A lot more fathers need to be like you my friend teaching their son how to fix things with what they got great job 👏 guys.kallamazoo Michigan said that.
My daughters have no interest in anything mechanical, so I at least teach them the most basic things so hopefully they wont be completly helpless. Ludington here.
JD will remember these revivals for years if not for life. You are showing him that everything doesn't have to be thrown away after it's been used. You are instilling knowledge and value in him.
Unbelievable that any of those cars ran - good old GM engineering. Love the ingenuity in using the license plate for both a pry bar and a hack saw. Many years ago my fuel filter clogged up and I used a pen tube as a bypass to get her home - when dealing with old cars you need to be very creative at times.
I love when you explain to your son to feather the throttle, the look on his face when he is concentrating on feathering it. He will be one of the few new gen that has common sense. Great job! 👍
Keep this up, and soon you'll be the Cadillac Ranch of the GTO world....Folks will come from miles.... Great vid, good seeing JD, and "those other guys;" whoever the hell they were!
The 301 should get the best gas mileage and might have the best traction, plus towing with cars is usually limited by the rear frame or trans cooler, rarely by the engine. Adults don't accelerate, so GTOs are toys unless modified for towing, with receiver hitches, that or flip to a man-child. To tow campers for the homeless, it needs a receiver hitch, but 301 is plenty. Kevin's diesel El Dorado demonstrated it's traction, but can it tow? His diesel truck can, slowly or with another engine, ideally 4.3, gas or diesel.
Kevin's failure to flip is childish, and GTO's are good for flipping, but not much else. Kevin owns too many cars. Revive a Chevette! Though I hear you can't find a Chevette with posi. Revive wagons!
I assume the "unrestorable" GTO you walked by is the one I saw on Facebook. Can't wait to see that in some upcoming videos! Love me some Pontiac content, keep em coming!
GTO and Grand Prix have poor mileage, poor traction, and are too small to house the homeless, so I see no redeeming factors except possibly, with rear frame and suspension upgrades, they might tow camping trailers, which might then house the homeless. Kevin chose much better with his FWD diesel for 2wd traction, which he demonstrated even with a flat tire, and a pickup which can both carry and tow campers, though perhaps with another engine if that one can't be fixed. Try retorquing head bolts if not too late. Retorquing should be routine on those 350 Olds diesels. Is there a good retorquing spec? Adults don't accelerate.
I love JD's comment "Rest in Peace" and the way he says it almost as an afterthought, after the thought that Dalton has crashed into SOMETHING with this 400 Pontiac...
Ifn this was an actual contest… I’ve gotta say you won 😄 When you looked back at JD and said most of us wouldn’t think the GTO is restorable… I knew that car was probably going to Missouri. Can’t wait to see what you guys get into next and what might happen to a certain 69 Goat. Thanks guys!
It's funny, I watched the first couple min of the Junkyard Digs video and said I'd come back to it. Basically watched your whole video one sitting. Idk man you're pretty amusing and just keep a good flow. I hope the channel stays on the up n' up.
Love seeing the kid with ya man. Him on that red Pontiac, you could see his concentration to "feather it" as you were saying. Reminds me of my Dad talking to me with my 1975 Triumph TR7 when I was 14. To hear that thing run and do it with my Dad will stick with me until the day I die. Cheers to you.
You might even be younger than I am at this point but I just want to say I deeply appreciate what you are doing for the hobby by including your son in what you do. The world needs more fathers like you. The younger generations need this type of experience to truly appreciate what it is that we all follow and what you love about the automobile and what it means to true, red white and blue blooded Americans. Thank you for what you do sir, and for the fact that you make what you do publicly viewable
“Feather it, it’s old…junk.” Dalton, 2023. That should be on an t-shirt! Actually, I seem to remember my dad telling me the same thing once upon a time. Quite a life lesson.
From 0:00 to 39:47 {the best part at 34:14 when Dalton says "I bet people would say you can't restore that"....(sips his Busch light with a grin)} I could not stop chuckling and laughing at all the humor thrown in amongst Dalton and J.D. I laughed so hard at the beer swig, LOL Loved seeing the vehicles there. There were points it was hard to keep from laughing it was just absolutely hilarious. It was a treat and just a totally awesome show!! Loved seeing the collab between Junkyard Digs, Angus, and several others. Five Stars!! Cheers!!
Dalton I enjoy how you guys make due and adapt with what you have and you always figure things out. I can see JD being a mechanic when he gets older. I am looking forward to your next video
I worked with a guy whose son in law owned a Pontiac dealership in Countryside, IL. He gave everyone at work the best deal on a Poncho. Like dealer cost. I ordered my 76 LJ with all the options. Deep maroon with gold pinstriping. Padded landau roof, deep pile carpeting, high back velour buckets, corner lights, 400 and 400 turbo, factory duel exhaust and posi rear end. $5,100. Drove it for 17 years. Rusted away on me. I still miss it. Now I'm driving an 05 GP GT that never goes out in the winter. Thanks for the video.
Love what you do and that you include your kid, the world needs more fathers like you. Share and teach the love for old vehicles to younger generations. That's exactly what the hobby and lifestyle needs. Newest technology doesn't mean it's cool. I may question some things that happen on your channel but your content is real and I appreciate you for what you do for the hobby, if nothing else. Keep on keepin on fellow brethren. The car culture we all love and appreciate wouldn't continue to exist if it weren't for folks like yourself.

I remember when these late 70's granprixs were everywhere. Before the minivans and the SUV's, you can bet one in 4 Grandpa's was rocking one of these with all the grandkids in it. That Red one is shockingly good. Hard to find one in the wild not rotted....kind of like the white one, that deserves a final full send. 😉
Man this video caused so many flashbacks to my ill spent youth working in gas stations and garages in the 70's and 80's! Your son is an exceptional young guy!
Thanks brother the Gran Prix's have a place in my heart. I bought a '76 in 1986 for 800 bucks that had a newer 400 in it with I think it was 86 thousand miles on it. It was the radial tuned suspension model if that means anything. I drove it till 2006, and I mean drove it, as it was my only car, then I sold it for 500 bucks and it still ran good. And I'm diggin that shirt bro
You and your son , remind myself and my youngest son. He is 25 and we still do anything car related together , also really dig your shirt. One of the best youtube channels.
You've inspired me to get my butt in gear and get my pontiac running. I just picked it up 2 weeks ago, and she's a beauty. A 57 star chief, and a rare Florida barn find. By the way, SOME of us in the south have all our teeth. Not me, but I'm sure some of do!

Love your show and that boy of yours getting big ! Post script. Please tell me that you bought that GTO. ??????
Great job! As you said, some people would call those cars unrestorable. I know better after watching you channel. What you did with the Silver Dollar Chevy proved that you can always restore something especially if you don't want to enter it into a car show.
I owned a 75 LJ Grand Prix at 16 I loved that car. I always wanted to get a 76 or 77 because they offered them with T-Tops I'm hoping to find one in good shape one of these days. Seeing those old GP's brings back a lot of great memories. Love your videos keep up the good work...✌
I drove a 1977 Grand Prix in the mid 1980's. It had a 350-4 barrel motor with a turbo 400 transmission. It had good power considering the compression was 7.6:1. It was great that you managed to have one run and drive for you! A 400-4 barrel would be a great motor for the new GTO project!
My brother had an old Grand Prix, that got wrecked, pulled the 400 out and put it in his 70 Le Mans! Love Pontiacs! (Okay, I love them all, GM, Ford, Mopar... 70's and older, ya just cant beat 'em!)
In 1976 ,when i was 10 years old my dad rented a brand new Grand Prix. It was silver with a black landau top and black swivel bucket seats. That thing was super cool!😎👍
I would like to se you try and get that old ford van running. I really enjoy your videos, Its good good yout teaching your son to work on old cars and understand how they work.Keep up the great work.
Hi Dalton my name is James I so love what you do and you having your son help you is wonderful reminds me of when I was young. I started at 9yrs old working on cars with my father up until he passed in in 2013. I got my son working on cars with me at a young age to now he is older he is a certified mechanic and works for a dealership so thanks for your content.
We sold a couple of our go karts and got a 1984 gmc s15. Jon just drove it last night, he is 10, first car he ever drove. 2.8l v6 has partial floor delete. Put a new rad in last night. Runs pretty good.
This is an awesome video. This would be something I would love to share with my son if I had one. Lord knows I wish I had a father to work on cars with growing up.
How old is JD? He seems very knowledgeable when it comes to cars repairs and I’ll finish work in the vehicles. Awesome! I love it when he says, “oh right where the battery goes. “And also when he says, “ooo wee! “

Paint it with that leftover black from the Chevy truck you did. Go bad ass with it. I mean use the good self tapers when you replace that floor pan.
I'm Mopar. It's in my DNA. My grandfather built the engines for the local circle track boys. My first vehicles were all Mopar. Then I met a 5' 10 " auburn haired Playboy # 11 beauty with a 67 California 326 blue Firebird. I loathed GM, but the more I learned about Pontiac the more I felt a kindred spirit with my rebellious spirit. There's not enough left to tell the story of what I built for her here. It never entered a show that it didn't win. I'm torn to this day between my Mopar and Poncho beginnings. You sir have a fan for life. Back in the 80s you couldn't say an engine code that I didn't know where it came from. Funny how I have to watch Uncle Tony to see what I don't know about Mopar.
Love this episode and can’t wait to see the farm goat revived. Farm goat, barnyard goat, field goat, pasture goat, I don’t know. Nothing has quite the ring as Holey Goat. Still, can’t wait!!
My first car was a worn out 1977 grand prix bench seat colum shift 301 and loved that thing all the way up until the car got totaled smashed while parked great video
