It's amazing to see these again with how skilled the NHL has become. It really highlights just how good Datsyuk was even compared to the young puck wizards that have entered the league recently. I'd love to see more player highlights from previous NHL generations.
Was never a fan hockey . This guy sole reason i got into watching hockey . This guy made it look like an ART. This guy is the reason i became a red wings fan. This guy is the ONLY player in NHL i keep going back to for highlights. While he was active in NHL i wish i had watched more LIVE games... What a absolute BEAST

He is my favorite player of all time and I’m so lucky to have had him play on my hometown Detroit Red Wings. We may never see a player so ahead of his time like Datsyuk was
@JohnSilvershtein I love hockey but it's so inaccessibly and impractical for so many people/countries. All that gear, needing a rink etc, then compared it to soccer you can just grab a ball and start a game anywhere. But I've always love ice hockey because it combines strength, speed and skill, no goal scoring sport is as fast as ice hockey.
I'm from Moscow, McDavid is also a great player. Kucherov, McDavid, McKinnon and Ovechkin will also be there
There's a single player you'd want on the ice with 10 seconds or less to win a game. THIS MAN! He's the master of creating space for himself and/or teammates. Get open, he's finding you, no matter what. If he's got a shot, he's scoring, guaranteed.
that move he did against the sharks that led two teammates to collide is the silkiest move ever, everything about that is so graceful, was he millisecond late on that play he would get crushed. not only he avoids Grier as smooth as possible but also taps the puck to get a separation to pick up the speed, all the while leaves shark mess behind him. all in mere seconds
Datsyuk dangles like the greatest angler and goalies take the bait every time. He is the GOAT in creativity forget Gretzky. Believe me we know how blessed we were to enjoy this brilliance. ❤From Detroit
"Forget Gretzky" is such a dumb thing to say when giving props to Datsyuk. It's clear you're a child who hasn't learned that you can't compare what Richard and Howe did in the 40's and 50's to what Orr and Lafleur did in the 60's and 70's, to what Gretzky and Lemieux did in the 80's and 90's, to what Datsyuk Crosby and Ovi did in the 2000's-2010's, and to what McDavid's been doing the last 5 - 6 years. And if you want to talk about creativity... Nobody since Gretzky has been able to consistently make passes off the side of the net to someone in the slot resulting into goals. Not even Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby, Datsyuk, or McDavid has done this. So, calm your prepubescent tits down and learn to appreciate greatness, regardless of the era... You'll be a better hockey fan for it.
I was at the game against Calgary where he assisted on Zetterberg's game tying goal with 3 seconds to play. Lidstrom ended up getting wide open in the slot and buried a backhander around a swimming Kiprusoff to win that game 5-4 in OT. To this day it's my favorite game I've ever attended, and that includes some playoff games as well. Thank you for including that one in this highlight reel.
He really was special. No doubt he was born to play hockey. His handle of the puck is legendary and god forbid he gets a clear shot at the net. Pure goal scorer.
@PavelDatsyuk-ui4qv For all his crazy gifts, his shot was just average. There must've been six or seven goals in this reel where the puck goes in mostly because the goalie is totally discombobulated by the move(s) that preceded the shot.
My favorite red wing player of all time. I miss these days. Not only was he a master at stick handling, opening plays, scoring, but also passing. He was so modest. He could have a wide open shot and still pass if he thought it increased odds of scoring. RIP red wings.

Just an unreal player sent by the gods themselves. Pure wizardry. There’s some goals in here I haven’t seen somehow so thank you for that. Thought I’d seen all his highlights 100 times over. There’s a goal against San Jose where Pav goes backhand top shelf to the far side outside the face off dot and it’s just absurd.
I honestly loved watching Datsyuk and didn't miss a game. When he paid respect to Federov and the inspiration he got I knew he was a gem. Federov was an honest heart trophy winner and deserved every bit of it. Datsyuk reminds me of Federov and is almost as good.

The city of Detroit were lucky to have 2 of the most elusive and exciting athletes of all time- Barry Sanders in football, and Pavel Datsyuk in hockey. 🔥
i was at the shootout goal game vs chicago, the one at 0:24 and i have to say there was a half second where know one knew it was a goal, but granted i was in the upper bowl and it was joe louis arena and when the red light came on the place went nuts
For the longest time I thought I was a "hockey fan" - but as I sit here watching Dasyuk highlight videos over and over I've come to the realization that I was really mainly a - "Datsyuk fan." : )
Everyone always talks about his stick handling, which was elite, but not enough praise goes to the way he could skate and maneuver his body. So many of these just highlight how the little turn of his skate meant that he was in a completely different space than the defender thought he'd be.
4:05 is the most memorable Datsyuk goal for me. Watching that live was incredible. Datsyuk would so often put the whole team on his back to win the game. He deked all 5 Nashville players. This goal gave us the tie game, we would go on to win it too. I watched this highlight so many times. Nobody could deke and dangle like the Magic Man.
I appreciate you including plays even when there wasn't a goal. When he played, I could always watch the goals/assists later but would try to watch live because his so much of his play wouldn't be included in highlight recaps (if there wasn't a goal).
2:08 was my first NHL game as a kid, Wings Vs Flames. Mom wanted to leave to beat traffic cause it looked like a loss for us, but I wanted to stay so bad cause it was my first. Glad we did, if I remember right, we won 5-4 in OT that game. and got to see the magic man work his magic.
Growing up watching this man play this beautiful game is something ill remember forever. Witnessed him many times live and winning a cup in his rookie season in 2002. Still have the ticket stub.
I've been a Wings fan since 96 and while I loved all the winning we did in the Yzerman era, I would watch games literally *just* for Datsyuk. The Dats/Zetterberg era was just so fun.
I did this video a while back and decided to redo it, I hope you guys enjoyed it!
It's amazing to see these again with how skilled the NHL has become. It really highlights just how good Datsyuk was even compared to the young puck wizards that have entered the league recently. I'd love to see more player highlights from previous NHL generations.

The best skill player in NHL history. Period.

Never gets old. A once-in-a-lifetime player.
@JohnSilvershtein❤
Some of these are so filthy that RUclips's gonna age-restrict this video
Greatest talent ever.
And very modest and kind human being..
PAVEL DATSUYK
Jagr, wayne, mario, kaner, mcdavid and many others clear the two time 30 goal scorer 🥱
There are the pretty danglers then there are the pure goal scorers like Ovie, Mario, Gretz and Matthews.
3 time 30 goal scorer but be wrong lol
@TaylorByers4444 You're too young to understand how good datsyuk was. You can argue he was better than crosby.
We'll never see anyone like him again. Thank you, Pavel.
Even mcdavid isn't even close to his skill
just like barry sanders once in a lifetime players
I'm from Moscow, McDavid is also a great player. Kucherov, McDavid, McKinnon and Ovechkin will also be there
Just imagine if they would have gone to the 3v3 OT during Datsyuk's prime. He would have been so dangerous.
They could've just done 3v1 OT and Datsyuk would still make them all look like clowns.
The single most amazing player I have ever seen play live.
Welcome
I miss the magic man so much.
That's Pavel Datsyuk, HALL OF FAMER, to you
we fans in Detroit were very lucky to have a great team around the Magic Man. Good times.
There's a single player you'd want on the ice with 10 seconds or less to win a game. THIS MAN! He's the master of creating space for himself and/or teammates. Get open, he's finding you, no matter what. If he's got a shot, he's scoring, guaranteed.
He didn’t need to be open. He could deke out a defensive pairing in a phone booth.
Two time 30 goal scorer datsyuk #OverratedGoalScorer
Idc what anyone says but from a purely skills standpoint this man is the best hockey player ever
that move he did against the sharks that led two teammates to collide is the silkiest move ever, everything about that is so graceful, was he millisecond late on that play he would get crushed. not only he avoids Grier as smooth as possible but also taps the puck to get a separation to pick up the speed, all the while leaves shark mess behind him. all in mere seconds

“That was like sorcery” 😂
Congrats, Hall of Famer!
Pavel Datsyuk = Ronaldinho
Datsyuk had and still has the best hands in the league, he was on a different level
One of the most gifted players ever that picked up a hockey stick
To think that he was drafted at 171. It’s insane. Pure talent. 👌🏻❤️
Best I have ever seen with the puck on his stick. Welcome to the Hall of Fame, Pavel.
At some point, it just becomes hilarious.... he's that damn good!!

Pavel had the greatest hands in front of the net. He's one of the best pure scorers to ever play.
I was at the game against Calgary where he assisted on Zetterberg's game tying goal with 3 seconds to play. never yet seen a compilation where the commentators just have to LAUGH so much in utter disbelief and delight
It’s funny how it’s still a highlight when he doesn’t score because he’s still showing so much skill
He really was special. No doubt he was born to play hockey. His handle of the puck is legendary and god forbid he gets a clear shot at the net. Pure goal scorer.
He didn't score very much but definitely born to play
@PavelDatsyuk-ui4qv For all his crazy gifts, his shot was just average. There must've been six or seven goals in this reel where the puck goes in mostly because the goalie is totally discombobulated by the move(s) that preceded the shot.

he's not goal scorer, he's classic central, and top of top central
He could skate around allstar defensemen in a phone booth.
He sure was something special
It's crazy just how much better he was than everyone else.
My favorite red wing player of all time. I miss these days. Not only was he a master at stick handling, opening plays, scoring, but also passing. He was so modest. He could have a wide open shot and still pass if he thought it increased odds of scoring. RIP red wings.

Man it was hard not to tear up watching this. Paval is a legend.
@andrewgonda1371 my ninja, it's a game

I honestly loved watching Datsyuk and didn't miss a game. When he paid respect to Federov and the inspiration he got I knew he was a gem. Federov was an honest heart trophy winner and deserved every bit of it. Datsyuk reminds me of Federov and is almost as good.

My favorite player. Very proud of him and his election to the HHOF.
Pavel Datsyuk
Was so underrated on the skills he had . He and Pavel Bure could change a game in seconds .. pure skill .
No other player has a highlight reel like the great Pavel Datsyuk
Absolutely magical!!❤
The GOAT of dangles 🔥🔥🔥
One of the best but we all know it's McDavid
@mr.devil9577 As an Oilers fan, I feel like Datsyuk has better dangles than McDavid, in my opinion.
"THE MAGICIAN"
He makes it look so easy. I miss him so much man. Best player ever for the best team ever, atleast in my book. Not mention the best commentators in the game. Love Detroit!❤💙
❤🫶🏻👍🏻💪🏻
Love hearing the legendary Ken Daniels calling Datsyuk’s goals
ahhh Datsyuk. "Jack of all trades, master of all"
The city of Detroit were lucky to have 2 of the most elusive and exciting athletes of all time- Barry Sanders in football, and Pavel Datsyuk in hockey. 🔥
God, I love Datsyuk. What a BEAST
Great vid!
The Danny Markov / Datsyuk dangle goal has to be the greatest combo in NHL history.
i was at the shootout goal game vs chicago, the one at 0:24 and i have to say there was a half second where know one knew it was a goal, but granted i was in the upper bowl and it was joe louis arena and when the red light came on the place went nuts

Same here bro! Die-Hard Rangers, but Pavel will ALWAYS be my favorite player of all time.
Everyone always talks about his stick handling, which was elite, but not enough praise goes to the way he could skate and maneuver his body. So many of these just highlight how the little turn of his skate meant that he was in a completely different space than the defender thought he'd be.
My favorite player of all-time. What an honor to have witnessed his time on the ice.
I wasn't into hockey when he was at his absolute peak but I am lucky that I was able to watch this man play when he was in the league
Some Datsyuk dangles are just what the doctor ordered
Imagine playing a team that had both Datsyuk and Lidstrom. They had you coming and going.
Absolutely crazy stickhandling
"datsyuk slows the game to HIS tempo" - he controlled time
Mick chuckling like Santa after every goal is the gift that keeps on giving.
He was magical. That team was magical. Thanks to one of the greatest I ever saw... Man did we LOVE Pavel in Detroit.
4:05 is the most memorable Datsyuk goal for me. Watching that live was incredible. Datsyuk would so often put the whole team on his back to win the game. He deked all 5 Nashville players. This goal gave us the tie game, we would go on to win it too. I watched this highlight so many times. Nobody could deke and dangle like the Magic Man.
sheesh, did the goalie make it out of that ok? looks like his neck got pretty bent up on the side bar there... 😬
@vertsk8er419 lol, yeah that was the incredible Pekka Rinne in net for the preds.
His dekes are marvelous and inventive.
This guy was pure magic never a dull moment
All these years later and nobody scores goals like these anymore. i hope a player like him shows up again some day
This guy absolutely ABUSED the Nashville Predators throughout his career lol
I appreciate you including plays even when there wasn't a goal. When he played, I could always watch the goals/assists later but would try to watch live because his so much of his play wouldn't be included in highlight recaps (if there wasn't a goal).
2:08 was my first NHL game as a kid, Wings Vs Flames. Mom wanted to leave to beat traffic cause it looked like a loss for us, but I wanted to stay so bad cause it was my first. Glad we did, if I remember right, we won 5-4 in OT that game. and got to see the magic man work his magic.
Man what I’d do to get 10 more years of him in a wings uniform
My favorite hockey player of all time
The Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Hull line put fear into the hearts of goalies and defensemen. What a good time to have been a Red Wings fan.
Pavel is the reason I loved hockey to begin with.
So good at dekes he got two players to bite and run into each other. a magician with the puck
Simply amazing..glad I got to see him his whole career..I doubt we ever see the likes of him again!!!
Poetry in motion
My favorite player of all time
Growing up watching this man play this beautiful game is something ill remember forever. Witnessed him many times live and winning a cup in his rookie season in 2002. Still have the ticket stub.
You easily could have made this 3 hours long but I realize you've got other stuff to do
He had the most insane moves He was so much fun to watch.❤
I've been a Wings fan since 96 and while I loved all the winning we did in the Yzerman era, I would watch games literally *just* for Datsyuk. The Dats/Zetterberg era was just so fun.
An absolute wizard offensively and defensively
Rewatching his highlights makes me that much happier to have gotten the commemorative coin on Datsyuk night in November!
Pavel was worth the price of admission alone.
the chip shot after the dangle was cheeky
Blessed to have been a kid watching this man play hockey
Always amazing to see wrists shots going so fast with such little wind up.
They broke the mold with Pavel. One of one.
It was so easy for him to make players look stupid
One of my favorite athletes across all sports. Just an absolute pleasure to watch this man’s entire career.
Met him in 2002 during the Stanley Cup tour in Ekterinburg, Russia and take a some photos
Beauty of Hockey.
For man like him they made the HOF.
He crossed dudes up like he's playing basketball.
