You are welcome Chris! It is a ways off but it will be TOTALLY worth it!!!!!!!! Plus waits for cruises are soooo hard no matter if it is a five day or five hundred day wait!
Coming over from Europe, it really is such a sad thing that there are some very deserving staff that don't get compensated enough through their hard work via their basic salary. Thanks so much for letting us know that we can prepay tips, I'll have to call them up to sort that. I guess I'll have to take some cash with me for that "friend" who will no doubt order all the free room service :) Actually, do you have any plans to make a video on room service? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
I do have a room service video coming out shortly on my favorite thing to order from room service. I have on my list to do a more extensive room service video.. so it will pop up one of these days :)
We always prepay our gratuities for every cruise we’ve been on. We have given our head steward and head waiter “extra” tips the last night on our last cruise because they were so awesome!
It’s now $13.50 not $12 Cash is not convenient for CM’s but of course they appreciate all forms of gratuity. Having to safely stash lots of cash in the staff cabins is not great. Getting funds back home quickly in local currency’s much easier if you let DCL electronically transfer the funds into their direct deposit account. Gratuity amounts can always be adjusted at guest services at anytime while you are onboard. The reason DCL does these auto tips is because tipping practices in the US is very different from everywhere else in the world. The current tipping formula is intended to be convenient. Tipping at Disney is never required. Ashley, please consider doing an updated video on tipping. Keep up the great posts!
I have a really hard time with the designated tip for the head waiter (not your table waiter). Especially when there are others that are deserving. I also don't agree with the automatic 18% When e did the spa pass they charfed 18% and dod NOTHING except check me in and hand me a robe. Not really worthy of 18% of that package.
Great video! Thumb's up! Sooooo.... if I understand correctly.... tip, tip, tip, tip, tip, tip...and...tip! 😂I like giving cash in-person and saying 'thank you'. You do get treated like royalty, so tipping feels good and ensures continued exemplary service... never done a Disney cruise before, but now that we have a little one, we want to... have done Royal Caribbean only to date... but not for the past few years....
Great video. When we went on our cruise in August we ordered room service and it did not cost us anything but there was a $ 1.44 included for the tip, even though it was included we still tipped $5.00 on top of that. We were on the Magic. Thanks for sharing.
Interesting for the $1.44 charge. Did you buy something that is listed with a price like candy or a can of coke? I know they include tip on alcohol as well but if you only paid $1.44 that wouldnt make sense. Hmm... now I want to know why they charged you. It's like a riddle lol.
@@DisneyCruisers We did get cans of Coke products. Thank you for bringing that up, I didn't realize thats what the charge was. That was the first time we ever ordered room service. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Sorry, I didn't quite understand! I prepaid my cruise, so does that include the tip charge? Or will I get a separate tip bill on the boat? Thanks for all your videos! Watching endless cruise videos is half the fun of planning!
The tips you will still have to pay. It is $12 per person per night. It will be added to your onboard account.. which is where you will be charged for things like alcohol and merchandise. You will pay this off at the end of your cruise with a credit card. You can however prepay your tips by calling DCL... super easy to do! If this doesn’t answer your question feel free to tell me and I can explain more :)
We usually tip between 20 and 30 dollars. It is charged to your account - so you just sign the bill/receipt at the end and that is where you add your tip. 👍🏻
Disney Cruisers , also another question as I am abit confused ,so is it $12 per night or is it more cause I am reading different things on tipping which is really confusing me lol so say me and my mom and my 2 year nephew go we pay 36$ per night so for 3 nights it would be 144$ in tips or is it more?
Great job covering this subject! Tipping is something a lot of people don't have on their radar when taking a cruise.
Thanks Tim!
Booked our family’s first Disney Cruise for 2020! It’s sooo far away. Thanks for all the tips!

Same! First cruise in January. Way too excited and already planning a second. Just waiting to get on the ship to do a placeholder.

Disney Vacation Family Once you cruise Disney, you can never go back! It is addicting!! The service is beyond imagination 😍
Thanks. How much should concierge be tipped?
I will definitely review this video again before a cruise. Great info!🚢 #DisneyCruisersBinge

I have never really gotten a good answer for how much of a tip we should leave at Palo. what do you think is appropriate?
Phil Strack I’m assuming it would be the standard 20% that you would pay to eat out at a regular restaurant off the ship.
What is the customary tip for Palo ? And will it be charged to charge account or do we pay tip in person?
We usually tip between 20 and 30 dollars. It is charged to your account - so you just sign the bill/receipt at the end and that is where you add your tip. 👍🏻
Thank you .
How much do you guys usually tip the porters at the terminal?
When they walk us to our car on debarkation morning.. like $15-$20. When we just unload our bags at the luggage drop off.. like $2 a bag 👍🏻
So palo don't get tips from the prepaid gratuities ?
Correct 😃
Can someone help with how much to tip for a family of five, 4 day cruise to concierge.
Tipping is a set amount that you can either prepay or pay on your last morning of the cruise.
When said per person does that also include young children?
Yes 😬

Are kids also $12?
Yes :) It is $12 per person per night
They just up it to 13
