- Tam O' Shanter is the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles. It's been owned and operated by the same family, in the same location, for almost a century. They are known for their prime rib slabs, sandwiches, and A-list clientele, from Walt Disney to Tom Hanks. It's even been featured on shows like The Office, MadMen, and Glee. Insider's Mikala Jones-Fielder goes to Atwater Village to visit the long-standing Hollywood hangout.

LA's Favorite Prime Rib Is Served In The City's Oldest Family-Owned Restaurant | Legendary Eats
get rid of the girl eating the food and get some decent people who know how describe food
chris brant bruh she talks in questions lol
Exactly, no hosts on Food Insider seem to know how to describe the food they’re eating
she's annoying
Describing a sandwich:
“Mmm, I like that.. The bread with the meat”.
HOLY SHIT!! I have to get down there!!
could have accomplished the same thing with a 7 yr old
There's a clear dissociation between the way the "Restaurant Manager" & the host go about describing the scrumptious prime rib!
Exactly. Why is she even there.
@@Raven1180 Yeah right!
When he's talking about the prime rib and how they were going to serve it up. It was like a food seduction.
I came looking for this comment lol absolutely true
okay so that looks absolutely delicious, but i must say…the elderly man at the end talking about his memories at the restaurant was the most adorable thing i’ve seen all week!
No One (at opening shot):
Gordon Ramsay: It's raw!
Rockstar Eater it’s still alive
@@les-bate I could still see it moving!
This is exactly how Gordon Ramsay would cook a prime rib.
If food had a place in heaven, Prime Rib would be one of the first there.
Justin Y. Yea
Ayyy! Justin Y.
that's true, justin
I haven’t recently seen you on many videos, maybe we’re just watching different videos but...
Shit I haven't seen you in a while.
2:38 Old Matty Matheson's
Fredrik Beng my god even has a similar high pitch voice too
Fredrik Beng lol
Haha.
It 100 percent looked raw at the beginning of the video
that's called rare
That’s called cow
Aniya Raine at least it’s not luncheon meat so there isn’t a chance of getting e-coli
@Aniya Raine What do you mean "those people"?!!!!
2:07 IF THIS ISN'T RAW AND BLOODY THEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS
Roberto Rubio the host definitely doesn’t know what medium rare is lol. I like meat on the rawer side though
Medium raw
Yes. That's not blood. That's haemoglobin
Rare temp only 120 it's fine coward
@@kamilrashid6718 Give me three units, please.
The last in the video of the older gathering having a good time together warmed my heart
wait, they use Lawry’s seasoning salt?
I was surprised, too. You'd think they'd have created their own house PR seasoning . Like the traditional aspect of the steak house, though.
Fun fact: This restaurant's decor inspired the design of Walt Disney's fantasyland.
Thank you for your service
I love mine on the well side. The end cut is the BEST.
Chef : 'How would you like your meat served?'
Customer : 'Alive.'
The cute old man at the end was my favorite :(
@1:07 freaking rawer than rare
Man, there's just too much at STEAK here for me not to want to Meat these fine folks! Seems like a Rare find!
Stop.
@@pepper1234ization I would have figured you for someone who likes it cheesy!
Mannm, gtfoh
@@gunnmansailo1341 yikes, talk about getting grilled!
😂😂😂🤣🤣
I've been to Tam O Shanter's several times and never have I ever been served a slab of Prime Rib that large.🤨
They say the Prime Rib sandwich was for a "quick lunch". In reality, all restaurants with Prime Rib on the menu have a sandwich to uses the scraps of un-usable pieces
Love Prime Rib! Will definitely check this place out
I love that they have 100 yrs history and try to keep things traditional.
Looks so good :) I love the restaurant's classic style...

Lawyer's Seasoned Salt, rest for 24hrs, 20lbs. @ 220○ F for 3hrs, rest 30min. and carve. So basic, yet looked incredible! He'll, I would've been happy with the back flap! More impressive is that it's been a family owned restaurant for a century!
Mikala, no one puts a napkin under the collar anymore, parents do that for their kids. Put the napkin over your lap. Also, it's not blood in the prime or steak.
That thumbnail meat was raw
it's rare
It's raw
It's prefect.
I T ' S R A W
I grew up in L.A. but there's so much to see. You could miss a thing or two.. but how did I not know about this place? 😪
I've eaten countless prime rib and prime rib sandwiches for free when I worked at a restaurant actually got the recipe and make it myself now
That's why I always ask for an "end cut" of prime rib. The middle always seems raw.
Medium rare??
Ramsey: that’s raw
This is how Gordon Ramsay would cook a prime rib
When u said that Tom Hanks is been there, it had me like wanna eat to that place.
It made me nervous😳
that last customer was so chill
He had me at history.
This video actually made me cry. My family used to go to this special restaurant in town that’s no longer there, and we used to have so many special meals together there. Weekly. Now, things have changed and we don’t spend as much time together. Made me sad. :(
Am i only one who thinks her voice matches to abella danger😍😂😂
Though that prime rib❤❤❤😍😍😍
lol why is every presenter in these sort of videos now credited as "producer" like since when was the producer in front of the camera, not to mention she didn't manage to sound convincing that she enjoyed it at all like yeah sweaty just list off the things on your plate, super convincing.
y’all need to invest in some better microphones and sound mixing for voiceovers
They used a 2 dollar headset for a mic
00:11 = sublime
00:10 is that ready to eat?
Gordon Ramsay would not approve.
IT’S FUCKIN’ RAAAAWWWWWW!!!
the ckixon nixon yup. CJ just replying to some comments.
“The bread with the meat”?? “And the au ju”??
Us: “how does it taste?”
Roblox regular: “it’s really good and taste good”
They put premixed seasoning salt on a roast and cooked it. Brilliant.
1:54 I think I CAN FINISH all of those🤤🤤🤤 OMG looks so amazing! Wanna go there😭😭
I’m pure veg don’t even eat egg but I enjoy this kind of videos 😅
Your vegan body is craving for what nature has adapted us for. Meat. Glorious meat.
It looks really delicious just by watching the video 😋 I want to eat
Love this place I go there every chance I get
Howard. W. Koch used to like to have his wrap parties at Tan r in the 50's and 60's. One of the Best was at the end of the Black Sleep Lon Chaney, Bela Lugosi, John Carridine, Tor Johnson , Reginald Le Berg all in attendance(Basil Rathbone skipped the dinner for some reason).
Read Matthew 25:31~46 and obey it, our eternal destiny depends upon our obedience or disobedience to this scripture. 🕊🐟🦋
One can't help but feel like royalty when dining at Tam O' Shanter.
*The office fan base approves of this*
Looks dangerously undercooked
they have been doing it for almost 100 years, I'm sure they know what they're doing.
Right across the street from Tam is the Griffith I love the burger & tots there
The Griffin is no more. Unfortunately :(
pulpfictioncompaz ugh I just saw it’s a new owner now it’s called moon room but it looks like it’s still nice def check it out the weekend coming up
That prime rib is WAYYYYY to bloody raw for me. She claimed it was medium rare, more like rare. Medium rare isn't that red or that bloody.
It's called turning up the saturation. Lol its definitely not that red in real life
RAW MEAT-keep it!
that looks raw!
That Prime Rib Sandwich looked amazing with horseradish and Au Jus. Mmmmmmmm
Love to see the comments from people who clearly crucify their meat. It's cooked, that's what it's SUPPOSED to look like.
100 percent raw !!! Even the way the roast moves when they take it out of the oven you can tells it’s not cooked !!
Stick with your McDonalds hamburger.
Hey have you heard of this word called saturation lol
Everyone should watch
Adam Ragusea's video on food lighting. When they are slicing the meat the video is clearly edited to make it appear more red. Watch at 2:09 and you can see the meat right before it goes on the sandwich is clearly not that rare. And when she is eating it it doesn't look raw. The meat looks no unnatural I don't know how people can't see that.
Mmm.... Prime Rib! I think Homer Simpson would approve.
The bread with the meat
I'd have to say prime rib is my favorite 🍖🥩
Well done for me
Damn thats raw
The opening shot looks absolutely disgusting.. and the fact that they’ve been around for 100 years and are only using Lowrys.. concerning 👎🏾
What is that music that starts around 1 minute 55 seconds?
Shit where do sign up to be a producer for this channel?
I don’t understand how steak can taste savoury?
I hope I am not seeing that prime rib go to waste. It maybe a bit presumptuous on my part, but in minute 2:35 I see that beautiful slab of meat off on the side like a neglected child, while the host is biting into the sandwich. Given how petite the host appears, I doubt she is going to go back and eat the entirety of that beautiful cut of meat. Hopefully the crew will help her devour that.
That is nothing but blood
*Prime Rib sandwich* 😋😍
AWESOME
The first prime rib we saw in vid was raw looking...
That prime rib look way too undercooked.
RAW
That german gentleman at the end made the video.
that looks disgustingly raw. might as well go to mayfield farms, throw some seasoning salt on a cow and bite.
Stick with your McDonalds hamburger.
Thanks i guess in not the only one then
I went to go try this when I was in LA but I stepped on a bag of human excrement and was so freaked out I flew home that afternoon.
Honestly, I don’t know how you all do it. The last thing I want to do after that is eat.
1:40 it is not blood! it is juice!
Michael Tschuertz *myoglobin
Here before Justin Y.’s comment blows up!
Are we no even gawnae mention TAM O'SHANTER Scottish heritage 🏴🏴🏴🏴
it is R A W !!!
I like a med rare that was uncooked
Her prime rib was medium rare. It is always a little less cooked close to the bone.
@@candicefield9567 yeah it was , but they may have been talking about when they were cutting into the whole thing, that was def raw lol
Not gonna lie to you , i love meat , but that looks damn aweful !!!
That’s some good meat. That’s what she said
thanks!! how about the price? :)
They can't do a decent Yorkshire Pudding by the looks of it.
That is raw
In it prime. One of the best ✂ choice. Next 2 ribeye steak. Primetime.
Someone needs to tell the manager (and everyone else watching) that if something is served "au jus" that means "with juice." Jus = juice. So the liquid in the dish is Just jus... When you serve it, would you say "here's your with juice? Or "here's your juice?
So we got this straight? "Roast beef au jus" is roast beef with juice. You dip your sandwich in jus... Not in au jus. :)
thanks for keeping these restaurant alive. I'm a frequent visitor of my home town Prime Rib place House of Pribe Rib in San Francisco - AsianFoodNerd
That meat looks raw and undercooked. No thanks.
Its prim rib med rare brother get over it
Its impressive how a slab of prime rib has tempted my vow to never visit LA
Cool!)
I'm a 100% Disabled Vet. who'll never get the physical chance to come to you. I just can't make the trip. How much to ship me a meal from the Tam? PS I'm also an Irish Lad. Erin goh brah~!!!
That prime rib sandwich with some jus on the side mmmmm
The fact that she said it was blood in the meat destroyed any little credibility I may have first suspected.
it's RAW
COOL 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Whats in jucy?
Another place without Yorkshire Pudding!
