      if you want to start on a high note with sentai, gogo v, timeranger, abaranger and shinkenger are pretty solid to watch. a bit older than gogo v, flashman, maskman, jetman are good. everything else are still good, but it does require you to either shut your brain off (too childish at times. so just roll with it), has a slow buildup (goranger and jakq comes to mind), or is too weird/different (the new stuff). this is coming from a guy who watched during the late 90's and early 2000's ~ early 2010's.

    the biggest change for a while with sentai was going from "watches" to "phones" and of course now, it's kinda all over the place... but yeah, it's been relatively the same in length and roll calling

    It is a kids show. But I do like it when the Writers make the Transformation feel like something, especially when the henshin actually BLOCKS attacks. Anyways, subscribed...

    the gorengers do have a transformation. they do a little spin and become their ranger forms. also, JAKQ had a pretty long transformation sequence where they’d have tanning-bed like capsules sent down from their plane so they could get in the capsule and be bombarded with energy to become JAKQ.

    Yeah it's not about the length it is about execution and also what the overal motif like Kyoryuger having a big emphasis on music has the Kyoryugers dancing. About Zyuranger. Zyuranger is part of sentais Hesei era, the last showa show is Turboranger. Currently going through the mega max trio and I love their henshin sequences especially how they relate to the theme. W downloading the form from the gaia memories as each small piece flies on like a cyclone. OOO in built and quite famous jingle "Taja, Tora, Batta" works as an announcement for a King which the original OOO was. A fanfare is used again in Gaim after each Lockseed is open. Then Fourze having the steam like a space suit all great. Also love how just angry Accel's first transformation was with the afterburner effect like "Move aside W the real hard boiled man has arrived"

    The Metal Heroes franchise's Space Sheriff shows do something unique: The transformations take milliseconds after shouting the transformation word, and then they replay the transformation but slowed down to explain how the transformations work, and they do this in every single episode!

  • @trippinsince86
    @trippinsince86 12 дней назад +2

    transformation length never bothers me tbh times have changed it’s what the kids love and want to see, plus due to the length it opens so many doors for creative transformation sequences, so my point is as long as it’s good, creative, and can bring hype and inspiration in moments of need, i am completely fine with transformation sequences

    The transformations sequences imo just needs to be at most 20 seconds. Even early heisei takes around 10 seconds. Even though usually the first transformations are usually the most bombastic n longest, the later transformations should be shorter as the viewers already have an understanding of how the transformations happens.
    While most shows use stock footage to save cost and increase the run time, I don't mind as long as it doesn't ruin the pacing or take up the majority of the film. Transformations also indicate the change in situation so how its executed should be important.

  • @jamesaditya5254
    @jamesaditya5254 12 дней назад

    I think the incorporation of henshin jingles and poses are mostly important for children to mimic and play pretend. Imagine playing pretend as Goranger and your henshin sequence is a whole spin. With all due respect for that series, the play experience itself would probably suck. Having a tagline and pose/motions attached to the henshin means kids can relate to them without going the extra mile of buying the toys.
    A bit of a tangent, because I'm well aware the point of the video is how long it takes for us the viewers to experience the henshin, and not the actual in-universe length itself (which usually prompts the "why don't the enemies just attack them mid-sequence" argument). It's not uncommon in the later parts of a series that henshin sequences get shortened to make time for plot relevant content, but Metal Heroes actually tried to normalize the shortened henshin as it happens too fast for the human eyes to comprehend. So a full minute henshin for the audience takes only half a second in-universe. I get that establishing this every series might be repetitive, while sounding kinda lame by the 3rd consecutive series, just wish it gets more recognition as a counterargument. The other side of it is henshin gimmicks that act as a defensive component mid-sequence. I'm sure there's plenty more but I could only recall Kamen Rider Gaim and Ghost off the top of my head.

  • @genericweeb7300
    @genericweeb7300 13 дней назад +2

    Depends on how good it looks.
    My personal favourite "long" henshin comes from Ultraman Orb.
    In fact, these days most of them comes from Ultraman. I dare say I even have a soft spot for Zero Beyond's stupidly long sequence.
    On the other hand, couldn't stand Kamen Rider stuff - most particularly because of their god-awful sound design.
    It gets even worse during group transformations when the "bangs", "booms", jingles, and shouting voices from the belt/gadget clash together into a horrendous cacophony.

    • @VictorCaboclo
      @VictorCaboclo 11 дней назад

      Funny that I have the exact opposite opinion to yours.
      I adore Kamen Rider Henshins for how absurd they are, especially when they all transform together, yes it is extremely chaotic and sometimes it can be a bit much, but to me that clash of audio cues and anoucenmets truly shows just how unique each rider really is from each other.

The one I really dislike are Saber's long ass wonder ridebook synopsis narration and Ultraman Arc's cube thing (shit looks cool but the gimmick kinda seem pointless as oppose to Zyuohger's).

    I think tokusatsu is just following the rule of cool since the beginning, everything is a gimmick and it changes on each generations standards. I stand by this, what put me off with the recent tokus around the middle of the heisei gen, they implementation of anime acting by real people.
