Dude I LOVE this review. I've had fantastic success with the CCI segmented (quiet, mini mag, and supervelocity.) They work GREAT for dispatching farm pests. Drops little stuff quicker than any other 22lr I've tried. But because they don't retain a solid base, you are left with nothing to get the deep penetration needed for "possum +" This is the best of both worlds. A double tap gives you 2 exit wounds and EIGHT internal wounds. Imagine 4 or 5 rounds of this. If I can find some of this i'm stocking up to keep the farm guns loaded. Never know when your farm gun might get repurposed into a predator or self defense role. Thanks Pat. This. Made. My. Day.
exactly my thoughts and experience with the CCI . this Winchester performed WAY better than i expected . i will probably still prefer the subsonic cci segmented for backyard duties (squirrel, rabbit and invasive bird species ) because it DOESN'T have the solid core . For out on the farm though this would definitely handle possum + much better .
That Vuduu is a sweet gun! Got some real nice groups with it. Great to see a review with the gel too. That little slug really penetrates well. Makes me think this would work well with the larger varmints like coyote and beaver.
I really like that round. It's amazing how in the last couple of year's people and companies are talking a responding about 22lr for self defense. More people around the world are killed by 22lr then any other round, that's because everyone has one. Sincerely Ruger Rich
Worked in a hospital for 6+ years and saw a few gangbangers die from .22's because surgeons couldn't find all the places inside they were bleeding from. Bled out internally after a few hours.
That's great. I love seeing these kind of experiments. I loaded up some slower pistol powder in .40 to run through my keltec Sub2000 and WOW it was packing a wallop!

My guess is they are running a faster burn powder in that case. Achieves about the same velocity average in a rifle, but in a short barrel it's probably reached peak pressure much sooner. Good stuff!
The typical heeled bullet on 22lr requires a crimp, but outside Aguila, I haven't noticed much difference between the tightness/depth of one brand to the next with rimfire.
I have been an ER nurse for 30 years. I have treated or been involved with hundreds of gunshots. It's my opinion those segments traveling in different directions in the body along with the deep penetration would be deadly. I would not have a problem defending myself with the silver tip.
This is not the first video that I have seen about this ammo. Autumn's Armory used some in a video. Anyway, definitely looks like it could be some interesting ammo for critters. I won't go so far as to say that I would use this specific ammo,or any 22 lr for personal defense. I suppose I could see 22 lr as a last resort or it's what a person has for personal defense. It can work. It just wouldn't be optimal.
Very nice shooting. Going to pick up some of these my next time out! Wanna get a tripod like yours too, be better than a shooting stick. Its sad too the number of people that can't like a "gun" video. Like they're going to get in trouble or something, or don't want Uncle Sam to know they like this stuff. That is amazing performance. I bought a couple bricks of cci segmented I will have to try to get some gel. But I will definitely buy some silver tip ammo
It's interesting that the Winchester shot left of the Lapua. Looks like spin drift but that segmented bullet SHOULD create more resistance and generate more spin drift. Maybe it is because of the lube ...Slipperier bullet would shoot straighter.
