I was looking for something like this for a sword i was modeling from a reference which had a gem in the middle of its hilt/guard and i tried making it from the guard faces and i was having this flower thingy around the hole i made and it now looks decent but i dont know if its error free or not.... Anyways thank you for making this.
Shocked to see you have not uploaded anything after this. You make good tutorial.
Doing tutorials on niche probleme like these would have been gr8.
Anyways have a good day man!!!

Thank you! I totally forgot about this video actually, and I've been thinking about trying to make some tutorial videos properly soon. But I don't use Maya anymore, they would be Houdini tutorials instead. Also, I'm sure your topology is fine around the hole if you followed this :)

Do it man, Houdini or Maya, doesnt matter....your solutions and explainations to solving a problem does and i see you are good at it so i think you should get back to it whenever you got time 😄

Why it doesn't change when i merge the model?
It's still same and can't make it perfect/smooth circle

Assuming you followed everything up to that point, there might be a chance that the ends of each piece are closed off? I haven't used Maya in over a year but deleting history is also something that I know often helps.
