I have always,along with everyone,that the narrative you use makes the videos and you so personable. That's what gets people off the couch to immerse themselves in what you do so well.
That is a real cool lake but the terrain is tough to get around. I want to give nearby steelhead lake another shot. I talked to a kid that got a nice rainbow in there. I didn't even know that lake had rainbows.
Very nice place to fish, you know if you were there when the shade was still on the whole lake it would probably be non stop action - Brookies are beautiful fish - glad you got into some - thanks for another great adventure - catch you next time 👊🎣👍
It certainly would have been easier to sneak up on them. That's the disadvantage of day hiking. You miss the evening and very early morning hours to fish. I do it so much because I can fish different locations in a 36 hour period. It just takes a lot of hiking to do it!
Amari! I backpacked to that lake with my wife when we were just dating 20 years ago! We took the water taxi across Saddlebag Lake and did the loop trail. It was very difficult finding a flat place to pitch our tent on the shore of Shamrock lake since it was very rocky. Also, the trailhead is at 10,000 feet !! I believe Shamrock Lake sits at 11,000 feet so it’s crazy the altitude sickness that can start to creep into your body at that altitude. It’s very beautiful up there.
Right on. You are right about finding a spot to pitch a tent. I was looking around at the terrain and I wasn't seeing very many areas that looked comfortable for camping. It's kind of hard just to get around! It is some real cool scenery up there.
hah, I always think the little ones are just dumber and faster than the big fish, and some of those big ones have already been caught and released, they aren't falling for that trick again. haha. Love you commentary, you are awesome brother!
Once the bigger trout I saw knew I was there it was over for sight fishing. Real tough to sneak up without cover. If I knew the weather was going to go south that early and that fast, I probably would have just stayed here and waited out some of those larger fish by hitting the deeper water but I guessed wrong.

I'm not sure but I saw some that looked to be 10-12 inches. I fished Lake Helen a couple of years ago. I have a clip for it on my backcountry playlist.
Yes. That's in the works in my head! I have an external frame pack that, with some modifications, could make it fairly easy. Maybe I'll start next year when the snow clears. maybe sooner, who knows. I usually don't have my next destination hammered down until the day before I leave!
I scouted it out. I think I need a float tube for that place. I heard the Brookies aren't as prevalent these days and Lahontans are king there but I couldn't be sure. I think it was something about the hatchery where the brookies came from. That could have been crazy talk for all I know. I definitely heard about the big brookies you speak of.
Maybe. I'd have to watch the video. Not sure what I referenced. Meant the one nearby but I kind of ramble on off of the top of my head so what comes out comes out. I don't re-shoot stuff and don't always catch it at the time when I speak incorrectly. Being tired is often a factor. I usually don't catch speaking errors until I'm editing and often I just leave it if I feel the viewers get the basic idea of what I'm talking about.

Just messing around. Where my rod tip depends on what I'm doing. Stripping anything it's an inch above the water.
