Every drummer needs to watch this. Inevitably we will find ourselves in situations where we need to set up and tear down fast. Having a system that achieves speed without compromising our gear is a must. Thanks for posting this.
Man.. as a small time cover band drummer, this is the best content ever. Thanks for taking the time to document it for us while you're already busy af. Some great tips on drum care and tuning too!
I would love to see a designated video about all the little tips / tricks / gear you use and recommend. It’s really interesting seeing your set up process for big shows like these. As a working drummer myself I love learning more efficient ways to set up and play since I don’t have a great crew like this. Keep up the great work!!
These videos are very cathartic and engaging for me. Having been a gigging drummer before, watching an expert go about their work is inspiring, but also provides an interesting sense of comfort and companionship in seeing someone else go through setting up and tearing down a kit. And, of course, nerding out over drum gear! Thank you for the work that goes into what you do, and these videos!
I thought you were ignoring the cymbal angles then I looked up a video of the guy and wow! He seems to have some Daru Jones inspiration on his cymbals!
Really love the limited cuts. Not usually a fan of voice over narration with a lot of cuts I enjoy just watching you do your thing I learn so much so thank you
"CHEERS" bro. I just knew your videos and I'm watching all. I'm from Brazil, I love drums, but you brough a new way to enjoy the instrument. All that routine, the way you cara and do the job is incredible. Congrats Bro, I'm loving it!!!
Watched for about 15 minutes wondering why you stopped with the CC only to realize I turned it off. Immediately started from the beginning again and was not a bit disappointed in my choice. Great videos thanks for taking the time!
cheers! As a tribute band drummer for over 25 years, watching this gives me a new perspective on stagehand and tech work. amazing stuff you guys do there.
Cheers from a small city in the extreme north of Brazil. Love your content, lad! Keep it up. I am a Church drummer and i am learning so much with your videos. So much professionalism.
I'm not even a drummer... I just watch these to relax. However... I've subconsciously been learning how to better set, mic up, and look after drums. Thanks for making these!
I just love these videos, Matt! Your knowledge and attention to detail is bar none! Thanks for making these videos and showing us what life is like as a drum tech.
Great video! "Cheers" lol I love setting up drums when I tech so anyone can set them up. When I play, I use a rack system and locks so everything stays where it belongs. Stay safe out there. Maybe I'll see you on the road.
I work in production for a 500 cap theatre in CT. I am such a big fan of these videos because it always reminds me of what GREAT techs/crew looks like. To the point, no nonsense, handles everything thrown at them.
the immersion is for real!!!! im like....in goo goo gaa gaa land right now....youre a legend dude...i LOVE these behind the scenes vids lie this...such an inside look....and as a bass player and a passion for engineering and setup and the tech side of things...this is really an eyegasm
What a well captioned, cleanly edited, and easy to understand video. Really awesome wealth of info here, thanks for making this!! That midi controller on the roll out drawer is a super cool feature. Cheers!
I can't believe I just watched two back to back drum tech videos, for a total of almost two hours . . . and was glued to every damn second. I even rewound them *numerous* times whenever I saw something nifty that I needed to remember for my own setup. I should have taken notes. (Branden Steineckert built a block/backstop thing for the front of his riser so the bass drum would stop trying to escape, ha.)
Excellent work Matt! As a pro drummer it's always nice to look for clever tips, tricks and methods I could utilize with my own equipment. The side snare is a Tama S.L.P. Fat Spruce 14"x6". It's a killer drum and pretty versatile.
I can't be thankful enough for this videos! Not only are they amazing and very well put together, but so helpful! I'm learning lots of things I ignored as a drummer thanks to you! Keep up the great work!
This is so awesome to watch. One day if I’m not drumming, I’ll be more than happy having the opportunity to be a drum tech. Love the videos man, much respect for what you do
Cheers! You’re so meticulous with how you do things. It’s awesome to see someone that just cares deeply about doing a good job. Looking forward to more vids like this and content more about the business side of teching.
I really enjoy those kind of vlogs and I love to see all bands appreciating the passion and hard work you put in to support them the best way you can. Keep it up Matt, love to see more from this! Greetings from Germany.
Love these videos and bring me a lot of questions about your job, maybe someday you could answer some doubts, anyway, amazing work!!! Cheers from Madrid, Spain!!!!
CHEERS Matt! Awesome vids, love your content! Thanks for sharing your POV! It’s so eye opening for those of us that always wondered how the musicians we love prepare for a show, and to see all the work put in by the awesome techs and hands that work behind the scenes to make it all happen! Looking forward to seeing more great vids like this, hopefully from your A7X tour!!!
Love it Matt. I always pick up little tricks from your tech videos. I’ve never truly been in a position to be a drum tech, nor needed one myself as I’ve always mainly played in bar bands. That’s slowly changing? I’ve been playing with Rick Redington in Vermont for 6 months . Very cool guy. Great music and vibe. He’s been on the map for a long time now. I sent your last tech video to a friend that’s my tech in training. He will get this one as well. He isn’t a musician what so ever, but has a very deep application for music. He’s very mechanical and detail oriented. I won’t need him often but I’m getting him dialed in. Have three shows coming up with three bands in two states in two days. This guy will be MVP. I have a Face Page, Osborn Percussion if you care to follow.
Recently found ur channel and absolutely loving it dude! It’s awesome to get such an intimate insight into the pro world and to see ur commitment and dedication to what u do. Cheers.
I absolutely love watching these videos! They are such an inspiration to me as a drummer! It really helps me to understand all of the different aspects of setting up different configurations of drum kits and a live performance! Thank you so much Matt for making these videos! You are amazing!!🤘🤘
You were on point with the idea of making videos like this my man! This shit is gonna blow up. I watched it start to finish & Im sure I’ll do the same with any other vids you post. Cheers to “The Road Crew” 🤟😄🤘
I leave for the Avenged Sevenfold tour tomorrow! Make sure to subscribe to see more behind the scenes drum tech videos!
I´m loving these videos man! Cheers from Brazil!
Now I have Rock With You stuck in my head. Kit sounded great, and nice to see folks digging die cast!
@@SaucyOperator My drummer always do Rock With You on soundcheck, gonna ask the band to learn the song
No way dude. That's awesome. Sweet vid bruh

It's very cool to see the respect their drummer showed you.

Thanks for posting this.
Absolutely, I’ve been playing and giging for 30 + years and have learned and are using things I’ve seen just watching a couple of Matt’s videos.
Memory locks are 100% the most critical piece of gear. It's mind bottling to me to see them using gaff tape. Hopefully that is temporary.
Man.. as a small time cover band drummer, this is the best content ever. Thanks for taking the time to document it for us while you're already busy af. Some great tips on drum care and tuning too!
Your tech series is like unboxing videos on steroids. I’m addicted dude. I feel like I missed my calling watching these. Keep kicking ass. 🤘🏻
Sleeping with sirens?
Edit 5 minutes later: I guessed the name before the drum head. lol
I saw the SWS labels in the trailer.
