Loathe - I Let It In and It Took Everything Cover

- So happy to finally cover this iconic song by #Loathe !!! This one is definitely my favorite off the record. I actually played bass on here too but didn't have enough time to film it.
...Also this cover actually took way longer than I'd like to admit. Figuring out how to even get to this tuning was a challenge in itself. In short I used a D'addario NYXL 8 string set and left off the high string. The lowest gauge on there is an .080 and EVEN THEN hitting that low C sharp was pretty wobbly on my 27" neck.
Trying to nail this monster tone was also real fun. If there's enough interest I can export my Gojira preset (which was pretty much the 'Drop E' George Lever preset lol), but a lot of this sound came from Izotope Neutron Transient Shaper + Tone Sculptor to add punch and clarity.

Cmiiw, i think the guitarist (Connor) put a .105 on his 27" tele for the low C#, anyway, great stuff dude!!
That is some crazy thick gauge! dude idk if that would even fit the nut or go through the body on my guitar at all LOL
They recorded the whole album on Erik's baritone jazzmaster iirc
@@sahinlandman4667 yes, i believe so too or that danelectro baritone, but i'm referring to connor's guitar that he used in download fest, since both the tele and epichicken's guitar are 27"

I finally got my first seven string and been wanting to at last cover this song since my guitar is equipped with an Evertune (giving me possibilities for much lower tunings). Bro, in detail, what are your settings for Archetype: Gojira? Also I fucking love your cover. Same goes for me on how sentimental this album is for me. I’m glad things are better for you m8. 🫶🏼

Keep in mind tho there was a lot of EQ n stuff I had to do to get it to sit well over the existing mix! Biggest post fx thing was a transient shaper. I feel like it really distinguished the guitars.

whats the effect used in the intro for the clean guitar?
pretty much just chorus delay and reverb. I used the "Loathe - Erik Multi-Oct" preset on Archetype Gojira and probably tweaked it a lil.
Planning on getting the same set of strings for Drop E tuning. Should be very doable, I guess.

How d'you get a 7-string tune down double low E octave? Thicker string gauge?
heya thanks so much! i outlined some of my process in the description but yes definitely heavier gauges. This is also a 27” scale length ibanez so that helped a ton as well! it was still super floppy tho lol
How did you detune it using the Gojira VST buddy?
I think it was the first pedal you set it 100% wet and adjust the pedal position for - semitones on the fatso mode
