Good, insightful comparison. Although I’ve been tempted to buy one over the years, I haven’t because I’m sure I would cut it to shreds 😂. I can see that it may be useful in many types of cuts however. I think you are right, there is no perfect solution to all cuts we make.
The GRR-RIPPER doesn’t appear to me to be a one and done push block. It does look like it would be a great choice for cutting that small stock as you said. Having the right tool for the job at hand is the most important factor. The GRR-RIPPER looks like a good addition to other push blocks for many cuts. I don’t own one of this style yet look forward to acquiring one or two soon. Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts.
They make an 1/8 leg for really small cuts. Also, when pushing long boards through, use two grippers and go hand over hand just like with a jointer.

I agree the gripper is very pricey but safe.. wish it was more budget friendly especially when it comes to safety.
