on. So with that mindset, I thought these movies were serviceable, the music and the fights were enjoyable especially the fight between Ikki and Daimon untransformed. But there’s just not a lot to them other than that.
I'm really with Thomas on this one. I feel like this movie was made months before they even started production the actual end of Revice, because it feels so afraid to do anything or reference the last few episodes as if they either didn't have the scripts fully finished or were told not to do anything related. I hate throwing this around, but it honestly feels like a teenagers fan fic for the summer movie that was wrote before they finished watching the series....
It does felt that way when they forcefully insert the deadman outfit scene too,
So the problem is identity crisis?

well i do not agree with your opinion on these two since i don't think these two are pointless since is still ties with jyuga, and is still keep the familly theme
Yeah as someone who loves Revice I really don’t like these summer specials except for Azuma since he was cool, but they feel completely unnecessary to the season and you can just honestly skip em next two films are way better and with one of them being one of my fav rider crossover movies
huge part of hiromi's character post-return and in the movie happened in the Dear Gaga spinoff so if you still haven't checked that out I heavily recommend you do before watching the Demons V-Cinema, as it's own thing it's also pretty good in my opinion! so you should definitely check it out eitherway :D
I agree Toei jumped the shark in this one why hype up a new rider than have him curb stomp within 11 seconds as well as have his whole revenge plot denied honestly I'd rather have him and Iklki double team the other Chimera rider
note that when the mom had the moment where she summons the angel, they literally drop the bail song, which made me scratch my head, who the hell thought this was a good idea?
Zero One solo movie: Great pacing
Saber solo movie: feels like they had to cut stuff to get the half hour mark exactly
Revice solo movie: TERRIBLE PACING!
I am never gonna touch this movie, but I did watch Birth of Chimera, which was just ok. It's funny how many Kakuranger actors were in it though.

My main gripe about battle familia is that:
Wtf was the point of having the mom have that angel thing like it literally is never explained and brought up again in the series and movie, not even explained in the geats x revice movie.
They couldve introduce kamen rider igarashi like this:
The demons somehow break control of daimons control without the help of mama igarashi's whole angel thing and then a whole ass cliche miracle happens and the fifty gale vistamp is there
It isnt as better then the movie explanation but at least they dont have to incorporate someone theyre never gonna talk about again
I will say this…We did get Destream action and Dance Dance is a banger
The only things I liked about the movie were The IDEAS, not so much the Execution. I also though "Wait, they already saved their parents and got the new form? But there is still Time!"
The "Go With the Flo" song because I genuinly enjoy that song and its MV. (Gotta Love the actors having fun and being silly)
And although not the best executed on concept, I liked the fight Between Ikki and Azuma
And... Well... The Igarashi siblings in those ""Military"" clothes... Ehem... **Coughs in Biromantic** Ikki in particular looked so good, I'm Sorry 🤭
I think they knew what they were doing with that style choice, the actors themselves pointed out how those suits wouldn't really protect sh*t 😆
Man this is my favourite kamen rider movie I've seen and now I have to see it get rip to shards before my eyes yeahh I guess
Well I think in ex aid movie he didn't use again because he was in vr metaverse and this may be usable only in vr .
And in zero one movie it was the key to activate an artificial world and every human's consciousness in there so aruto took and as we saw he went berserk so izu had to stop him so that's why he didn't use it again
Well is not the best movie but is fun all the way and the song is really catchy but yeah Chimera need more screen time and even the Donbrothers movie is even pointless too
Wow I haven’t even seen Birth of Chimera, or any other Revice special except for Vail and, THAT one (if you’ve seen me in the comments sections of Revice stuff you know what I’m talking about). I will admit that I kinda liked the Chimera and Daimon suits, but the rest of Battle Familia is bad. I had the exact same reaction to the Deadmans reunion

Honestly, there is just too much happening in this movie. Like why was there a pregnant woman?! Why did we have to waist time with that and the fusion form, when we could have done more with Chimera?!
Chimera is such a cool concept, mixing multiple animals together into one stamp is awesome. I really wish the movie was just focused on chimera and Daimon, that would have been so much better.

Those two were pretty okay, don't get me wrong. But Battle Familia makes no sense, just like you said Thomas. I really loved Jiraiya from Kakuranger became Kamen Rider Daimon and the designs for Chimera and Daimon are cool
The one thing I'm disappointed is Kamen Rider Igarashi. He just appeared one minute to defeat Giff Junior and Giffatrian and the next thing, he never shows up again. What a letdown. And also Live and Jeanne never used their final forms in the movie, which it was a total letdown as well since Revi and Vice were the only ones who can go into their final forms!
Battle Familia was nice, I enjoyed watching it. Call me a fanboy but I enjoy it when my favorite goobers are presented on a screen and do goofy shit :D
Ironic how the ultra-serious Revice movie was so bad, meanwhile the ultra-silly Donbrothers movie was pretty decent, if not better than Battle Familia.
The only good thing about the movie it’s the song: Dance Dance
yes, this movie does suck. the movie can get shortened to non existence when you realize the good guys didn't even have to do anything to defeat the Daimon since he just died of running out of immortality
This movie was so hyped….and yet it disappointed everyone.
I mean. The visuals are amazing, but this story is beyond boring and it could’ve been a two parter story in the show

from the finally giving a backstory to Akaishi, Daimon being a fantastic villain, Ikki finally being the main spotlight in the last minutes was also amazing and the raw action with Ikki and Daimon was top tier.
Geats' cameo was mid, Nozomu was meh as well and Birth of Chimera sucked too but idc the movie is great.
Damn… it’s been a while since I’ve commented on one of your videos, but when the blue moon occurs when you make a video on something that I actually managed to see beforehand, then I figure there wouldn’t be any greater time.
Anywho, enough about that, my thoughts.
When I first watched these two back in (I don’t know, 4-5 months ago?), I came out of it thinking they were pretty enjoyable. It was later on when I was reflecting on writing my own adaption on Revice (I have a hobby of reimagining and writing toku shows within my vision) that I really started to think about these too and become frustrated with the end result. Now I see them as mindless action movies with a weird sense of direction.
I share the same thoughts with you on Birth of Chimera. It is an absolutely pointless web episode that offers nothing new to the summer movie while showcasing characters that are neither engaging nor important.
As for Battle Familia, I wouldn’t say it’s worse than its prequel (only because I didn’t find it to be as boring), but what it does leaves behind an incoherent mess. Like you said, for being a character we spent an entire web episode focusing on, Nozomu is completely pointless to the plot of the movie. The deadman trio show up in their old attire for no other reason other than to fight and only around the tail end of the movie. Yukimi’s inner demon literally comes out of nowhere for as this deus ex machina before ceasing into the void. Also, I didn’t find Vice all that annoying because of how shafted he is in the movie, especially in the second half. Way to make the whole demons being mind-controlled plot line worth something am I right? There isn’t much else I can say because you’ve already said my feelings on the movie.
Yeah, the action in the movie was pretty great (Hiromi in particular was really badass), but when the movie has the whole “family drama” that abruptly concludes around the half way point before transitioning to action that bears no weight on the overall story other than to stretch out the movie, the cool action can only go so far before it ends up becoming something that actually clashes against the rest of the movie.
Also, I haven’t watched Movie Battle Royal, but I have seen the Live and Evil and Demons V-cinema. I really didn’t like it.

These two are connected yet sort of are disjointed and stitched together which is evidence by your review here.
yeah, the mom having the power is...a joke. with the whole thing being built around veil's core. it's the result of... injections of power...
the whole thing with chimera and daimon, was to justify the toy. they aren't bad, but they really weren't needed in the lineup
the whole prequel is in line with the "behind the scene there's stuff going on, but focus on revi and vice" the serie does. the film really, really did not fell necessary, and vice it's at it's worst IMO
also, I believe that chimera and daimon will got he way of gaoh, appearing in ancillary media, but never really again on screen
Truly, the movie felt pointless. There's a lot of plot going on, but viewers are not given enough time to feel or entertained before it move on the next plot. The devil becoming evil part is pretty good and lengthy, but for the rest? I really hadn't admire Igarashi enough and the story moves on to another plot. I cannot feel the main villain's sorrow since the movie only showcase a guy cring at dead women instead of giving each partner an actual romance. And even Geats' cameo, what's he doing there?! (God I really wish heisei-era style of cameo return where we actually see the new rider's personality)
And for a movie suit, it is indeed audacious not to put Igarashi at the final battle.

while i do think that Battle Familia is great (despite its flawed nature), i am very disappointed within the presence of Chick as well as the debut and how they utilized the form of Kamen Rider Igarashi.
Revice Forward is a lot more frustrating and arguably one of my least favorite KR movies to exist

It was a mess. Too many characters. Too many plot line elements.

Geats X Revice movie is really bad due to pacing,revice role in the movie and ending which is so questionable
Well, I just watched today and I got to say, out of many short plots surrounding different KR movies, this one drastically felt short and as this video stated the pacing is a drastic mess in this film.
Though I have to admit, that final fight between Revi and Daimon was pretty great.
I actually liked all the rider suits in this EXCEPT for Igarashi but to be fair, I was never a fan of fusion rider forms (except for double) because they always have that goofy shtick where you have one rider having multiple conversations with himself 😂
honestly agree with basically everything in this except for that last point about Vice specifically because, while annoying, I found Chic to be that much more insufferable it completely trumps Vice's dumb one-liners
Look I like Revice but holy shit these two were bad. Basically, the entire message of Nozomu's character arc is that he shouldn't throw his life away because his family wouldn't want that. But it really comes off more like the message is "Stay in your lane". Hana and Tamaki being in their deadmans outfits again felt like one of those contractual obligations of "we need to have the main villains be in the film even if they contribute nothing to the story". You know despite the fact that the two of them already reformed. I honestly can't remember why Ikki wanted to fight Azuma again and what his speech was to him. It was so bad and not thought out that I literally forgot about it.

I don't think a movie form has been more meaningless to a movie's plot than Kamen Rider Igarashi. It literally shows up, beats up a bunch of useless mooks in a warehouse, and then vanishes into the night like Tuxedo Mask, never to be heard from again.
It's amazing how many parts of this movie are just USELESS wastes of space.
Kamen Rider Chimera? Destroys 1 repainted Deadman, then gets his face punched in by an unmorphed Daimon in less than a minute, cementing himself as the lamest Kamen Rider in history, then proceeds to do literally nothing for the rest of the movie.
Those other two mooks who murdered Chimera's family? Get replaced with generic Gifterians. They don't even get a generic Deadmans form. Why were they even there?
The Deadmans Trio? Do one bit of nostalgia bait, beat up a bunch of mooks, and Olteca gets a Chimera Driver but never transforms with it for some reason.
Yukimi's weird CGI angel thing? Shows up, gives the prerequisite movie tie-in toy, and disappears never to be explained or mentioned again.
Vice, THE ACTUAL CO-PROTAGONIST OF THE SERIES? He gets corrupted by Daimon for the first half, gets freed by Yukimi's stupid angel thing, and then does ACTUALLY NOTHING for the rest of the film. He doesn't even get to participate in the final fight. You could replace Vice with a cardboard cutout of Subaru Kimura, giving the audience the middle finger, and it would be about as useful as Vice is in this movie.
Also, apparently, this massive airliner that gets taken hostage only had like 20 people in it max since they somehow managed to cram all of them into a single bus.
Also, Geats just shows up, which is normally fine for these future Rider cameos, but it makes no sense in retrospect given his seasons whole premise.
This movie is a total nothing burger. NOTHING HAPPENS.
i really dont like this movie, the pacing is all over the place, and things were as if they actually made the proper setting for the movie then suddenly scramble it, like shouldnt the igarashi form used like for climax instead of just fighting goons, shouldnt geats appear like for the end . kamen rider chimera didnt get a proper closure, whats with the new mother giving birth thing about, and suddenly yukimi had this angel power BS . man this movie is a 4/10.
