Not sure how I've never come across this channel before. Excellent review: concise, unbiased, and informative. I have a Korean built electrified GV70 and absolutely love it.
Took delivery of my GV70 EV over 4 months ago from a Genesis distributor in Southern Ontario, Canada. Price quoted was a no haggle transaction. Support from Genesis is outstanding and the delivery was done to my home. Drove a 2019 Tesla Model 3 for 3 1/2 years and truly loved it. Wanted something more traditional (buttons) and luxurious and the GV70 fit the bill. Range was certainly a concern but so far after 7040 KM we averaged 5.5 KM/Kwh for a range of 426 KM which is almost 8% better than what you have reported. In my opinion the GV70 electrified is the best EV value in Canada.
David, I have always chosen Lexus over other vehicles. This is a different circumstance. The streamlined interior is extremely sharp and how the leather and silver contrasts each other very well. Very much like the buttons and switches, especially the large knobs. The oversize sun/moonroof stood out in your awesome review. Another feature I like is the slim front headlights and rear tail lights. The Genesis warranty is generous in its coverage of components, and is something that I always look for.
I've had the eGV70 for a few months. Overall, amazing. Minor complaints: small back seat, limited color options, understeer, and range. Looks good, feels good, goes good, and pratical because it's and EV and an SUV.
Great review David, thank you! I will be scheduling a test drive with both the Genesis and the Lexus to feel and the the differences myself.Happy travels👍
11:02 my E GV70 gave me problems with acceleration. Dealer could not solve the problem. But they stepped up and replaced it with another EGV70 and that one is great...so far. Free charging for 3 years!
Great video. I just ordered GV70 2.5 Prestige after comparing to Lexus RX 350. Electric needs more range before I will convert. I concur with your opinions. Its a better more comfortable and interesting ride than the Lexus. Having been a Toyota guy for 30 years… I am willing to give Genesis a chance for the reasons you highlighted. Thanks!
Great review and it’s giving me more love for my 2023 Kia Sportage, two totally different levels, but in the same Family with many similarities. 👍🏾 to Genesis and Kia.
David: I was planning to purchase the GV70 (gas engine) in 2024. I was sorry to learn that Genesis is moving production to Alabama. Do you believe that Genesis QC will be sufficient enough to overcome the build-quality of the U.S. automakers. I really like the GV70, but I’m afraid the quality will suffer from this decision.
💯 the review i was looking for and i agree its hard to find a flaw in this car other than what you pointed out. Im a finance guy and their current lease option vs the modle Y puts this one ahead base on interior and the fact 2025 it can use the tesla charging stations for my wife which is enough to push her away from a larger gas highlander/eclave (currently what she was wanting).
I've heard recently that Genesis will begin providing OTA updates starting in 2024. I heard the GV60 will get them but do you know or can you find out if the GV70 will get them and if so which model years will be eligible?
The only good thing the Harper government did for Canada; The Korean Free Trade Agreement means Canada gets more South Korean build vehicles. Thank you KFTA!
As a luxury ev, I highly doubt there will be any resale value. Just look at the model x and how the value of that fell off a cliff. Imo this is a lease car rather than a buy car and by the time lease is done the next gen of ev with better range and efficiency is out.
Gv70 EV over RZ every time! Gv has better looks, interior, power, range, charging. RZ is good but falls short. Thanks David!
Thanks for your comments Kirk. talk to you soon about our Japan trip!

I wish Genesis had its own dealer network instead of being lumped together in Hyundai dealerships for sales/service.
I'm 13000 into my EV GV70 and I'm still amazed by the engineering. Just a fantastic driving experience. 🎉👍👍

I really enjoy your reviews with your years of auto engineering experience and unique insights.
thank you!
Nice review. I like the incredible attention to detail you have.

Fantastic review. I would love to see you review a Cadillac Lyriq.
Oh actually now I see that you did do a Lyriq comparison with the Lexus. How would you compare the Lyriq to the Genesis?

Great conclusion on your personal pick. 💯 10:23

Love this channel keep it up ❤
Thank you!
Great review - thank you! Test drove a 2024 last week, and the cramped back seat is a deal-breaker.

Very hard to fault, isn't it? Its an old car now and yet we speak of it as if it just came out like the all-new Lexus RZ.
As a luxury ev, I highly doubt there will be any resale value. Just look at the model x and how the value of that fell off a cliff.

I leased...exactlty and residual value just fine.
Interesting Canadian models don’t get US built, right across the border!
US-built EVs get better US tax rebates over non-US built, so they are saved here for US buyers' tax purposes
$7500 rebate
