I would love it if the “meat arrow” ends up just being a way to play fetch with the dogs in this game.
I'd imagine a practical use would be luring out moblins/bokoblins like you would have with just arrow impact sounds in BOTW

Two things here. She did say, as you correctly spotted, “Breath of the Wild 2” which I would argue is the absolute worst name to use, with “Tears of the Kingdom” being a close second.
Also funny story about her saying “Breath of 2 Wilds”. Not really being able to focus too much, I didn’t remember all the names she used so I actually took a bet with a friend of mine who kept calling it “Breath of 2 Wild”… claiming she doesn’t actually say it in the video. And, well, while I could’ve won on technicality here, she merely used a plural and we agreed that I would be taking the L there.
The reason it’s funny and why he was using that name in the first place for us to even make bets about this… is because we’re French and the number 2 in French also coincidentally just so happens to be pronounced very similarly to how most French people (who are bad at English) mispronounce the word “the”. Very nerdy and specific and no story anyone would realistically care or want to know about but one I still felt like sharing, just cuz funny haha made me laugh that I lost at my own game.
Thanks Gamerchamp for making me lose a zero-euro bet, being awesome and never letting us down with the laughs and hype management! (even when you use the crappy sequel name some kids started believing would be the actual title)
Last random thought, the game is still technically classified and legally named by RUclips’s detection algorithm as “The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”, as per their database. To this day. They never changed it. At least in the French version/localization of RUclips. And I guess that was indeed the official proper name to use prior to title reveal… but no one bothered to the point where the “2” made its way to everyone’s vocabulary, especially those believing the game would be coming out any time before 2022. I should probably stop talking and throw my salt down the toilet!
Why is this comment and its reply both so long? Also the crying wilds XD

Going Up is just a really nice quality of life rune.
Playing with verticality is super fun in any game, but usually the going down part is cool and fast, and going up is slow and tedious. So it being fast here is cool. Lets you do more going down.
Also I bet there will be hidden caves and stuff you can only reach with that, which is going to be cool like once or twice at least.
It’s definitely another strong implication that there will be expansive cave systems because it allows the player to leave whenever they want from most places in the cave instead of a few set entrances and exits.
@@joshleblanc9803 escape rope from Pokémon
For the 0 people who watched this for the scribblenauts tips:
Rope and something that let's you fly are definitely in the top 3 of useful items, but number one is the fishing rod. If I remember correctly it was kind of glitchy in the first game and let you hook things through walls and sometimes even glitch yourself through the wall, skipping large parts of many of the puzzles.
My personal favorite "rope + something that flies" was was a laser shark with a jetpack. The right balance of ease of completing the objective with the occasional hilarity of "oh shit, the shark shot the hostage"
The real pro strategy is fridge and handcuffs, at least for the “reach the starite” levels. Attach the handcuffs to the starite, put the handcuffs in the fridge, then bring the fridge to you.
Actually flying remote controlled car let me cheese everything, it was great.
I know ultrahand will have to have a limit of how many items can fuse to the same structure, but if it didn't:
Breath of the 2, Katamari Damacy
I’m sure the glitch hunters will find some way to make giant structures the same way they figured out how to mess with the minecarts in insane ways.

I remember in Breath of the First you could stasis enemies, so what if we're allowed to use recall on the enemies themselves?
Or...what if we can recall Link and turn him into Tracer?
He's already tracer.
Sorry
What about Bastion
I'm just impressed by that weird stunt Aonuma did at 1:47 in the gameplay video. It looked like some new trick that lets you expend stamina to ascend walls
What trick?
@@senzasmentalissues474 You can't get that much height in Botw and still have that much stamina
@@kuroser353 eating stamina food?
@@Trogloglation NGL I forgot that was a thing 💀
@@senzasmentalissues474 I... don't know how else to describe it. He was scaling a wall without a ladder present
The way I'm looking at it isn't that it's trying to recapture BotW's goals. It's using your expectations of the same map in an interesting way. You're not supposed to explore it again and think "wow this is all entirely new to me!" It's going to play with what you already know and expect. The mechanics presented seem to support the idea that you can travel easier where the world is less about the world itself and more the interactions you can have with it. And yeah, seeing what's new and old, and how the mechanics recontextualize the map. You won't see and you won't even explore it in the same way
I also believe the ascend ability is going to have more to it than we thought. We've seen caves with the like-like miniboss before and a new cave in the faron region. Ascend will be 1: extremely useful for gaining elevation especially in areas like faron where it rains all the time. 2: with the caves we've seen and the ascend ability interacting with that, I foresee a lot of the new map is actually underground, natural structures that don't have a teleport out, use the ascend to go from the depths straight to the surface
Not as interesting on its own. But the inclusion of the ability has very strong implications. The transition animation through the cliff would be a perfect cover for asset loading
Oh and uh, just one more thing: the showcase of falling I think is really just as simple as showing the air to ground transition is seamless. The last time this was a thing was skyward sword after all. "It feels so good!"
@@nikkothegoblin god everyone wants caves to be in the game so bad. It’s almost like a conspiracy theory at this point

To be fair a lot of the things about Recall also apply to Stasis. Unless you're in a shrine, or a speedrunner, what'cha gonna do with it? Other than freezing an enemy for 0.8 seconds
It would make sense that every weapon-object or weapon-weapon combination is going to do good in some way. Maybe not exactly the perfect thing you might need at a given point in time, but definitely a buff, like you said. I like to think of it like cooking in BotW, you couldn’t really mess up a meal except for some super minor edge cases where it’s pretty clear you’ve messed up.
But there used to be a mountain with a rather terrible cook on top. I hope there won’t be a floating isle with a lot of slime and some dude who doesn’t know how to use it.
Well, unlike cooking I don’t think most people have magical hand powers that let them create speedboats from logs
I hope that putting a rock on a sword makes it weaker because you're removing the blade from it
@@purpleisdebeste : Perhaps. However, I’d bet it’s GOING to buff some other stat, even a hidden one if this game doesn’t improve transparency with visualizing stats like weapon durability.
Or if I’m wrong I’d argue it’s a mistake because I really do think mixing everything you find together to try all sorts of possible weapon combinations really would make for a true successor to cooking.
EDIT: With the game now out we know what rocks improve for a sword: mining efficiency! They didn’t insist much on the caves/underworld aspects prior to release.
It’s just too bad that the literal *miner* set doesn’t allow for better mining and it’s also sad that there really just are two major types of fuses (sharps and blunts).
@@purpleisdebeste It might drop damage, but it'd drastically increase durability.
If you love seeing maps change, while its technically in the same game, Rain World's different campaigns/characters happen at different points along a time line and maps that have different names can sometimes be quite closely related where you can see what became what.
It's also hard, if you're bad at games. :3
I’m so happy for Ultrahand. I really wanted to use Octorock Balloons to turn a raft into an airship in BOTW, and was sad that I couldn’t.
I think maybe recall is a way to save your constructs made with megahand from completely going wrong. If your flying machine takes off without you on it or like you want to make some changes you can recall it instead of having it fly off in the distance away from the site you were building it on.
Just use recall to unexplode your hands
The Rewind ability could be useful when testing out vehicles made with Ultrahand.
Only a few minutes in but your voice sounds very good, Gamechamp. Very nice :)
Sorry about the hands explody, hope they feel better soon!
I think the one advantage of Ascend is that it seems tailormade to address the rain problem BOTW has. Every other annoyance in that game surrounding exploration can be mitigated with abilities you have *except* for rain.
You can't skip it (campfires can't be made in rain), it cripples your ability to climb and generally just exists to slow you down and be annoying.
It's nice to see other, less painful content! Good recovery !
This most certainly is not what I was expecting to see today, but it's more than welcome. Always fun to hear your thoughts on stuff.
35:00 Just, unironically, did GameChamp not know about this before-hand? They were quite open about the idea that this game re-used the map from BOTW. I think people aren't reacting, because they not only expected this, but would have been angry if this wasn't the case.
“You can’t explore your house a second time “
House of leaves “ I’m about to end this man’s career”
This was delightful. Hope your hands are feeling better soon. I enjoyed hearing you talk about Zelda 2 crying and breathing uncontrollably
So, I'm a person who was excited at the falling. I think it's really cool that the islands are that high up while also being part of the main world map. The same way I love when I can see a place I've been but it's really far away in a non-up direction and go "wow that place that I was really is right over there" I also like that but up. When that is up it is very cool as well. Scale and distance is onea those things that just immediately sells me on a video game.
I am excited to see Eventide Island again and what they've done with it this time
The Grill Off with Ultra Hand to Tears of the Kingdom pipeline is so real.
The way you talk when you don't have a script is exceedingly charming
Seeing Gamerchamp getting excited over tears of the wild kindom's breath is just so heartwarming and relatable. This may be one of my favorite videos i've watched in a long time
I can't believe you improvised all those names for Breathing and Balling Again.
“I question how useful Recall will actually be.”
Little did we know, the amount of useful was very.
Something kinda cool I've heard about Ascend that may or may not even be a thing depending on if there are caves in this game is that it can be used to return to the surface from underground and maybe even let you access underground pockets that are otherwise completely sealed off from the rest of the world.
Well everyone keeps reminding us… this was originally supposed to be a DLC.
I think fuse and ultrahand could be sort of like the cube and sphere remote bombs, unlocked at the same time and very similar conceptually, but slightly different use cases. Obviously they aren't as similar as the bombs, but they could be lumped together, which would leave room for a 4th arm ability
I’m still hoping that the Rewind ability will have so many purposes we’ll discover and go “How about that?!”
"A big guy throws a tree at you and you reverse it to be like, ha, you hit yourself, but that's obvious."
Was...was thay obvious though? O.o Don't sell yourself short cause that definitely wasn't anything that popped into my head immediately, haha.
to be fair zelda wild breaths was lots of moving latterally and anguishing over trying to move up, so having a go up button in zelda sad kingdom is kinda mind blowing to some people
I think a straightforward utility isn't the same as limited utility. Like I agree that ascend isn't glamorous, but thats because its key foundation of the kit. Like I'm not surprised that you don't find it exciting, but its so obviously going to be a bigger go to than rewind. Like crossing a body of water with cryonis was more tedious than finding an area to glide from. Its not just that it was incredibly situational, it was bad to use compared to other options. Asend is different... I mean its just jumping, but thats the point, it works as a surefire mechanic. There is no ceiling, come up with a solution to get up there, but if its just a small climb, find somewhere to swim through. When theres no puzzle to climbing, its just walking but slower and you can fail, if you have more than enough stamina to climb then its just tedious, like fighting grunts in an RPG after you already beat the level. I'm not sure if it go up to a ceiling 2000 ft above you, or even upgrade to that, I'm pretty sure the ceiling has to be atleast 10 feet above you. Its climbing 2.0, and its conditional restriction in shrines is no different. I can even envision puzzle where you have to line up blocks to form a path that you can swim all the way up through. (also fuck, how can they have Link swim through land and not have underwater segments? Nintendo, if there isn't playable Zelda, and/or a Zora hot girl summer dungeon I'm going to riot)
All that being said... I can't help but wonder if rewind can be used in that totally unscripted moment where Aonuma got launched into the ether, like if you just fuck up your judgement on a glide and you just slowly fall to your shame, that you can undo your shame and act like you never tied to glide to that place you couldn't glide too. Like I think the thing you're missing with everyone excited about up and down, is that games have... gravity. Like its a limiting factor, and there are entire genres of games made about fighting gravity to the bitter end with tools, and when tools get too powerful thats a bad, but when they're really restrictive thats a bummer. So like, Shrines ignore gravity with an elevator and a loading screen, but the islands don't, everything about them commands the player to battle gravity constantly, so falling is a bad, but the ability to just fall all the way is a good, because it implies that navigating them is going to be like climbing a mountain, but with less boring climbing or awkward shambling.
Ultimately I think this game will be more about playing with the environment as opposed to discovering it. I know people where questioning the gmod constructs and being like "are we just going to drive past everything" and the answer is... sort of. Like its rehashing the map because the core focus of the game is fundamentally different. And seeing how (as I was hoping/deduced) Ultrahand can make more than just vehicles, I imagine that interacting with NPCs and villages my be a hell of a lot more hands on. We could have to rebuild the barricade leading to Hatteno, built camps for NPCs, create a motorized cart to deliver supplies, the sky ISN'T even the limit at this point.
Because I can't fit it anywhere, I think the rocks might hint at what this games "bloodmoon" reset mechanic will be. Because obviously shits going to fall, but like are they going to persist on the ground after the first time, do they reset when you leave and just fall again when you get in range. I think that there'll be a time reset mechanic like the blood moon, where some stuff in the world reverts back, perhaps the entirety of the sky islands are stuck in a time loop, maybe they're crashing down and Zelda/Hylia froze them in time but you have to go on a journey to fix it permanently. Just a thought.
Edit: also if there are caves, then Ascend will not only be usefull anywhere, but imagine if leaving a cave is the exact opposite of falling off the island. Like at if at any point exploring a cave, you can pop ascend, and not only immediately return to the surface, but get a visceral immediate understanding of that cave networks relation to the world, like "holy fuck I how did I get here, this went under that?"
if anything i am elated at the details that were shown in the presentation. but i still have two questions: one what is the name of that creepy ass arm that's bonded onto link that allows him to do all of these crazy reality bending shenanigans and two WHO is the decrepit corpse that the hand was initially shoved into that we saw in the first few trailers. side note just wanted to ask what the next vg myths is? probably won't be rockman damageless or the next ratchet and clank wrench only.
The corpse guy was Matt Mercer, voiced by Gannondorf.

“There is no common sense in Hyrule”
Ultrahand just lets you play Bad Piggies in Zelda and I sincerely hope at least one person understands what I mean.
I think recall will probably work well with the vehicle mechanic. Like if you accidentally drive your car or boat off a cliff, you can just press the undo button to fix it. Ascend meanwhile will be for escaping all the massive undergound caves that are definitely in this game even though we haven't seen any of them yet
a cool potentially for the up ability was hidden sealed off caves inside mountain, shrines maybe get into locked rooms in houses

Fuse and ultrahand are a bit similiar but the main difference is fuse is probably just 1 to 1 combining (I can't imagine fused items can be refused, that would be ridiculously complicated to program) and ultrahand is fusing a bunch of stuff that can be unfused and can't be held.
Both are pretty neat!
Ascend seems pretty boring to me too, but I could see it becoming kinda like a limited revali's gale?
Like it gets an upgrade where you can pop up and through thin roofs to get a big height boost to glide from or something?
Hey thanks for the new video, I fall asleep to your videos on my work nights since they're a good length and your voice is very calming. Cheers
You can really hear the painkillers in her voice this entire video with these unhinged rants
An invincible dash upgrade to the ascend ability would make it pretty useful in combat.
I also like that up on the touchpad had a food icon, that suggests that you actually have to go through an eating animation instead of pausing and cramming 46 apples down your pie hole mid lynel fight
If you can rewind anything (including enemies) there will be a ton of possibilities, will really depend on how much freedom they give you (which based on BOTW will be a ton)
Seems like rewinding enemys would be a good upgrade like time freezing the enemies was in botw
The potential of combining runes is cool. You can use ultra hand to lift an object into the air, put it back on the ground, and use recall. Or if you can't stand on the object very well, use recall to keep it in the air and use ascend to get on top of it.

Even if you can't fuse materials to weapons like you do with arrows, you can always drop the material on the ground and fuse it that way!
i found a silly way to use rewind in early game where you pick up a platform with ultrahand and drop it and them get on and rewind. and you can get a fun lil boost upwards

Ascend requires that the sealing be somewhat flat and for there to be space to exit; that's all the parameters
How did Gamechamp end up Broke of the Hands, exactly?
As soon as you mentioned scribblenauts I immediately just thought of pterodactyl. I did the same as soon as I realised you could make dinosaurs. Im sure there will be a 'best' fusion option, but i imagine it would be the new guardian core equivalent or something, so running out of them is always a risk thus you dont want to use the best option and instead find your close-enough alternative
Honestly, just listening to Gamechamp ramble about Zelda for an hour was unironically a great way to spend the time.
The end of the video really startled me, because I am actively playing Turnabout Samurai right now and I thought it was coming from the game.
I hope Ascend isn’t bad and you can do stuff like throw a big rock then freeze it mid air and then instant Ascend up to the frozen flying rock.
Recall changes the objects flow of time, so i don’t know about US recalling to it
@@mistressofdreams6031 oops I meant ascend.
@@travisnakahira7320 they said ceiling buuut never specified what is a ceiling, hmmmm
Stasis is gone, as far as we know, so there's no more freezing stuff in mid-air.
Besides, I am willing to bet a lot of money that Ascend will only work on static geometry, and if caves are in the game, you probably won't be able to pass through the ceilings of them.
Can you beat totk without any of the 4 abilities?
Wish you the best recovery for your hands.
I'm under the impression that if Ascend gets an upgrade it's just gonna be Revali's Gale, because why wouldn't they? A big jump on like a 30 second cooldown or something would justify go up as a move
If this game has extensive caves and underwater stuff and such, Ascend is pretty useful already
Ik this is an old video. But the recall ability is quite useful. My ultra hand can cause a platform to cross a gap. Then I bring it back. Put recall on it and ride it over
The one thing interesting about rewind is that it poses the question, can you beat breath of wild zelda two tears backwards.
If you fuze arrow with arrow will it do multi shot arrow or long double arrow
6:40 I get you on rewind, it's definitely the most conventional of the new abilities... but Zelda is known for using time travel in interesting ways. The timeshift stones from Skyward Sword for example. Maybe we can use the ability to rewind some of the ruins in the game and explore what they were like before the calamity? Maybe we can rewind rusted weapons to fix them? Maybe we can rewind cave-ins to make new areas accessible in places like beneath Hyrule Castle? Maybe I can rewind my horse from death so I don't have to get scolded by an angry horse god??? It definitely has the possibility of just being "stasis 2" but I think there's some fun to be had.
The pain meds are stronger than I though gamerchamp

Dang it all, Gamechamp! We have the same ringtone, so the end of the video TRICKED ME
I think ascend is gonna be like the escape rope for the cave systems to get back to the surface without fast travel y’know
I maxed out most materials through pure traditional gathering and hoarding in BotW, glad there’s gonna be more use for the random materials
I like how they slapped trailmakers into my breath of the 2: sad water
Miss gamechamp: do you plan on doing challenge runs of this game?
I mean, I feel like ascend is gonna be more helpful than rewind.
Rewind feels like cryonis but more, gonna be almost exclusively useful for the things they specifically want it to be used for, and maybe a weird physics exploit here or there. Ascend means that any cliff with a cave in it or a ledge over a point on the ground you can use ascend on to skip a good bit of climbing. Seems more helpful to me at least.
This did not age well
Yeah but have you considered using recall on your exploded hands? They didn’t show that in the trailer
I agree with the thing of discovering reversing the fallen rock to make it fly, but Im also not sure it would be a discovery. Assuming thats the main way to reach sky islands, there must be some shrine when you get the ability that says 'use this ability on this suspicious floor block and whoah it was actually in the sky' and then right outside the shrine is a suspiciously blocky rock. Maybe that will still have some discovery factor, but to me it seems too obscure to be discovered with no hints, but having hints makes it obvious and it loses the discovery aspect already.
Am i making any sense? Who knows
i instantly realised the ultra hand reference, i am legend
are you training your voice! it’s sounding really nice!
