I trade for him just in case I don't have one of the top 5 picks. He grew into a 89 overall beast until he requested to be traded at 32 years old. Sad day.
What a steal for the Leafs. When he dropped from the top 15, I was hoping he would go to The Oilers. But good pick up for the Leafs, I'm excited to see how he plays out
Nuge PvP Yamamoto is going to be a steal too, he's undervalued because of his size but he's smart, skilled, and insanely athletic. I think he probably should have gone top 10
I wanted the Leafs to tank again last season so we could draft Liljegren 2nd or 3rd overall, and then we had an incredible year, made the playoffs and he then he kinds just fell in our lap. Remember when it seemed like this team could NEVER catch a break and nothing good ever happaned for us? GOD I LOVE THIS TEAM! It feels sooooo good to say that again
wow. your old room is what really got me man. i remember the old times. from your very first video. somehow i started watching when you started. pure luck. so nice to see this room where everything began.
Detroit had every reason to pick Liljegren and they didn't do it 😓 I don't understand Ken Holland. I knew Toronto was gonna be good, but now they're gonna be even better. Congrats guys, win a cup already
i wasnt sure what to expect from the red wings since they havent drafted in the top 10 since 1991 so they are noobs at this kinda thing lmao but i have no idea what they were thinking with that pick, the kids highlight reel is all tip in goals, lots of scouts said he doesnt look like he creates anything offensively at all but more relies on others to, which as a center...is kind of the opposite of what you want...but hey, you guys are known for finding diamonds in the rough in drafts so maybe they see something i dont lol
yeah for sure, i agree he wouldve prob been the better pick, but i guess we will have to wait and see. i hope he pans out though, my fav games to watch are the red wings vs leafs so i want you guys to be speedy on the rebuild so our games are competitive! lol fucking hell of a series we've had the past few years, i want it to continue so dont draft busts for fuck sakes! lmao
Coach Hines Hopefully we dont but we have a goof of a gm so it might be awhile 😂but yeah I hope the wings and leafs will play eachother in the playoffs, that would be sick
All Pro it's an internet saying u fucking moron. I can say whatever I want to say so u can stfu and leave the internet if u don't want to hear it. Jeez man, u make me "triggered af"😂😂😂
ive been watching ur videos for 5 years oh my god. i came by one of ur videos by chance and i was like who is this guy. ever since that video, ive been watching u
I had mono, it kills you, it lasts for months. Even after it's cured. It takes a while to get back to form. Especially in sports. I couldn't play my best hockey for at least 4 months
Morgan Rielly missed playing the majority of his draft year due to injury. He dropped to 5. I remember watching that draft and how the TSN guys said had he been fully healthy, Rielly could have been picked higher than 5. I believe (and so do many amateur scouts) that hes the most talented Dman in the draft and hopefully he gets proper development.
I'm a Sarnia Sting fan, And McGregor was a solid pick in the 6th Round. He got an injury at the end of last year and didn't get to train in the off season so he didn't progress much. Very smart player, works super hard as well.
2019 Stanley Cup Champions: Toronto Maple Leafs Norris: Liljegren Art Ross: Matthews Hart: Marner Rocket: Nylander Jack adams: Babcock Conn Smythe: Tavares
I.... have never been so excited. Next season will pretty much be the same, as these new guys spend another year working on their play, but the year after? And the year after that? Oooooh my god
St. Andrews College is one of those posh private schools in the GTA, like Upper Canada College, Crescent, Bishop Strachan, Havergal, Branksome Hall, etc.
I remember when Angelo Esposito fell to the Penguins in 2007. Everyone was so excited because he looked like such a steal. And then he sucked and everyone was pissed. The end
Still, people assumed Esposito was only mediocre one season because he had a bad knee, but it messed up his development. A year of mediocre play and illness could have had an effect on Liljegren. I'm not saying it will, I'm just saying it can be compared to Esposito. Both fell for poor seasons, both had injury or illness related reasons as to why their seasons were poor, both might have been hampered from reaching their full potential because an important year for development was hurt by them playing not at 100%. We'll see what happens, but Esposito was an incredible player, as is Liljegren now. It can happen again, even if every detail isn't the exact same.
CJP1993 well he’s just had a solid year as an 18 year old in the AHL and looks to be a solid player maybe not next year but in a few years once he develops a bit.
Usually when a player falls in the draft there's a reason for that and its usual that the player who drops doesn't make teams regret not picking him earlier in the draft.
And Lou announces....that Hunter going to announce it! Then why doesn't Hunter just walk up first!? Everyone knows who you are Lou. Love the Liljegren pick. Just love it. There are risks sure, but yeah I think the mono was a big issue. Plus (some) of the Swedish teams he was on weren't very good. And bouncing around between teams isn't conducive to getting comfortable again after having the life sucked out of you by mono. We know that in terms of development it's not helpful to bounce a guy between leagues. Until proven otherwise, I choose to be hyped. Give him a healthy year in Sweden and he'll be showing why he should have gone so much higher. The other picks? We'll see. I tend to agree that size is almost a negative now for drafting. "Oh god he's big, he's gonna suck." I don't know the big guys we drafted are going to be good, I don't know they are going to suck. I do know the Leafs feel there is a balance to be found with roster building. That you need all sorts of players for a winning formula. They went out and got all sorts. Speedy and skilled D? Got it. Giants? Got them. Goalie? Got one. Mystery Russian pick? They went there. This was an interesting batch. But sadly we won't know how good or bad a draft this is....for a few years.
Ian Scott is an amazing guy. Never got to play with him but saw him play a lot and he's clutch in tough situations. Let him develop for another 2 years ish and he'll be golden
From what I've read, he made his season debut late last year (November) due to the mono, but he probably rushed back before he was full strength because 'DRAFT YEAR'! Honestly, never going to understand fans that grumble when players don't play due to 'flu-like symptoms' or mono. People can't even handle sitting at a desk job when they're sick with that, never mind playing in a high-energy pro-sports game!
rbrucerye he makes a lot of bonehead plays I think he should be converted to a winger his offensive upside is insane and you can be less defensively responsible as a winger and have the freedom to push up it’s a shame as the leafs could use a defenseman but he could be a force as a winger and even be trade bate if he has a good AHL season as a winger to bring in a d man
St. Andrews college is a private boarding middle/high school in aurora Ontario north of Toronto. It's for stupidly rich and snobby people and they have a huge private arena on campus.
I had Mono in the Fall of 1989 ...6 weeks on my couch and not right for a couple months after that. Not great for an athlete to get in their draft year
I love looking back at this because Liljegren is very bad in the AHL and regressing in his 2nd season. Meanwhile guys around him are making the NHL already or atleast blowing out the AHL. This proves that drafting a guy who was awful in his draft season is a bad idea. Look at Liljegren, Look at Nolan Patrick. Same thing happens.
You're not bad at this Nordic pronunciation business! It's Lil-yeh-grehn, and you got Räsänen pretty spot on except the first sound in Eemeli is a longer "eh" rather than "ee". (you get cool points if you pronounce 'ä's like in cat, like you started to in the second try. )
Roses are red
Matthews is a Leaf
We made the Playoffs this season
And we still got Liljegren at 17th!
I rate the effort
Ron Thompson lol true
Roses are red,

Heiskanen is better,
Pettersson is too.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
The Leafs suck
And Liljegren does too
@@aw4516😂 good one

Ichimar486 Same
Liljegren always goes top 3 in everyone's GM mode nhl 17
Eric Vagina Nice name.
I trade for him just in case I don't have one of the top 5 picks. He grew into a 89 overall beast until he requested to be traded at 32 years old. Sad day.
What a steal for the Leafs. When he dropped from the top 15, I was hoping he would go to The Oilers. But good pick up for the Leafs, I'm excited to see how he plays out
Nuge PvP I love respectable fans from other teams. Respect 👌🏼
Nuge PvP Yamamoto is going to be a steal too, he's undervalued because of his size but he's smart, skilled, and insanely athletic. I think he probably should have gone top 10
Yamamoto is the most talented player in the draft. If he were 6'1 he would have been #1 overall.
I wanted the Leafs to tank again last season so we could draft Liljegren 2nd or 3rd overall, and then we had an incredible year, made the playoffs and he then he kinds just fell in our lap. @@DeAngelo77 lol That's enough, over there
@@DeAngelo77 he’s so fucking good
I'm pretty sure the leafs just did a draft in nhl 17 and took all those players cus Liljegren, Rasanen, and Scott are all beasts in that game
Bryce Caimi haha lol
Erik Karlsson was drafted 15th overalll...... just sayin
OMG I remember that room! I started watching when I was in grade 8. I graduated highschool now!
Anyone else have been waiting for this all day?
Wow Steve. That Hornqvist/Neal comment. That one hurt. That one hurt bad.
True Illuminati shit, The Leafs gave Liljegren mono so he would slip.
One of Lou's boys gave him his "flu shot".
"Hey, why does that nurse have tattoos and a beard?"
Was really surprised he dropped, definitely a top 5 talent in this year's draft
wow. your old room is what really got me man. i remember the old times. from your very first video. somehow i started watching when you started. pure luck. so nice to see this room where everything began.
Anybody here that guy from the Canadiens that said " it's so cool being drafted like an organization like torn I mean Montreal
Ha it was pretty funny
The leafs pick liljegren and the wings pick the second coming of Tomas Holmstrom. Fml
Trev Wings Too bad he will never come close to holmstrom :/
Trev Wings I was hoping for us to pick Liljegren or Suzuki
Andrew J Or anyone else 😂
AndrewYeah I fully trust Holland but I was also hoping for Liljegren
I really wanted Liljegren as a Wings fan but Rasmussen isn't that bad. I'm making a video on him and the draft soon
What about Sebastian Aho I didn't even realize he was still available this year and the Islanders stole him
AND NO THIS ISN'T THE ONE FROM CAROLINA

Which one 😂

I remember when Angelo Esposito fell to the Penguins in 2007. Everyone was so excited because he looked like such a steal. And then he sucked and everyone was pissed. The end
CJP1993 not really comparable
It was for the same reason though, buddy was battling through something if I remember correctly, I think a knee injury.
liljegren had mono not a knee injury
Still, people assumed Esposito was only mediocre one season because he had a bad knee, but it messed up his development. A year of mediocre play and illness could have had an effect on Liljegren. 2:14 I’ve had like 2 hockey teammates get mono in the past week. Send help (also that pray was hilarious)
God damnit Steve you had to do this now; I have to work tomorrow morning.
The bigger reason why he fell is that many teams were concerned about his hockey IQ. Mono wasn't as big of a factor.
rbrucerye he makes a lot of bonehead plays I think he should be converted to a winger his offensive upside is insane and you can be less defensively responsible as a winger and have the freedom to push up it’s a shame as the leafs could use a defenseman but he could be a force as a winger and even be trade bate if he has a good AHL season as a winger to bring in a d man

This proves that drafting a guy who was awful in his draft season is a bad idea. Look at Liljegren, Look at Nolan Patrick. Same thing happens.
At least Patrick is still an NHL player, even if not worthy of a 2nd overall pick. Lilijegren got demoted to the ECHL.
Lol, when you judge too early. What were you thinking? Hes a defenseman, not uncommon for them to take a while.
