It's great to hear you say "we" and not "they" when referring to the band. A lot of the techs and front of house etc don't get the appreciation they deserve to get the show going. Keep doing what you're doing dude! love to see it.
This is why I love getting smaller channels recommended: it's just the real stuff. Very interesting technically and also interesting on a personal level. Hope this channel gets the attention it deserves!
Dang man... Loathe has quickly become one of my favorite bands. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous! haha. Glad you got the opportunity to work with them.
I've known Feisal since we were teenagers, basically - we used to go to the same gigs a lot in Cardiff back when we both lived in Wales. Loathe are such a cool band, and it's really cool that you've documented what it's like to work with them on tour.
As someone who has also had crazy experiences within the music industry through university networking, I truly appreciate you sharing your story. You are also very humble about this and deserve whatever else this leads to! Keep it up and being authentic!
Absolutely wild seeing you pull out that strat at the end! I remember that one distinctly from when Loathe toured the US last winter and I saw them in FL, Erik pulled that one out for Screaming and it's such a distinct tone and vibe that it really made the song special live. What a stand up guy letting you take it home! Erik and the rest of the Loathe crew are some of the nicest dudes working today and I'm glad that you got to participate in such a once in a lifetime opportunity!
That's an awesome gig, dude! I was hoping if you could maybe answer a couple of questions: 1. in terms of string gauges, what does Erik mainly use for each of his guitars? 2. tuning! I've read a lot about it online but never really got a definitive answer. What tunings do they mainly use and for which songs? Appreciate it, my man. Keep putting out good content, you just got one more faceless subscriber. Cheers!
cannot believe you own the same strat that i saw erik playing live haha, thank you so much for this vid. extremely informative to someone whos never been on tour in this context
Amazing retelling of the experience! I've got experience in production working as a Stage Manager Assistant in a quite big festival, and I know things can get super chaotic and try to help guys out as much as possible. I would also LOVE guitar tech-ing for some band, I think that it's a way of living live shows in a way that combines my love for guitar and live music, but I'm still lerning to set up my own stuff, and I deffinetly don't know anything about racks lol
I’d love to hear you talk about the setup and work you were doing for the guitars and bass. I feel like you’d be able to speak about some interesting points on the how they like their gear set along with tips you’ve learnt and a lil but of geeking out over the gear lol
Ah so youre the guy stood with erik at radar fest, i'm the drummer who had the random jam with him. You had a big smile on your face dude, could tell you were buzzing to be there. keep killin it
Dont feel bad for that Wembley thing, the same thing happened to Erik when Loathe played in Silver Spring, MD (I was there and it was really unfortunate, I was there for Loathe and Periphery) They only half played Gored, the guitar never actually came to life, same issue happened on Phily on december 2022, it looks like Hiwatt has some issues, i dont know. Great video.
I should’ve clarified in the video that it was actually the pedalboard that was acting up! Which was why I did the refurb on his pedalboard during the preproduction
Bro i was at the sliver spring show too and i cried. But got to meet erik so that made the show better. Really cool dude and was fun talking about music.
SHOUT OUT OUTBREAK WHOOP WHOOP, first time crowd surfing, can see myself a few times climbing up on the official video :) very envious you got an opportunity like this, always had in mind to be a guitar tech throughout my music degree but did mine in the asshole end of nowhere, so missed out on networking and making connections, which is evidently important ^
As a sound guy, primarily in corporate world moreso than for bands, although I would love to do more band stuff, just have made more connections in that side of the industry over the years. Anyways, the thing I learned quickly is that you have to roll with the punches and not freak out when there's an issue. A lot can and will go wrong and it will never seem to be the same issue everytime, but over time those experiences really shape your ability to troubleshoot and just makes everything easier in the long run
erik taught you Screaming? or where did u learn that amazing song btw an strat making very heavy sounds WOW Loathe and erik's strat is the reason i bought one a few days ago
Really amazing! One question though, I know that Connor used to play Subzero Rogue VI as a baritone guitar... What's with those Subzero's? Are they being used by Loathe when they're not on stage, because you clearly said what they use onstage. Also, can you tell me more about the string gauge and tuning on the Gretch Baritone? Thanks in advance! Nice vid!
Any considerations that goes into setups, tunings, pedal or amp settings for a band that essentially has two bass players? Fender should make a signature model PJ bass with gold pickguard, just sayin'.
i was at the outbreak show, such an incredible show!! i dont know if you'll remember, but after is it really you? played, kadeem hugged someone. that was me, so i guess outbreak is something special for both of us also: super dope you got that stratocaster, what model is it? if you know: i'd love to find out, super beautiful guitar!! haha!
Man this is so sick I'm glad you got this chance. Quick question, what string gauge Erik uses on the strat for screaming? I've wanted to learn that song for a while but I'm not sure if I can get the tunning on a standard scale guitar.
Ok cool. You got your music degree. How much did they pay you is the real question peeps want to know? Guitar tech. It’s obvious you will never be a rock star. So how much did do you make with a gig like that and how often do you get to do something like that?
@@saamo1423 yes I have a way with words. The point remains though. We need guitar techs and things get messed up sometimes. But with his connections is how he got the job, is also important not every music graduate knows a guy who can get you in on tour with a mainline band. It would be hard to make a living is my point.
Still surreal Loathe got to tour with you 🫡
Hahaha it's true!!! In excited to see what Ryan does next! 🎉
It's great to hear you say "we" and not "they" when referring to the band. A lot of the techs and front of house etc don't get the appreciation they deserve to get the show going. Keep doing what you're doing dude! love to see it.

I really enjoyed your video here man. Very informative. You’re a talented guy and I’m subscribing for more, dood.
I was tech-ing for BOO on the alter stage. Definitely remember seeing you backstage. Congrats on your first tour being successful.
Dang man... Loathe has quickly become one of my favorite bands. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous! haha. Glad you got the opportunity to work with them.
I am Asian and I love LOATHE so fricking much! Good for u to have a tour with them.

Thank you man! It was incredibly fun!
Lucky you! I love LOATHE! That's reall cool that you had such an opportuntiy!
I also got to run merch for Loathe for the first time ever at Tech Fest! Keep achieving your goals man well done

Great video man, really nice insights
And thank you for sharing the more personal side at the end, rare we get to hear that kind of stuff
I would love to hear how Erik gets his tone from his HiWatts. Does he run an Axe Fx into the Power Amp or does he plug into the front?
caught the Munich show on this tour. love the insight you're giving

A quick question regarding the Strat. I imagine some alterations must have been done to it? What pickups is installed in it?
I tour as FOH for an artist. It’s a great gig bro. But being away from your loved ones is definitely the hardest part. Thanks for the video.

Who you know gets you the opportunity, but what you know lets you secure and capitalize on the opportunity. So both are essential.

Erik doesn't use the subzero, just the gretch baritone.

Ha! Nice I was hangin out Stage Left at Hellfest while Loathe was playin. I play in Pro-Pain. 🤘🏼😜
I got to meet them and omg they’re the nicest dudes ever!
what strings are erik using for the baritone, i have the same kind of gretsch and have been wondering this for a while
He uses a 105 bass string on the lowest string, and a 14-68 set and discarding the 14 for the other 5 strings
@@RaynP how were you able to fit it through the bridge

Sweet video! How is the axe fx 3 incorporated into rig? Is it just for effects or are any of the fractal amps used?
The axefx pretty much does most of the heavy lifting for the tones, running amps and effects
