Lately, I've been skipping through all the booktubers posts that I subscribe to just to see which books they're talking about. I haven't listened to a post the whole way through in months. But I listened to every word of this one. Lexi, you were the first booktuber I found when I discovered that booktube was a thing and binged all your videos right away. This video reminded me why I fell in love with you and the whole concept of booktube. Love your style so, so much!!!
Ohhhh yayyyy!! The best book I read this autumn was Starling House by Alix E. Harrow. This book is one of my homes now. And I so badly want a life time subscription of this author's writing!! 🍁 🍂 Hope you are excited for winter readings!!! ❄️
I too very much enjoyed Starling House. The author does an expert job in rooting you in the setting. And of course it was just a really beautiful story.
I don't love watching scary things, but the Haunting of Hill House show on Netflix is surprisingly one of my favorite series, I've even rewatched it! It's worth a try! So well done
Oh no! I totally forgot bought The Whisperwicks in the beginning of October when you recommend it, and a few other middle grades, (I know I bought another one you mentioned but I can't remember which one atm) but, I then got into book after book and completely forgot about them. But I'm so glad you talked about it in this video and seeing as you loved it so much, I have to get it out and put it in my "read soon" TBR stack. Don't Let The Forrest In, is next on my list too. I have also had a pretty great autumnal reading season so far, it really is the Best time for being cozy and reading lots of good books! Thank you for the great video! ❤
I also bought The Whisperwisks this season and it's sitting on my TBR shelf right now. I thought it sounded good and I read the first chapter, but after hearing Lexi talk about it I'm even more excited to read it 🥰
You said if you like Jandy Nelson you might like don’t let the forest in and you were right!!! I really liked it, I just finished it and I’m going to reread it immediately
I also read The hunting of Hill House and it was great. A 4 star 🌟🌟🌟🌟 I am just reading The throne of glass series right now and I am loving it ❤ Thank you for another great video 🍁🍂
Great Video Lexi and my favorite read of the fall is definitely without a doubt A River Enchanted It Was So Good & Now I’m on the sequel and I’m thinking that it’s going to be another 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖 Have a Wonderful Day and Happy Reading Lexi 📖😊
I read The Whisperwicks based on your recommendation and it may be one of my top three books of the year! It was INCREDIBLE and I can’t recommend it enough. 🍂🍁
I loved graveyard shift but the ending was kind of dull to me, I felt that when it picked up and got really freaky and interesting, that's when it ended but overall I loved it!
I read so many good books this season. Some of my favorites were A River Enchanted and A Fire Endless, the Spellshop and Dracula. It was so interesting to hear your thoughts on Carmilla and Dracula because for me, it was exactly the opposite. I also read a few booky by TJ Klune which all were 5 stars for me. Last month, I read my favorite Middle Grade this year, which was the Night Tourist
I do NOT like anything vampire-related, but roommate loves it. I purchased Carmilla and An Education in Malice after you talked about them. My roomie can thank you for her upcoming Christmas gifts.
Don’t let the forest in is my most anticipated read and now I’m even more excited!! I’m waiting for our local bookstore to call me once my copy’s already available.
This year's autumn favourites: A Sorceress Comes to Call & A House with Good Bones (T. Kingfisher), When the Crow's Away (Auralee Wallace, 2nd part in a series, rhe 1st one is more autumnal) and Slade House (David Mitchell).
A five-star book I read this autumn was The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman. I don't think I've ever cried so much over a book in my life. Such a beautiful story of family and love. Some other books really that really stuck with me this season were The Clackity by Lora Senf (the horror reminded me of Coraline and I appreciated the message on love and grief), Starling House by Alix E. Harrow (reminded me of Howl's Moving Castle if it was set in Kentucky), and A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid (immaculate November vibes and interesting characters).
I had a great autumn reading season too, lots of four and five stars. The one that surprised me the most by being a five star however was Lolly Willowes by Sylvia Townsend Warner. I think the audience who will really "get" this book is perhaps limited, but I was so glad to have discovered it.
My favorite 5 star book that I read this autumn was My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix. This became one of my favorites books of all time. Loved it and was terrified by it so much! Lol I looked up and listened to the 80's song that was attracted to every chapter...so much fun!🍂
🍂🍁 I just finished reading “Never Lie” by Frieda McFadden and is definitely a 5 star. I kept me on my toes, I couldn’t put it down. It’s suspenseful. Definitely recommend it
luckyy I'm so glad to hear you've had a great reading season!! it's kinda interesting to think about how different it is to watch scary things and read scary things :D i used to think nothing could get scarier than watching a horror movie until i read my first scary book and it chilled me to the bones, way worse than any movie xD
I can’t wait to read Don’t Let the Forest in and An Education in Malice!! I have them on hold at my library 😊 my fav books this season have been The Library of Shadows, and Drizzle, Dreams and Lovestruck Things ❤
You should read Hungerstone by Kat Dunn when it comes out next year. It's also a Carmilla retelling but it's Horror. I read an ARC and really enjoyed it and I'm interested in your opinion!
I love this video 🥰 my favorite books (both five stars) from this autumn were The Nightmare Before Kissmas by Sarah Raasch (actually so SO good despite the silly sounding title. It's actually really deep... And also hilarious, and spicy, and heartwarming 😭 I have a book hangover from it) and The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin ❤️
Hi, I’m enjoying watching your video with a nice hot chocolate! These cozy books sound fantastic! I have seen clips of One Tree Hill, I’m going to give it a watch! It would be awesome to connect with you and chat about different books and TV Series. You are interesting and your channel is amazing!
Throne of secrets by Kerri Maniscalco. I can’t explain how homesick I feel when I’m not read the Kingdom of the wicked or prince of sin series. They’re not mind blowing but I love the world and characters
A Five Star read for me was A Mulitude of Madness by Mara Rutherford. It was a reallly good, scary fun type book and I really enjoyed myself so much. 🍂
Recommend The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova! It’s kind of partly a Dracula retelling / exists within the Dracula universe. Major atmosphere! I’ve read it 4 times (and it’s pretty long).
I finished reading In Darkling Wood by Emma Carroll and I loved it. It's set in present time in November and in the past of November 1918, the end of World War I. I found it cosy as well 🍁🍂
If you liked _How to Become a Dark Lord and Die Trying_ , try _Long Live Evil_ . Similar premise, very different execution, much more of a for-the-women vibes, and very good. :D
🍁🍂 I think my favorite reads of autumn have been "A Head Full of Ghosts" by Paul Tremblay and "Such Sharp Teeth" by Rachel Harrison. I also reread "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving which was a fun time and brought me back to my childhood a little bit.
Have you read' The Historian' by Elizabeth Kostova? Very good. Set in contemporary times, but is a Gothic telling of a search for Dracula and involves a a very special book. 600 pages
🍁🍂I read a handful of great reads this Autumn, but my favorites were At Home in Stars Hollow, The Woman in White, The Magicians, Once and Future Witches, The Secrets of Hartwood Hall, Of Blood and Fire, The Omen, John Adams, My Death, The Framley Parsonage, America is in the Heart, and Book of Lost Things.
I would love it if you read Dracul by J.D. Barker. It's one of my favorite books of all time. It makes you feel as if you are reading an autobiography of Bram Stoker, but it's fantastical.
I am halfway through An Academy for Liars. Need help! I’m considering a DNF bc it’s been mostly drug induced evil so far, (as more of a Spellshop girl this just isn’t my jam, get my pun 😆) do I keep going? Will it redeem itself?
Girl, if you knew the amount of retellings and fanfics about Carmilla and Laura out there lmao, they definitely had a thing and people really ship them 💅🏻
I think my favorite book read lately is Where the Dark stands still. It was a five star, I would have given more if possible. Also a five star was a gay romance, Out of the Shadows by K. C. Wells.
Lately, I've been skipping through all the booktubers posts that I subscribe to just to see which books they're talking about. I haven't listened to a post the whole way through in months. I too very much enjoyed Starling House. The author does an expert job in rooting you in the setting. And of course it was just a really beautiful story.
@@blueminto7 Yesss very muchh she does 😍

You must read "A December to Remember" by Jenny Bayliss. It's incredibly heartwarming, hopeful, and cozy!
I don't love watching scary things, but the Haunting of Hill House show on Netflix is surprisingly one of my favorite series, I've even rewatched it! It's worth a try! So well done
"Love is the very highest form of courage" wow, what a beauty!! 🍁
Oh no! I totally forgot bought The Whisperwicks in the beginning of October when you recommend it, and a few other middle grades, (I know I bought another one you mentioned but I can't remember which one atm) but, I then got into book after book and completely forgot about them. I agree with you, I REALLY LOVE DON'T LET THE FOREST IN😭💗It's one of my all time faves🍂
i read the whisperwicks because of you! it's my fave read of the year so far 🍂
There was a youtube series about a modern day Carmilla. It's old at this point but I know that it was beloved when it was airing.
I adore your content. Thanks for all the amazing recommendations! 😍🥰✨✨
Loved to hear your take on these books. I think I need to read Carmilla and the Haunting of Hill House. 🍁🍂📔
Hmmm…a five star book I’ve read through the autumn season was The Pumpkin Spice Café! I am obsessed with the Dream Harbor series now 🍁🍂
SAME!!!! 😂
I WILL READ 📚 DREAMS GARBOUR SERIES IN DECEMBER
Oh, I have loved the Thistlegrove Witches series! It was so good!!
You said if you like Jandy Nelson you might like don’t let the forest in and you were right!!! I really liked it, I just finished it and I’m going to reread it immediately
I picked up Don’t let the Forest In because you had said you read it several times right after you got it - I am loving it so far!
The Haunting (1999 movie) is much closer to the book than the show. It’s pretty creepy but def one of my faves ❤
I also picked up don’t let the forest in at your recommendation. I’m halfway through and really liking it so far! Thanks! 🍁🍂
10 star read. . . All Quiet on the Western Front.
I cried like a baby
I also read The hunting of Hill House and it was great. A 4 star 🌟🌟🌟🌟 I am just reading The throne of glass series right now and I am loving it ❤

my favourite autumn books : the graveyard book, Arabian nights and days by Mahfouz
Love the book passion and videos. Keep it up!
I loved graveyard shift but the ending was kind of dull to me, I felt that when it picked up and got really freaky and interesting, that's when it ended but overall I loved it!
Loved the video!! Looking forward to reading with you and Foxenwood in the new year. 🍂 🦊
omg look at that Dracula edition !🤩
I read so many good books this season. Some of my favorites were A River Enchanted and A Fire Endless, the Spellshop and Dracula. It was so interesting to hear your thoughts on Carmilla and Dracula because for me, it was exactly the opposite.

I agree with all your 5 ⭐️ reads 🍂🍂
My recent favorite book is Swordcrossed by Freya Marske. I haven't had many five-star reads this year, so thank you for this huge list of recs! 🍁🍂
I had a great autumn reading season too, lots of four and five stars. The one that surprised me the most by being a five star however was Lolly Willowes by Sylvia Townsend Warner. I think the audience who will really "get" this book is perhaps limited, but I was so glad to have discovered it.
Lolly Willowes is one of my favorite books ever. So brilliant!
I read You, Again by Katie Goldbeck and I absolutely loved it! 5🌟 🍁🍂
MBFE - scares me whenever I think about it - love Grady Hendrix.
I had it as an audio but the spoken words chilled me so I read it instead - ( silly when I think how I rushed to stop Libby while it was playing lol)

Did you read Dracula or Carmilla first? Did you have a recommendation for which order to do?
Throne of secrets by Kerri Maniscalco. I can’t explain how homesick I feel when I’m not read the Kingdom of the wicked or prince of sin series. They’re not mind blowing but I love the world and characters

🍁 🍂 ✨
🍂 I think my fav book of the autumn was Dracul by Dacre Stoker and J.D. Barker. It's a prequel to Dracula and it was so so good!!
For those who DO want to read more on JFK’s assassination. I highly, highly recommend Five Days in November by Clint Hill.

🍁nice to see you again
Recommend The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova! It’s kind of partly a Dracula retelling / exists within the Dracula universe. Major atmosphere! I’ve read it 4 times (and it’s pretty long).

Ya know. My biggest hangup with the Whisperwicks was the fact his name is BENJAMIAH 😂 the entire audiobook felt like I was being lied to
Girl, if you knew the amount of retellings and fanfics about Carmilla and Laura out there lmao, they definitely had a thing and people really ship them 💅🏻
I think my favorite book read lately is Where the Dark stands still. It was a five star, I would have given more if possible. Also a five star was a gay romance, Out of the Shadows by K. C. Wells.
