Absolutely love Singapore, Singaporean, their unique accent, efficiency, FOOD and weather (yes its hot but in Japan its too cold). Been studying in Singapore since 2011 and now working in Singapore for my 5th year now. Shiok la!
Glad u love the place haha
How long do you think you would stay in Singapore feasibly?
There got time zone right
Forgot where is it lmfao
@@ForfunIG a lot of places have actually. Jurong point also have one.
If there's one main takeaway (pun intended) from the series, is that the best places to eat here are the "smaller' mom and pop stalls. They seem to be leaps and bounds above the fancier restaurants.
Facts.
And that is also true for almost all south east asian countries, the smaller establishments and street foods just taste better than big fancy places
actually when mom and pops become so big and they start to have multiple branches, their quality goes down. LoLs
that dim sum place that try to scam you with a $4 appetizer making u think its free is a real deal breaker for me lol, wont patronize such a place.
🙌
I absolutely adore these Singapore videos. Best part of my day
Mr. Chen says he can't afford the napkins at the restaurant...he's a freaking multimillionaire for gosh sakes!
@@prodgers71 look at your comment history bro 💀 absolutely obsessed
Just got to Singapore yesterday and these videos have made food hunting a lot easier. Thanks Mikey. Legend
Welcome to Singapore! Make sure to try all the hawker food that mike recommended! Enjoy!
As a westsider in Singapore, i can confirm Jurong Point is probably the best mall in Singapore, with all the varieties of shopping, food and even the layout of the place is good. Its very easy to get from one end of the mall to the other, the carpark is massive and NEVER full even on peak periods. The MRT is right beside and the bus interchange is inside the mall. Don Don Donki is opening there at the end of the year as well! This mall literally has everything, can be crowded at times but it sure isn't as bad as Jurong East's JEM.
same dp🙃
Jem and JE have literally nothing given its size
donki is opening on 17 nov, i heard from my friend working in there
would love to see you try authentic Malay food as well while you're still here in singapore! hajah maimunah would be a great place to start with as they have a variety and their food isnt bad nor super pricy! id recommend the ayam merah (a spicy chicken made with roasted dried chili) lemak chili padi (coconut milk based gravy with a surprising amount of spice) and definitely begedil (potato cutlets! a nice soft potato texture atop with everything else)
Indonesian food too.
YES MAIMUNAH! Love the food there. makes my mouth water everytime i think of their nasi padang.
I live about five minute walking distance from this mall.. there were times I walked around for more than one hour just deciding what to eat for dinner because there are just way too many options. If only I had Mike’s appetite and metabolism then things would be easier😂
Speaking of the west side there’s also Jurong east mrt station with its three malls.. (there’s also the visual exchange area near the station).. within the malls 2 don don donki outlets and their food courts, ikea and its foodcourt, and myriads of other food options
I feel stressed everyday choosing what to eat hahaha
😅😅Very true.. Being someone recently moved in to SG and staying at a walkable distance from here .. I'm always confused what should I try in Jurong Point..Mostly endup my regularl Indian restaurant with a guilty feeling.. 😔 😭
Can we talk about mike’s iconic wrinkled looking t-shirt. Thank you for all the Singapore food vlog videos. I’m lovin it!
whoever dropped you that Ji Xiang ang ku kueh is truly an angel. Ji Xiang's traditional mochi desserts are one of my fav things ever.
He has a way of making food look SO much better than it actually is lol!!
Love all your videos details and informing us about the best dishes.I can't believe you mention our favorite spot in Glendale Din Ti Fung yes Alitalia pricey but so worth it enjoy your stay in Singapore
I tried amazing food in Singapore bc of your videos. I can’t wait to go back and go to this shopping center
Hi Mike! Rather than crystal jade or dai tai fung, “Paradise Dynasty” serves pretty decent noodles and xlb. Under the same group, their “Le Shrimp”/“Beauty in a pot” restaurants are pretty good too.
I think you will enjoy “Chen Mapo Tofu” too
These 3 restaurants can be found at Star Vista :)
Love your content! Looking fwd to more!
Totally agreed. Paradise Dynasty is my 1st go to for noodles n xlb. They are the best to me as compared to crystal jade n ding tai fung.
Great video! Its a lot of fun seeing all the cool food
Omg yassss, love love love trying new things and I'm definitely going to keep my eyes out for a couple of these dishes.
I was having an absolutely awful day, but, Mr. Chen, your videos never fail to put me in a better mood. Your attitude never fails to elevate mine. Thank you!
Monaka has been my favorite style of ice cream sandwich since my visit to Tokyo three years ago...sooo good! I think I'd gain about 20 pounds if ever I went to Singapore with how much good food there is to eat out that way. Japanese curry is a favorite thing of mine to eat as well, and CoCo Curry Ichiban was a good place to go--but next time I go? I will definitely seek out the curry places you liked in Jinbocho! (I bet Miss Christine got a laugh out of you being chewed out by the Auntie, too.)
There's just so many places to choose from! That beef bento box had me though.... 💖 The subtitles ( I'm deaf) were quite naughty when you were eating Japanese at the Malaysian area. Lol😁🤣🤦 We're all adults though and I know subtitles aren't perfect! Lol
You were in my neighbourhood...
BTW, the small dish which they "give", quickly refused just before they put on the table, no matter how tempting it is. Some restaurants will ask if you want it before serving it. And you mentioned if they re-use, a very good reason not to accept it.
Wow that mall is huge and looks amazing 🤩 I want to visit and see that mall. It’s like walking on the street seen all those food vendors in that food court. Every food has his own place 😊 that food look so good
Trust me, I live near this mall and the mall is small af
@@adalinaphang7931 i live on TOP of the mall it’s like the 4th biggest mall by land area wym 💀
@@adalinaphang7931 its not small. Its just cramp.
Hey to all that is watching this late into an evening.... And regretting it 🤣 great content again Mike, I've missed Singapore soooo much! X
I love your take on food in different country's!!!! I love you positive vibes for the food you eat.😍😁👍
Hey Mikey !
I'm glad you are enjoying your food rounds within neighbourhood malls. The next ones you can try are Northpoint at Yishun or WaterwayPoint at Punggol. These are probably few of the biggest malls within the heartlanders.
Anyway thanks also for being so understanding to the rules of the food court. That aunty shouldn't have scolded you so long though 😂. Some food courts only sells Halal certified food (for muslims who don't eat pork) so outside food is a no-no. The utensils used and seating areas are meant to be 'free' from presence of non-halal food. Another factor cld be different food courts are operated by different Tenants so they are competitors regardless. You eating another food court's food in the competitor's premise might not be accepted in the latter's POV.
Have a splendid time exploring more malls before you return back to the US Mike !
Muslims are well known for being intolerant towards those of other faiths.
When I saw you bring the Japanese food to the Malaysian place I immediately thought to myself "oh no, he's going to get scolded" and you really did 🤣 I'm sorry you had to go through 20 min of lecture for that.
The Japanese once invaded Malaysia during WWII. That's why you can't bring Japanese food to Malaysia food court! It's as offensive as bringing German food to eat in a Jewish restaurant!
@@js6383 No lol, it’s clearly nonsense.
You'll definitely have to try some Peranakan cuisine while you're here. it's Straits Chinese food and very specific to SG/MY
Everything looks amazing Mikey! Def need to put Singapore on my must visit list.
I prefer to support the mom&pop stalls, or hawker stalls... in the malls... It would have to be a pretty superior dish to get me to go to a chain shop (like crystal)... Really hate the shops which (deceptively) issue you items, dishes, napkins etc to charge you without asking... The pork belly bun is on my list... lol
For foodcourts / coffeeshop where your not allowed to eat outside food if you order something from the place itself at the same time most places will let you eat the food you brought from outside
Ohhhh I’m going to miss you visiting Singapore soooooo much. Love all these videos.
You really should turn SG into your second homebase. From there you can easily explore plenty of original Southeast Asian food culture with a simple plane ride in the weekend. Malaysian, Thail, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Pinoy foods are some of the bests in the world and deserve more recognition.
I feel the same way… but it feels like Mike is only interested in East Asian cuisine, which is a shame because there’s so much else out here in Southeast Asia :/
@@carolyong huh? Mikey loves Vietnamese and philipino food. You buggin
i think Mike has just barely scratched the surface of Singapore cuisine. the options are just wayyyyyyyy too many!
✨Totally agree!
Yeah me as well... Everytime I eat at "Malaysia Boleh" at Jurong point, if I so much as drink from my own water bottle (even if I'm eating food from the place), I get reprimanded by staff for eat/drinking outside food...
Thank you for visiting the west! Marilyn here. Glad you loved my fave dessert Yam flavoured Ang Ku Kueh (Teochew dessert). 😊
Singapore is so small, you’re finally went to the west and yet somehow I’ve never bumped into you?! Whatttttt hahahahah. Thank you for sharing hidden gems!
Hahaha getting scolded by an auntie is part of the Singapore experience
Welcome to Singapore!! You should try 云海肴, it’s yunnan cuisine and you will love it!
Very near where I grew up… from no JP at all to JP1 and now JP1&2 with this Japanese food street… used to be my favourite hangout in my school days, miss those days!
In Singapore and you're eating Japanese food. What's next? Singaporean food in Japan?
so?
The oden is seriously so good. I remember buying this w my friends after school and lepaking at the nearby park. It’s such comfort food
Would love to visit Singapore someday. Foodie heaven 😍
No. Malaysia food is much nicer and cheaper. Singapore Food is like a weird less good version of Malaysia Food. :)
Malaysia foods standard drop. Expensive too.
@@schadenfreude6274 SG food is healthier compared to the greasy and MSG packed food in Malaysia
@@schadenfreude6274 It's funny you say that because you commented on another video how Malaysian food was "disgusting"...
Watching Mike's videos for a while created a false security in my ability to eat. 2 bowls of noodles and 1 bowl of rice? I'm hungry, that should be fine! I couldn't move after bowl 2. If he isn't spending the entire day at the location walking each meal off with at least 1 "leftovers guy", I don't know how he does it. If I ever get a chance to meet him, most of my questions would revolve around that!
from what I've gathered, he seems to have a pretty hefty workout routine.
As a singaporean, we are blessed that we save a lot of money on food as we don't need to travel the whole world and yet we could enjoy them, like taiwan food, korea, japan, france, malay, indian, chinese, Arabia, hong kong, and the list go on, 😋
If you love noodles, try ahma chi mian, dry noodles come with soup on the side! And if you like… their liver dish with chilli is fantastic too
Wow!!! Lot’s of affordable items to devour!!!
You stopped by Beard Papa’s Singapore?
Unfortunately, in the states no KazeKaze!!!
If you’re in Los Angeles come by Beard Papa’s in Korea town and I promise you I will give you every samples on my menu. I’m pleased that you have a soft spot for Beard Papa’s. All the best!!!
Jurong Point used to have a popular roast meat eatery (Lai Lai Kitchen) that served probably the best chicken/pork/duck rice Ive ever eaten. Im just so sad that they closed down bc Covid and bc they dont have any successors to the business (and recipe)... oh I miss their chicken rice so much...
I've been having a lot of trouble with my appetite and your videos help me a lot ^•^
Singapore is a food heaven. 😋
The amount of vegetarian options at that one restaurant was really surprising!!
Yes, I like that more and more restaurants have vegetariam options, I hope it keeps growing
@@conspiracionesy ye but if it’s vegetarian its not rlly the real food is it?

Am I the only one who noticed that Mikey never talked about the grilled squid that was recommended to him by a viewer, and just talked about the chicken....I was waiting for to hear if the quid lived up to the expectation but alas, all he talked about was the chicken. Then again, maybe that his polite was saying it wasn't his favorite. I know he prefers to focus on positives and steer away from any negativity. I just wish he said something about it, after saying he went to that place because a fan who recongized him there, told him the Grilled squid was great.
Loving all the uploads all the food looks yummy ❤❤
Great food!! Great vid
I'd love to see your list of 'If you have a week in Singapore, go to these places"
Will you be trying or featuring any Malay or Indian food next in Singapore ? Awesome as always. 🙋🏾♀️📸 From a Singaporean
I love zongzi. The yellow green beans in zongzi is soooo gooood and they put pork belly and Chinese sausage and salted egg soooo bombbbbb I love it
Thanks for coming my house just beside the mall 😂❤
I am drooling watching this 😛🤤
What can’t be better than that? 🍽🤤
Nothing!!!
LOVE Noodles so much! Stoked to try the New HOTOIL!

Looks sooo good 🤤
The fish soup stall at basement food court is good as well! There's always a long queue.
Oh my god I lived near Jurong point. :( but jurong point has a lot of food that's nice. Thank you for this video Mike! :D
AMAZING food mikey, keep the videos coming!!!
Hey Mike. Happy Monday, & Halloween 🎃. Not sure if u celebrate. But ijs! The meals look great.. Be safe tonight if u are out.. I know u travel. But yea... 🐞😋❤️
I could swear I wasn’t hungry before I started watching these videos -it’s 7am I’m making instant ramen.
I love this place, I used to eat 2 meals a day here everyday during the holidays
Another RUclips creator, Solo Travel Japan, also loves that ice cream. I am glad I ate my dinner before I watched this. 😁
OMG MIKE U WERE AT JURONG POINT!!! I GO THERE ALMOST EVERYDAY!
Yes usually the food courts have a no outside food policy.initial I thought you managed to escape being called out. Haha.
I don't think it's usually. Should be all of them. Some of the staffs don't really got bothered by it and just don't try to bring tons of outside foods or do it when it's crowded, and you'll be fine.
I enjoy all your videos you published I look forward to them I like the places you go and the food you describe I can tell that you really is a foodie at heart and you also like a good deal when you can find one but most important to you is at the food is authentic that it tastes good and it's hot season
Hey Mikey please try the singapore zoo morning buffet. Its a treat!!!
Sir. Amazing food. Thank you! I don’t think going to the office with a wrinkle shirt is to standard. 😊Anyway, thank you for all the videos!
My hometown mall! Welcome, Mike!!
Please go try Peranakan food at “The Blue Ginger”, it’s located at Tanjong Pagar! It’s AMAZING
Watching while hungry is not a good idea.Looks so delectable
*wow! The food looks great*
Those "appetisers" on the tables in restaurants are not free LOL. We will usually inform the waiter who bring us to the tables that we do not want it. Yes for the wet tissues too we will return. Although some places charge them rather cheap at 20 cents each (rare though).
You should have tried that Legendary Hong Kong Dim Sum restaurant. Huge menu and really has the Hong Kong char chan tang vibes. Very very nice and even Hong Kong people likes to patronise the place. The queue can get pretty long as well.
Lots delicious yummy 😋 food 🍲 . Enjoy your dish. Watching from Saipan near Guam cheers 🥂.
I live near there and almost had my meals twice per week there!!! never got to meet u TT and you should have tried the legendary dimsum !!! its really goodd
Ladies and gents, kids of all watching, note, NOTE, eating and posting what you eat IS a viable career. The above guy is proof and so is best ever food review show.
Hi! Im Singaporean and i was hoping you coudl give Bukit Timah Centre a try!! it has alot of amazing food :)
I'm going to be in Singapore at the end of the month and now I'm so excited!!!
Hi, I’m also going to Singapore end of the month but I see everyone wearing mask do know if that is mandatory?
I'm a Singaporean. When I heard you say you were going to bring the Jap food to the "food court upstairs", I thought "Oh oh, somebody please tell Mike" LOL Basically if you bring "outside" food and eat that in the food court, you're depriving the stall owners of income, not to mention depriving them of other possible income as you're seated at the table and other people who want to eat the food court's food can't (if it's a really crowded place). Nobody knows whether you'll be supporting the food court and buying their food eventually, so to make it fair to everybody, "outside" food is just not allowed. This applies Singapore-wide, not just at this particular mall. And yes blame it on the mall for not providing proper seating for food buyers.
Blame it on the cheap Japan Food Street which didn’t want to pay rental for more space to let their patrons eat at their premises.
@@san-ju30 There's actually a food-court equivalent space along the Japan Food Street. It might not be as noticeable, maybe Mike missed it-- but I think you'll be able to have Japan Food street items there since it's probably under the same organisation.
i had the exact same thoughts when i heard mike said that... 😂
Singaporean here too, I think it's alright during off peak hours. Looks pretty empty in the background when he was there. But yeah, if it's busy, best not to.
Yeah that immediately crossed my mind, when Mike said that! Pretty much every food court in a Singapore shopping mall prohibits folks from bringing in food from outside the food court.
Oh man!! You're there now???? Making me want to take next flight over to SG!!!! So hungry now!!!
please give a head's up when you're coming back to singapore! there's so much food recommendation to share!
Mikey, I loved that Whistling song you played as you walked on to Japan Street! What was it? Oh and you can't fake how bad that last restaurant really was lol
nice, i just live nearby, glad you enjoyed it
Squid is my fav at riverside! Try the plaza singapura outlet ( known to be the best outlet of riverside )
Poor Mike got scolded by the aunty! :") At least now you know not to eat in food courts 😂 Anyway, love your video as usual!
Try the Indonesian riverside panggang rice… to die for… always yummy
Loll. I was thinking if someone will tell him off for eating in the foodcourt because there are people who will do that if you bring in outside food. Turns out same thing there. But thats common here as most places don't allow outside food.
U should try some of the Nonya dumplings, they are nice too
I have been to Jurong point a few times not once did I try out these great eateries. I feel like I missed out on some great food experiences! 😅
Hey Mike, please review some of the riverfront restaurants on Clarke Quay. Go there for dinner if you could. It's really beautiful at night
Is there a name?
Would like for you to try some Peranakan/Nonya food while you're here in Singapore! I recommend Makko Teck Neo or HarrisAnns Nonya table. Some iconic dishes are buah keluak, babi pongteh and kueh (bite-size sweets). Some popular Nonya kueh include ondeh ondeh which is a round pandan ball with gula melaka inside. Warning! Eat the ondeh ondeh whole otherwise the gula melaka will burst!
Westlake's main branch at Farrer Road is much closer to where Mike is staying. In fact, I think he's already been there!
