@@rjmathew7303 Everyone is going on about Alonso retiring like they’re Renault bosses or something. Scott Dixon, six(?) time Indycar champion is 46 and was in contention for the championship until the penultimate race of this season. Will Power is Alonso’s age, also multiple champion and was still in it at the last round. It’s not like these guys are hanging around thanks to commercial influence, nostalgia and/or good vibes. They are competitors, like Alonso, like Hamilton, still the cream of the crop against drivers who were just little kids watching them on TV when they were racking up the highest accolades in motorsport. There seems to be this obsession among fans, even their own fans, with them leaving, as if they’re damaging the sport when it’s the damn teams cartel that’s refusing to accept competition. I see many drivers of the younger generations being out of F1 before the two most experienced drivers in F1 history give their swan song. (Magnussen most immediately, Checo before long, Bottas, Ricciardo, Ocon, potentially even Russell and/or Norris. Lance Stroll will be there trying until his mid-50s probably, as the first Nepobaby driver-owner… 🤣🤣)
I geniunely think Max will stay till the end of his contract. He began at Torro Rosso and later went on to win his first WDC in Redbull and will probably call it quits there. His relationship with Marko and GP is probably the only reason keeping him there. Sure things are looking very shaky at the moment with a looming uncertainty of the 2026 regs. But its also a necessary shake up for Redbull as the key figures that left are all seeking better career opportunites and eventually the next generation of engineers and key figures will need to step up to the challenge. Also bro I know you're cooking with the edits but its getting abit out of hand the amount of inserts while trying to make a point.
Got you. I’ll take that on board for the future. If Max sees out his contract, then that’ll be some serious loyalty shown. That said, I think it would benefit him for a change in scenery. Surely there’s also got to be some performance clause which allows him to leave if things aren’t working out
I personally think he's going to go the vettel route. This feels like his 2015. Then a few years down the road he leaves and becomes one of the more well liked drivers in f1
the world needs a Max vs Lewis in McLaren and Ferrari well maybe just me but still it would be epic. Lewis up against the team where it all started for the team that were his arch enemies for so long against one of the best to ever do it. The scenes would be emaculate heck even chuck in Fernando at Aston into the mix
Need Max to stop yapping about retirement and run it with Lewis again. Ignoring horrendous stewarding, those two pretty much carried F1. US GP 2021, they finished nearly 50 seconds ahead of Checo in 3rd 💀
I understand that McLaren may be your favorite team, but with substantial investment, any team has the potential to be fast. Indeed, it's not just about the team; it's about the combination of investment, drivers and engineers, and FIA regulations of that year.
Pointy car does not mean loose rear. It means strong front. The 2 are not mutually exclusive. Max has also complained when the rear is too loose. There's a precise balance that he likes and the current car doesn't have that. But yeah, RBR would be screwed without him. Lower Midfield at best.
The fact is, albeit unfortunate, Max will stay, Max will win, and Max will be a four-time world champion. Red Bull are six time world champions with great personnel, loosing key figures doesn’t not correlate with immediate loss of philosophy on the car. The topic shouldn’t be about the Red Bull downfall but rather McLaren’s failure to capitalise properly - this being the topic of discussion at the end of the year; mark my words.
8:16 when you say what u don’t see in that team, I agree with u, but also I keep in mind that he stayed and held hopes for red bull from 2015-2020, until they delivered, but to be fair, his demand is much higher now. Let’s see
Yeah exactly. Another thing is the team was building up to beat the all conquering Mercedes. Now they’re in the position of being dominant (or at least were) and the core group is disbanding. Aston is looking like an ever more appealing project
The only hope is that at some point Lance realizes himself that he had his shoot already. My guess is that the Strolls may be thinking “Well he hasn’t got a good car yet to prove his real potential.” Or some shit like that. But my ~delusion~ hope is that Newey builds them a Rocketship, Alonso wins his 3rd and Stroll finally realizes “ok maybe i suck?” And calls it quits.
I have a few points of contention when discussing the "issues" with the rb20. First of, and I'm will to be corrected - the rb19/20 was praised for being soft and compliant at higher ride heights. All of a sudden, the narrative changed to it be stiff and uncompliant over bumps. When did that happen? And why? Let's stop beating around the bush and call it for what it is. Asymmetric braking! The entire platform was built around it and now that it's banned they're struggling to find a balance that works. Never have I seen a dominant car drop so precipitously over the course of a season without "something" being banned/changed.
I have thought about the asymmetric braking thing. But then I ask myself, when would they have taken it off? As soon as we saw the performance decline? And if so, why did they take it off then if it would’ve still been deemed legal. Anyway, that’s just playing devil’s advocate. Red Bull’s rapid downfall does seem weird nonetheless.
