- F1 has seen many incredible rookies in recent history. Oscar Piastri. George Russell. Charles Leclerc. Max Verstappen. And if we go back even further, we have the likes of Hamilton and Alonso, Villeneuve, Schumacher, and many more. However, the hype surrounding Antonelli ahead of the 2025 F1 season might make him the most anticipated rookie in history. In this video, we look into the reasons why and how he might fare next season alongside Russell in Mercedes.

I think he'll be a success. He is smoking Bearman in F2, who we've seen today in Baku is really good, logically he should be good...i hope. The hype around him though, is crazy.
The hype is ridiculous. Just looking at the number of cameraman outside his garage in Monza… the media will be watching his every move. I’m just hoping people go east on him when he inevitably makes some mistakes.

@@relaxedpenny604how? Kimi was 7 tenths faster in qualy and Gabriele only beat Kimi because of the Sprint Race. In the Feature Kimi did a podium even with a bent steering.
love this video. You made many points which I agree with. I think Kimi is just an amazing talent but, yea, as an Italian I get the hype, us Italians are so so so happy that he’s coming to f1 and have high expectations for him but also i think no italian thought that he had lost even a bit of his talent after that crash in fp1 at monza. I don’t think that all this hype is good for him but I can’t wait to see him racing next year.

Its crazy that he is this amount of hyped before he has driven a single race in F1.
And like you, I don’t think that is a good thing. He will make some rookie mistakes and the brainless fickle mob suddenly will turn and state he is overrated.
But Kimi is a fast learner, given time I think he will be great. 😊

Andrea Kimi Antonelli is the greatest talent I have ever seen watching F1 since 2010, Max's hype was nowhere near this because I watched the era live and Max Junior formula wasn't mind boggling to me.
I watched Kimi in 2020 dominate a race and win over 17s after starting 17th in 29 laps ( craziest part is that he didn't even drive full time in the series) also DTM debuted and wins dominated.
I am not sure how true is this but someone from Ferrari simulation department told me the reason they did sign him was because he was faster than Lewis in the simulator race driver.
Also Silverstone 2024 test he was 2 tenths faster after lap 17 than either George or Mick that with twice as much fuel ( he did about 35 laps stint)
Bruh which race was that from 2020? That’s actually ridiculous 😂. Also where’s you get the source about him being quicker than Lewis in the sim? And with regards to the Silverstone 2024 test, I think that was also speculation, since it was a private test.
Max only did f3 and he was in a van amersvoort and won 6 races in a row he was by far the best in that series Kimi for me is right there wid him and Charles and Lewis

@@BMPHF1 It was a middle eastern race and I will look it up since I also have like first chats with Kimi on Insta then so probably sent him a screenshot or something and no not Lewis I am talking about Sebastion and Kimi ( charles had signed by the sim test) in Ferrari simulators, Silverstone test was private but wasn't a single car test and they ran a two car programme which wasn't reported widely but the pictures and garages were used were 2 one for Mick and the other for Kimi and after 2 hours break George did his tyre test and than W13 test run to test few things. BTW these Private tests are never private because Marshals have to be their and also some external health and safety teamsa. BTW you should have mentioned him siting on someone's lap and driving a Lamborghini GT3 at like 9 years old
When he started in F2 this season, i didn’t see the generational talent. But during this season he is rapidly improving. It is clear that he is very good. When he joins F1 next season, he will probably need time to adjust again, just like in F2. He might crash a couple of times to search for the limit he can get away with.
But make no mistake: this kid is coming. And he is fast.
For real. Start to F2 I was really question what the hype was all about. Tbf, he was and has been beating Ollie so there is that. However, others like Aron and Bortoleto were doing better. After Silverstone especially tho, it’s safe to say he’s ready. Let’s see what he can do in the feature race today

These generational talents are hard to come by and Toto was right to snap him up. Now he has to create the right environment for the kid to grow and thrive. He needs to avoid bottling this as he did with Lewis most recently.

Yea they were terrible on Verstappen when he use to crash a lot but Max is mentally strong & doesn’t give af.

Max can brush criticism off very well. Can’t say for certain Kimi has that yet, but at a smaller scale in F2, he has proved doubters wrong. E.g., the sprint race in Silverstone
When Merc cook up a monster car for Kimi, the Italian and German national anthems are gonna dominate the podium like a remix of the Schumi years!

Yeah. Raikkonen’s hype came after a few races in F1 when he really started to prove his worth under pressure. But going into the sport, there were a lot of doubts as to whether he was ready or not. Just like with Antonelli now

No one expect Colapinto is within 0.1 s to Albon in just two weekends. No one can measure 100% right: which driver is better a great driver A or a great driver B of which they are in different cars or in different categories for Kimi vs Russell case.

Yeah it’s hard to measure between categories. Colapinto has surprised me a lot, but glad he’s getting to show how good he is. Hopefully an opportunity will come in the future because he clearly has a lot to offer.
@@BMPHF1 Colapinto is a reminiscent Fabio Quartararo MotoGP. No stellar junior careers because they raced for mid teams. Coming to F1 and MotoGP with bangs. Talent always shine when it matter.
He does still have to beat George, who let’s not forget won F2 and F3 back to back seasons, while beating Lando and Albon and then consistently outperformed the Williams, beat Valterri on his Merc debut and has done very well against Lewis including out qualifying him overall… I think he’s somehow become a bit underrated because he hasn’t been thrashing his teammate, but his teammate is Lewis…

He's currently beating his teammate (who is in his second year in F2 but is talented enough to beat Nico in F1) by 63 points and is 9 positions ahead of him in the championship standings.
This is why Formula 1 requires both a leading team and a supporting team. All rookies should begin with the supporting team, and drivers who fail to advance to the leading team after three sessions should leave F1 to make way for new talent. Similarly, drivers in the leading team who do not secure a win within three years should also depart, as they do not deserve the spot.
