Welcome to the Castaway Club! You can probably leave the bag at home next trip. The return cruiser gift has been some sort of bag for the last 25 years! Just got off the Dream for my 55th bday and left my 30yr old kid at home!

That's great! One less thing to pack, which will be really nice. Also, that sounds like an amazing way to celebrate your birthday. Happy birthday!

For motion sickness I would highly recommend Ship Ezzz patches. After finding out the hard way I typically get motion sickness on cruises. In May when we sailed on the Wish my son and I used the patches and neither of us had any issues and there are no side effects.

I wondered about the patch options. It would certainly be easier than remembering to take a pill each day. Did you have to get that from your doctor?

I'm not a big fan of balconies and the top edge of the ship. I have some height issues. We have always booked the Oceanview room, and the window is so big and there is such a nice feel of privacy when you leave it open. Good info, thanks for the tip on the motion nightlight, tripping and moving about in the dark at night is an issue and the night light would really help!

That's really great to hear about the oceanview! I'm excited to try out an oceanview room on our Wish cruise. I hadn't really thought about the heights on the verandah. What decks have you tried out verandahs? I like the mid-floors, 7/8. Maybe those are too bad?

@CWintheWC My first Disney cruise was in a room with a balcony on the upper decks somewhere above 4. I didn't like the hastle of the glass door and I had two kids 10 and 12 at the time and I was always worried about them being outside alone on the balcony. Since then I've done Oceanview rooms and I just prefer the layout of the room it just feels bigger and I enjoy sitting in the big chair in front of the window and watching when the ship is at sea!

That makes a ton of sense. In fact, my sister's kids are the reason we're doing oceanview on our Wish cruise because they will be cruising with us. I'm sure we'll love it. I'm glad to hear that it feels more spacious. Definitely looking forward to that.

You can ask your room attendant for a extra blanket, pillows anything within reason. 🤔👍🏻 We have stayed in all staterooms categories and are favorite is the ocean view. ❤🚢 Fantasy and Dream are the only ones having a magical porthole. Thanks for sharing 🤗♥️⚓️🚢

Thank you! That's all really helpful. I don't know why we didn't think about asking our room attendant. Rookie mistake for sure. Also glad to know about the magic portholes only being on the Dream and Fantasy. I hadn't heard anything about the inside rooms on the newer ships. I'd be interested to know what makes the oceanview win over the verandah. We'll be in an oceanview for our Wish cruise next January.

@@CWintheWC We have found that we didn't use our verandah that much for the cost. We enjoyed our larger porthole, you still see out and see the ocean. We just sailed the Wish inside stateroom and there is a large picture of one of the princess above the bed. The bathroom has a nightlight switch. We enjoyed our stateroom choice on the Wish. You might want to get a European plug cube, to get more use out of your outlets. You need to watch RUclips videos on the Wish, its alot different from the Fantasy, it was helpful to us.

We will definitely plan to watch vlogs on the Wish for sure. I've watched so many about the classic ships, and the Wish does sound very different. I had a feeling a verandah might be a waste for us as well. One day, when we have a chance to try one, hopefully it's nice weather, and we can see if we end up using it or not. We may find it's not worth it. I do think we'll enjoy having the oceanview, though. I'm looking forward to that.

Thanks for posting this and all your other videos. We’re going on our first cruise soon, and it’s the same ship and itinerary as yours, so we’ve been watching all your videos and they’ve been really helpful. We’ve also just ordered some magnetic hooks having spent the past few months convinced that whilst everyone spoke about them we wouldn’t need them 😂

I'm so glad this has been helpful for you. I learned so much watching vlogs before our cruise. It's great to see others experiences to try to plan what you need to bring or might like to do. In fact, we found out about the Pirate Museum in St. Thomas from other vloggers. I loved your comment about the magnetic hooks! We were the same way, I think it took basically everyone on RUclips talking about them to full convince me, and man did we use them!

When we cruise we also bring our own travel hangers, so we can hang all of our shirts/pants/dresses in the closets right away (makes it easier to pick out your outfits in the morning and keeps them from wrinkling as well), a silicone sleeve for a curling iron, a small hanging mesh toiletry bag for things you would normally have either in the shower or on your bathroom counter (razors, toothbrushes, deodorant, toothpaste, etc), our own travel size of liquid hand soap, travel reusable straws, and a collapsible laundry hamper for the closet. When we went on 2 port excursions, we brought water shoes and zippered wet bags to store them in to keep our wet swim suits and water shoes in the keep everything else in our beach bag dry. Be sure to bring your own door magnets to decorate your door with to be part of the fun and easily identify your stateroom door as well.

I bought water shoes specifically for this trip, and I was soooo glad to have them! I love the mesh toiletry bag too. That's a great idea!

It was recommended for our shore excursion to have water shoes to interact with dolphins (you stand in the water on metal platforms) and we were also glad we had them. The mesh toiletry caddy was very handy for not only my husband and I, but for our tween daughter as well. It really helped keep our room so clean and organized. When our room Stewart would come in there was never anything on our counters, floors, or on our beds (except my unplugged curling iron), so it made his job so easy.

Great info thanks, my family and I are sailing this May 18-25th same cruise you were on the Western Carribean on the Fantasy. I have a question did the ship seem crowed with that many passengers or was everyone spread out and didn't feel crowed? Thanks

    • @CWintheWC
      @CWintheWC  9 месяцев назад +2

So fun! I'm sure you will have an amazing time. I would say there were areas that felt very crowded and other spaces that didn't. We just found ourselves migrating to areas that were quieter as needed.
