Exactly right. We have rescued dogs for 40 years, including from abroad. The trick to success is to let them "come round" in their own time.
After about 4 - 6 months, their true character ( which you can watch as it emerges) comes out
    It's lovely to see this

Really helpful advice as I prepare for my rescue dog to arrive from Greece! Thank you.

Thankyou this was amazing. If the dog is dirty and smelly, how long should we wait to give them a bath?

Thanks Jo this is really helpful - we adopt our "Greekie" soon - would you recommend putting a collar on pup as soon as they are in your car after you've picked them up? She'll have a slip lead on when she is handed to us.

Sarah Armstrong so long as you have a slip lead on her that’s fine then you can either pop a collar on then or when you get home 😊

Very helpful vid, thank you for sharing...I've also adopted a dog from abroad(it's only been a week...I haven't yet put a collar on her or a harness because she doesn't yet let me touch her(she cowers and/or runs away)...should I try to put the collar on her at least? Please help🙏

This is a subject that highly interests me as I rescued a highly reactive dog ion July 2021.. Unfortunately, I could not hear you as the sounds was too light for me.
