@@luchomscyfy the fact that Inoue isn't allowed to watch Zenkaiger makes it better, makes the mystery of Kaito more questionable throughout the show.
Some fans speculated that Kaito and Taro shared the same fate in the finale, but then neither shows were truly connected and it's just for the sake of the gears gimmick.

Honestly I enjoyed how more....Kamen Rider this show feels. The people turning into monsters, powers created by those responsible for the messed up stuff in this world, the group clashing on a personal level and taking a while to become a proper unit. Adapting that style into a Sentai season added this sense of freshness.

Jetman (also written by Inoue) also had the disfunctional team dynamics. Honestly Sentai became much more childish the last decade, that is why Rider took over. This is what I thought for a long time Sentai needed.

@@MaxP_88 I dont necessarily agree with that sentiment. Sentai and Rider have both had their childish moments over the years (their sense of humor does seperate them from something like the MCU which I can appreciate).
My point about the dysfunctional team was to compare to how Rider handles the 'team" dynamic of their multiple riders (which aside from saber, prevents them from being called a Sentai). The fact that the Donbrothers aren't a united group until the final batch of episodes.

I think Shin-Ichiro Shirakura's various producer comments throughout DonBrothers sums up the connection between it and Zenkaiger perfectly. "Zenkaiger is calculated humor, DonBrothers is calculated madness. If Zenkaiger gives you 'Zenkai-Brain', then DonBrothers gives you 'DonBros-poisoning'."
Also I recommend checking his producers blogs if you can cuz it really does give you a really good look at the show and it's themes of what it means to be human. Similarly with him describing DonBrothers as "a mudboat which could've sank mere moments after setting sail."

These string of early 2020s Sentai (Kiramager, Zenkaiger, Donbrothers) are the first in a long time that I feel can be compared in quality to the Pre-Gokaiger era. I never thought I would see a Sentai as well written as Donbrothers again. This series is the equivalent to Jetman to the modern era, which was also written by Inoue. It's already having a similar impact. It's exactly what I was thinking Sentai was needing for a long time.

I remember being so hesitant on the cgi suits, then the rest of Donbrothers happens and it becomes one of my favorite sentai of all time.
I love the theme of how the daily lives of our heroes were affected by joining Donbrothers. They've faced lots of struggles yet still came closer and gradually became a real team. The comedic and dramatic bits balanced out each other very well. The fights also tends to be short, but I'm fine with it given how strong Don Momotaro is as to give more time for the characters.
The cast had very good chemistry, my least favorites would be Shinichi and Murasame, but I still liked them quite a bit. The Noutos are easily some of my favorite villains in sentai, and I love how they're attached to the human and being affected by them. Here's how I feel for the main characters.
I love Taro's growth as a person and his relationship with -boyfriend- Sonoi was great, which makes him my favorite character in the show.
Shinichi didn't get a lot but had an interesting trait of creating haiku for me to remember him.
Haruka's such a fun character and her facial expressions were hilarious. Sonoza's a great partner to her and them using Donbrothers as the main theme of Manga warms my heart.
Tsubasa separating from the main team was a good idea, and his relationship with Sononi aka best girl was developed very well. Poor him for being a wanted criminal for most of the show.
Tsuyoshi surprised me the most, I thought he's a lovely family man but he turns to be mentally ill about Miho, and overall had the best acting in the show.
Jiro's adorable as well, but poor him, it's so sad that his friends were just illusions. His growth was a bit slow until the end, but it's nice to see 2 Jiros combine to a nice guy yet more mature.
Overall Donbrothers was a 10/10 show for me, and tied with Timeranger becoming my 2nd favorite right behind Gokaiger. Donbrothers was amazing and easily a recommend from me.

From what I have readed Jiro's slow growth and development along the time where he barely appeared was because Inoue couldn't bear the sadness of his plotline... And we are talking about the guy that killed Black Condor, gave us Faiz and also created a scene of Kijino suffering a mental breakdown over the Miho and Tusbasa stuff that was cut because it was considered too dark for the show.

The Don Clan has an *AI* that recruits potential members of DonBrothers to aid Tarou
Also for me Jirou had the *BEST 6TH RANGER BACKSTORY I'VE EVER SEEN FOR A WHILE* because his whole life and childhood *WAS A LIE* because all of his friends are just *ILLUSIONS* created by his adoptive father a Penguin Juuto and when the Penguin juuto and its original host died Jirou's friends disappear and that messed up Jirou for a few episodes before he became one with Dangerous Jirou

This was the first season of Super Sentai I’ve watched. I know that automatically makes it my favorite, but I doubt I can enjoy another one as much as Donbrothers. I recently got into tokusatsu by binge watching Ultraman Z and found your channel. Donbrothers was just about to premier and I said to myself “sure why not?”. Since then I’ve grown an enormous appreciation to the toku, started watching Geats (I hope it is at least half as good as Donbrothers by the end) and loved being part of the community. One thing I haven’t seen people talk about is how similar Donbrothers looks to Shinkeger and since Power Rangers Samurai was my first exposure to toku, it makes Donbrothers feel familiar, but fresh. Or maybe it’s just me seeing a similarity where there is non. Anyway, this show is amazing, Jirou deserved better, I hope Haruka’s manga is a success, Inuzuka better call Saul, Saruhara is mid, Kijino needs therapy and can’t wait for Tarou to regain his memories and finally marry Sonoi! Rest Donbrothers, regain your Tarou, invade KingOhger and make it Donbrothers season 2!

"Festival of Surprises" is definitely an accurate description for the series. Every episode attempts to out do the level of hijinks the previous one had set, one after another. It became a norm to expect crazy hijink after a while, and yet none of them felt like a bs filler. Even the false ending recap and the repeat situation episode had their own unique flare and twist to themselves. My only gripe is that not every minor plot point is explained, however, the finale felt satisfying even if it begins and end with a bittersweet tone.

me and my friends started watching this show as a joke because we saw inubro on twitter and thought he was the funniest little scrunkly, it was our first sentai show. One year later and we all felt a bittersweet kind of happiness when the show ended. We made it a habit to watch it every Monday, and we even did our own little rollcall when we finished the final episode (I was Inubro because fuck yeah inubro) but when all was said and done, it felt like I just got home after a party. I was sad that it was over but I was happy that I was there for all of it. Haven't exactly found a show that fills in the same gap that Donbros had (especially now that my epic dog man's story has concluded, generally speaking) even if my friends keep suggesting things like Geats but I think that's just a testament to how much the show meant to me. While the Nouto-Donbrothers relationship are certainly unique, they arent't exactly new
The Noutos are basically the Patrangers to Donbrothers's Lupinrangers, they are the cops of their people, Hitotsuki ruins their livelyhood so they arrests them by defeating them(which we only find out later), they attack the Donbrothers because they are criminals by the decree of the nouto government, so on their end they were just doing their job, just like how the Patrangers simply wants to destroy Ganglers, not caring about the lupin collection, and is also out to arrest the Lupinrangers, and just like Lupat, the identities of the other team only really fully revealed at the end, even tho we as viewers already know from episode 1
That aside tho, Donbrothers managed to mishmash various tokusatsu elements and storyline inside it, Lupat, Jetman, Faiz, Zenkaiger?, and even Revice(they made a much less coherrent version of Ikki's amnesia and still it made more sense than Revice), and many more into one, and Inoue made it work, not to mention the casting was superb, there's literally nobody that is unlikeable in it, there are ones that you love to hate, but none that you just hate-hate unlike say, Hikaru Ushijima in Revice
So yeah, for me Donbrothers is a very special show that is superb despite having huge plotholes here and there because the main story is still intact regardless of it and it was a very good one at that

I think it has a good character development, but not so much of plot development. I like that every episode have some sort of progress in the character, especially the Nōto becoming more and more human. But, the show never explained about the other world, the Don Clan, etc.
I think the plot is kind out everywhere is because they have so much going on that they actually need more than 50-ish episode to complete it. In the beginning Donbrother's plot seems to be about the other world that the Nōto comes from and the sequel plot line with Zenkaiser black where The Master would eventually reveal himself and explains the connection with Zenkaiger. But then the sequel plot line seems to be dropped for the Don Clan(with the arrival of Jiro and Murasame) alongside Jūto plot line. But because the season have a lot of plan for the character's development, they might find it hard to include them with the plot line they have in mind. So each fight with Hitotsuki became something that more of a job that isn't really interesting so we see more of the interaction between characters.
I like Donbrothers, but I'm a bit dissapointed that they introduced many cool plot line that ended up with no actual satisfying conclusion. The Jūto plot line just get resolved with Taro's super form, Gold Don Momotaro, the sequel plot line just gets brushed off a side and the character doesn't care anymore, the Don Clan plot line gets dropped without even explanation(the characters just accept that their power comes from somewhere and they'll just used it for good whatever the creation was actually for). There's also game elements they actually seems want to dived in, but never gets the chance because the shows have to end.
It would be cool if Donbrothers continues more than 50ish episode to dived deep with each plot line and how they're tied in together.
It would be cool if the entity that controlled Gege actually comes from the world of Don Clan and the others that finally takes matters to his own hand and spread the Anoni(the disguised humanoid monster) acrosed the world. Kaito loses his friends and the Sentai Gear so he needs to find them one by one. The Don Clan itself stirs in to chaos and their last member was sent to earth in a peach craddle with five Avataro Gears that Jii found and would then acquire the help of Kaito to recruit the Donbrother members. Kaito compensate the member that are unwillingly brought in to the chaos with points they could use to their advantage. This points are the ones that would give each of the Donbrother members their upgrades(and maybe more). On the other hand, Jii would be locked in a prison because he was hunted down by the entity.
The story would began much the same, Haruka published her book, met with Sonoi, almost got killed, accused of plagiarism, and pulled into the role of Oni Sister and fight the Anoni.
While the other members were slowly be recruited, Kaito would help with the mecha battle because they have no mecha at the moment. The Nōto itself would still be hunting Hitotsuki because it created disturbance in their world, but since the Don Clan's downfall, they're now have no restrain on the method they used on humans.
The cat Jūto that was created by the Don Clan is now gone rogue on humans and taking their appearance, the crane Jūto is manipulating humans' emotions by disguising themselve and creating many backstories for themselve. Meanwhile the penguin Jūto still on it's duty to guards the entrace to the Jūto's forest prison. The main purpose of the Jūto was that they're made to counteract the Nōto but because of some mistakes, they ended up just a crazy Nōto, except for the penguin Jūto.
The Don Murasame and Doragoku and Torabolt story would just continues. I think it would be cool if Jiro was supposed to be a twin, but when the chaos was happening, they were mixed together and that's kind of the reason why he have two distinct personalities. Meanwhile Murasame was first created by the Don Clan to exterminate the Jūto had they gone rogue, but was later taken by Nōto after the Don Clan's downfall. But Murasame gain conciousness, a save guards from the Don Clan if he had gone rogue too, the voice called "Mother".
By the way, the entity was the one in control of the Nōto. Sonoi, Sononi, and Sonoza were the first one to be created, so they're the simplest one by nature. Sono-shigoroku were the second one to be created, but because they're supposed to be a stronger version of the previous one, their emotions grows more faster. The third one to be created was the two Nōto introduced near the end of the season. They're the perfect Nōto after the entity found out the other Nōto have interest in human emotions and strong emotions that he fear they would turned against them. This two have Zero emotions, the only one they have is anger and they're fully in the control of the entity.
The entity is trying to take over the world by pushing humans to their full potential with their desires. He would then put a sentai gear into them to give them power. The Donbrother have to fight each of them while prevented Nōto from killing them. Jiro could come in as Taro's vice leader while the leader was weakened. Jiro would then need to find out his past and come into peace with his other half. Meanwhile Murasame needs to find where he needs to stand, basically searching for his place in the madness. By the end of the show, everyone would need to get together to defeat the two Nōto and the entity that takes Sonoshi's form. Haruka, Tsubasa, Kijino, and Saruhara goes back to their ordinary life while Taro, Jiro, and Murasame rebuild the Don Clan on earth and Nōto would be the overseer of the Jūto prison.
There's still some aspect left out, but that is the most that I can think of right now.

Taro losing his memory coming straight out of nowhere was just not cool with me. Revice foreshadowed Ikki losing his memories from the very start, gradually loosing more and more until he looked at his siblings and asked Vice "Who are they?" That hurt because we saw it happen in real time. I really can't help but feel Donbrothers had a lot of ideas for separate plot lines but had no idea how to wrap up the show itself.

It felt like time was wasted (in the overall sense of the greater storyline) early on, only to have a a sense "Oh s#!t! we're running out of time!" rushed ending. Admittedly, Zenkaiger had the same problem, but that more of the writers having too much fun coming up with different world monsters that they would forget how far along they were in the year.
The Noto were interesting in that all six suits were based on 60s-70s Toei Toku shows with an overall arcing theme to the main suits.
I've been watching watching Sentai with a friend since the miniseries that debuted Ryusoulger, and we both had similar thoughts on all of them. He really wants a scene that opens in the café, O.G. Kaito comes in, points his blaster at Black Kaito, and says "Found you."
But my thoughts on all four thus far are - - Ryusoulger, too many missed opportunities and I'm still angry that they managed to redeem a villain, and then turned him into a powerup gimmick for the red ranger. Kirameiger started off strong, got hampered by quarantine, but was kind of saved by fresh ideas near the end. Zenkaiger learned from the mistakes of Kirameiger, and adapted to filming during quarantine, but lost time having too much fun with the series' gimmick (which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, though). As for Donbros, it feels unfinished and not planned/fleshed out enough, leaving me with a sense of disappointment.
Looking forward, KingOhger looks ambitious, but I worry that it will fall into the same pitfall as Juspion and Kyuranger where the exotic locales will be dropped entirely for modern day Japan, and my friend is worried that it will just be a rehash of Ryusoulger.

This show while wasn't perfect was a breath of fresh air for sentai, I believe that the legacy of this show will be that of DEN O. It was a perfect show but what they did is make themselves stand out from other seasons and that makes them timeless.

As a very long standing Sentai fan, DonBrothers was a very very very needed breath of fresh air. Bringing back Jetman's writer was probably the best thing they could have done. Especially since Jetman is probably the biggest shift in Sentai story telling. The amount of call backs to older series was great too. Transforming into their own mechs sort of like MagiRanger, Kakuranger and Zenkaiger. The fact the characters are just flawed people and the fact it's not so black and white. A lot of sentai tropes being broken and redefined was also great. Again felt like early 90s-2000s sentai. It jumped to my top 10 (number 6 honestly). I'm hoping Kingohger meets the same levels of success.

Eeeeeeh...I know I'll come off like a Negative Nancy but I thought it was just okay.
I won't act like it didn't try a few things new: The Noto trio were refreshing and while some teams have to get used to each other, this is by far the first season that's done very much with that. (Though I think the show takes this a little too far at-points) I can accept and love all that.
But I don't think DonBrothers does enough with all the cool ideas it comes packaged with; due entirely to Inoue's inability to write outside of his comfort zones. The first half is a strong opener but the second half suffers entirely from a lack of motivation; the show loses all momentum and squanders its time on petty bickering and engineered "suspense", which really crunches the final episodes pay-off down. (The Kiji/Inu stuff is especially annoying. It goes on for an eternity)
The show has a lot of neat ideas but plays with maybe 0.5% of them, which makes me sad because I like what it sets up (The Noto trio are the best thing to come out of this season to me!). But this season goes from having the most ambition to having none and it just disheartens me. What should've been this groundbreaking product just became a slog of practically-abandoned storylines and unsympathetic, frankly-obnoxious bickering.
It's still in my top five Sentai and I won't call it bad, but I don't think it's quite the genre-buster it feels like it wants to be.

When they first gave the trademark for Avataro Sentai Donbrother, I did not like the name at first, and I thought it would be a lacklustre series, but no, this series exceeded my expectations. The characters' development between the Donbrother and the Noto was great. Momoi Tarou, developing from a bombastic leader to a selfless and thoughtful leader. Also, Momotani Jirou, developing from a wannabe leader to a successor, was great. Everyone is having a happy endings was a great ending, but it's too bad Momoi Tarou loses his memories and " resets " himself. Most of the questions have been answered, but some have not been answered. Hopefully the Donbrother VS Zenkaiger answers the remaining questions that need answering

FYI, that remark about the toys is something that's just a trademark of writer Toshiki Inoue. He notoriously does not care about integrating toys into his tokusatsu narratives, hence they come off as super awkwardly incorporated into the general narrative.
Also, fun fact, allegedly Inoue hadn't even watched Zenkaiger on producer Shinakura's recommendation, specifically so that it wouldn't influence Kaito's portrayal.

all of the "sequel" elements you mentioned felt more like they weren't ready to have another sentai series. the fact that both series used gears and how they recycled the mech from the previous series made it feel like they just didn't have the toyline ready and made something small-scale to fill in for the main mech. overall, i think the biggest thing holding the show back was how rushed it felt at times. shoving in plot points and characters that never really paid off as satisfying as they should as well as the tonal whiplash. it wanted to be darker, but also wanted to have a silly driving exam episode, and although it makes a wild ride, the show just looks like it's confused as to what it wants to be.
it was a great time, but i still find that other sentai series have done better overall

i dont think fun had this much fin with a Sentai in a long time. i loved everything post Zyuohger (except Ryusoulger) but Donbrothers just sparked something in me. because of how fragmented and problem-ridden everyone was, seeing them come together for a certain goal made them so good and you just want to root for them, Nouto and Murasame included. its all so interesting that, to quote a comment i read before, a fact like Tsuyoshi being the first male pink is the least interesting thing about him lmao. it played its characters and lack of usual sentai tropes so well they made the *role call* the most hype thing about the final episode. how can you do that so casually? you cant. i have been thoroughly rawdogged by Inoue on this one.
love the contrasts you mentioned with Zenkaiger and Donbrothers and how having Zenkai elements in the show made it stand out as well.
also gotta mention, Sonoshigoroku's petty little inconveniences include potentially murdering a baby lmao

4:22, that's putting it in an interesting twist.
6:45, but then again, most of the power-ups in Kamen Rider and Sentai get hyped up to be this awesome new thing but dropped later on for something new so I'm not bothered by the Gears. It's something they can whip out anytime they want if they wanted to.
8:41, it really feels like a building comic book come to life which is oddly appropriate considering Inoue is the son of the original writer of the Kamen Rider 1971 tv show - Masaru Igami. This show seems like it's gonna have future V-Cinemas which will be great to dive in when Toei gets around to it. It's world-building done right I must say.
10:47, with Inoue shows, they don't explicitly say 'That's the super sword' or 'Omg! Megazord!' They don't name drop the machines or weapon names but made them part of the scenery always fascinates me. Probably because with a lot of Toei shows now, they always seem to showcase 'This is how this toy works' over and over again. I feel with this show, if you can have the character pull out a toy for a second or two to showcase its capabilities, you can make up your own scenarios if it makes sense.
    11:13,blahblahblahblah - thomasjujube 2023 That's my fave part. XD
13:05 if Magine is Megatron...that makes Don Momotaro Galvatron.
14:34, its like Changerion. The main hero is a detective who likes girls and flirts with them and a goofball who likes mean jokes but you can still be a hero.
I like that. This proves you can't always be a goody-two shoes most of the time which that was the Sentai of the past that doesn't work now. You can still be selfish but still be a hero at the same time which I like.
14:46, her facial features do remind me of Jamie from Jingle all the way. Odd yeah but it's something I noticed. ruclips.net/video/znH1StWikHw/видео.html&ab_channel=RobertBowersock
14:54, odd their first encounter has him doing the same thing Sonoi did to her the first time. XD
14:59, he's very literal. Greed kills. xD
15:48, in your face! I'm IN YOUR FACE!! - Kijibrother to Inubrother
16:20, I love this as it makes one ranger unique compared to other archetypes before him.
16:35, I wouldn't say Kijino was a bad person. It is implied he was lonely until he met a girl named Miho (who turns out to be a Beastial copy who would rather ponder of humanity but would rather have 2 innocent men fight one another while fighting over her affection) and the things he has to deal with - shitty boss, not up to snuff with your wife, finding out your friend steals your wife, it's all crazy. If I were Kijino, I'd be running shotgun after the guy who steals my wife.
18:23, I feel this beats the shit outta Ryusoulger when it comes to this theme. This was done way better than the Minusaurs tbh.
    18:56, meanwhile...thomasjujube doesn't like Sononi: ruclips.net/video/EEt5FgQyhCU/видео.html
20:23, what they do to my boy, Minoru?!!
Sonoroku looks like Kraven the hunter.
20:59, dang!! I can see where Inoue added her persona in the show.
21:05, aye..if she says that she would your one and only: ruclips.net/video/UQQArCghJV8/видео.html

I was really hyped when I saw first episode, enough to watch the entirety of Zenkaiger beforehand because I hadn’t and DonBrothers seemed like a sequel. What really caught my attention was not just Zenkaiser Black, but also Taro’s over the top and interesting personality and the parallel world aspect of the Noto. Being at the end of DonBrothers I can very confidently say that I got none (or very little) of that. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the show, but it just didn’t deliver what I wanted it to be most of the time. I also felt like the show bit off more than it could chew as well because, as you said, they were constantly introducing more and more story elements and then letting them sit for a while with much development. This especially sucked because it felt like there was a good portion of the middle of the show that acted like filler while still introducing new concepts to the show that didn’t get any further explanation later. I wish they would have explored the idea of clans and the other world more instead of lazing about in the cafe waiting for the Hitosuki of the week. I also feel like the ending didn’t solve a lot/ feel satisfying beyond the Noto being on the team. I’m still left with so many unanswered questions that I feel would be answered if the show had more time.
And despite all of that, I love DonBrothers. The show always managed to be entertaining to me every single week even with the filler. The relationships that built up between the cast was insanely good and I loved how Inu and Kiji got more development than Taro, nice change of pace compared to recent Sentai focusing on red’s character too much. I also really liked how Inu stayed anonymous throughout the show and the twist with him at the end, his character is soo great and definitely my favorite in the show.
In conclusion, watch Toqger. I love that show.

BUT I WILL SURE TRY!, Don Brothers has to be my favorite super Sentai and one of my favorite Toku seasons in general, the super unique methods of doing things then sometimes even Rider is afraid of doing sometimes, how off the book they went with so many concepts and executions about characters and stories, I love how they change basically my problem with Zenkaiger with having humour then got to stupid and annoying levels, re working the idea of filler adventures with this crazy group of people having the best Festival or their lives, plus also just the fact then the monsters of the week never were really that relevant and we never really see a super evil world domination type villain, but is just like a group of good guys with more grey area morals, I'm a sucker for Villain redemption arcs in every kind of fiction media so basically seeing then from the very beginning to the end the original Nouto were just heroes then had different morals was a JOY to watch as the episodes went on, but what I have to give Don Brothers over any other Sentai and even PR season I have watch so far, not a single episode got me unexcited or bored, every single episode I was laughing and having fun in the festival of Don Brothers, even Filler was amazing, I loved this show from beginning to end and it's heartbreaking to let it go, I don't think there would be a Sentai as good as Don Brothers for a very long time, because this was by far the greatest FESTIVAL I HAD EVER EXPERIENCE 🙌
