- When in #singapore nothing better to do than to go on a street food tour. First thing in the morning, I had butter coffee and kaya toast. Then I found the most amazing Hainanese chicken and rice after that had to grab some laksa. Next, I stopped by for some murtabak and also some of the best-braised duck and rice dishes. Afterward, I had #indonesian fried #chicken at a cafeteria food court, and for my last meal, one of the best-burnt noodles.

Hello, i am from Singapore and unfortunately here there are many pesky people that have a hard time minding their own business (which is why vlogging and YT video creators regarding our country is VERY LESS). This is really coupled with the fact that we really hate selfie sticks as there has been MANY unfavorable situations of people using selfie sticks and causing many obstructions and blocking the path while using it. Wonderful country, very poor culture.

Much as I love the Sungei Road Laksa, I only wish you could have tasted it 12 years ago. Somehow it's just not the same today, back then the soup was much richer and flavorful. As for the pinhead who told you to dip that murtabak in chilli sauce, he must have been drunk. Murtabak ONLY pairs good with curry. Lastly, butter works with our coffee mainly because we typically use a blend of very dark roasted beans that has been roasted with sugar and butter/margarine.
If you look at the whole roasted beans we use, you'll see they're charred and black, and sticky. So adding butter to the brewed coffee accentuates the caramel flavor that comes with the burnt sugar and margarine. Your cholesterol levels do take a huge hit with every cup, though.

@@choonkeonglim6178 Even though it's not as good today, worse fate has descended on the 328 Katong Laksa. It's even more watered down than Sungei Road's laksa. And that is from the shop in Katong, don't dare to imagine how the franchise outlets' soup tastes.

When my husband was working in a nursing home kitchen, there was a man who took his coffee with butter. Had never been out of the country, but he had taken it that way for like 60 years. He was way ahead of his years.

Too many delicious things. I know I'll never travel because I work paycheck to paycheck and have to support my family, but watching Mikey Chen transports me and gives me a glimpse of all the delicious food I'm missing out on. Bitter sweet.

When I was a cna we gave butter coffee and butter prune juice to the older people who were constipated. It helped with urge to go and it helped it ...ummm come out smoother so it didn't hurt.
Maybe I'll try butter coffee...my painkillers give me...um...er...problems.

I am surprised you know where to get that coffee with butter. I believe that's the last place in Singapore that serves this.👍
Just a heads up, Mike. The university canteen you ate at is actually Canteen 2 in NTU (Nanyang Technological University), not NIE (National Institute of Education). And you can actually catch free shuttle buses within the school so you don’t have to walk across the entire campus :)

The National Institute of Education is actually a smaller campus further away from this canteen. With the 20 over canteens in the whole campus you may want to consider changing the address so your viewers can have less trouble finding it.

Hi Mike! That indonesian chicken rice (ayam penyet) is actually available at various locations in Singapore. You didn’t have to go to a university campus to have it 😂 Next on your list should be nasi padang!! You’ll LOVE IT (due to the various dishes displayed behind the glass case).
