Hi Ryan… I’m a meteorologist who’s been in the business for many years. I had a former viewer who moved to the Midwest and told me about your channel. Just want to say you are rockin it! Lake snows are the easiest of all weather phenomena to predict. All you need is cold air over water. November and December, in the Great Lakes, is when this combination occurs most frequently. Best tool is a 15c (27f) temp contrast from the water to the air temps at 850 millibars. Kid stuff.

Greatly appreciate the videos Ryan. It means alot. With that rain hitting NY on the 25th (maybe) how will that combine with the snow that has fallen now?

I would love to live up north, have a off grid homestead but I am in Texas right now...A neighbor told me everyone has to shovel the walk, and also if you don't get the snow off the roof, it will cave down and could be fatal...He told me they charge a high dollar amount fine for people if they don't get out there and shovel their walks...He is from Illinois and told me he will never go back; he is 80 years old now and sold everything and moved to Texas...I have changed mind about going North..

The storm in 2014(?) did the same thing. Was a wall of snow that just stopped and dumped 7 feet in south Buffalo.

Yup, live in the PA snowbelt. Needless to say it's interesting for sure. We all know the drill to stay alive. Five foot snow storm does suck. Thunder snow is pretty cool.

When you get thunder and lightning during a snowstorm you are going to wind up with 2 feet or more snow!!!!! I lived through the snowstorm of December 1st 1974 and the lightening flashed at 6 o"clock on Sunday evening and electric was out until the next Sunday when it came back on, that's the only time I seen PennDot use SNOWBLOWERS to open the roads..... I live in the Laurel Highlands of Fayette County Pennsylvania

I live in western NY and woke up to thunder snow ! It was sooo awesome!!! As someone who loves snow (you have to when living here) it made my morning! My house had 6-7 inches Thursday morning but my work had a dusting. That’s how insane these snow bands are!!
