Yeah amazing parenting, so you punished her (the minor, the child) for what internet grownups were putting her through and took away her privacy. So I guarantee you she learned two lessons from this. 1) She cannot trust you to tell you about dangerous situations. She knows you'll just turn around and punish her instead. 2) Methods to go about and do it behind your back.
This show is dated and kids needs better parenting than this. Do better.

I was much more familiar with the Internet than my parents - even my mom, who was in Data Processing. She would stand behind me when I was online and read what I was saying and looked to see what I was doing. It drove me CRAZY when I was these kids’ ages, but I understood why she did it.
I never mouthed off because she would have IMMEDIATELY unplugged the computer/Internet and taken the cords.

Also, all the kids are learning from each other. No rules. They are proud of the bad behaviour. These parents need to learn birth control, not parenting.

@volklupo5133 because I often watch Jo and see mistakes I made. My kids made their own decisions as adults, but I always wish I had had another supportive, knowledgeable adult like her to guide me when they were little. Maybe then their choices would have been different in adulthood. Attention, discipline, routine are more crucial than some young parents know.

It still amazes how many parents do not understand that their role is to teach their children independent living skills. Your job is to teach your children to do it for themselves, not to be their slaves.
