Great interview. Mark is obviously intelligent, hard working and perhaps somewhat lucky. These are the kind of people that I want to see be successful. The ones that "get ahead" on pure luck or nefarious methods don't come close to measuring up to what Mark and his brother have accomplished.
I subscribed because of this video! You ABSOLUTELY NAILED it at the end!! What if Mark and Mike are exceptional because of what was said at the end?! What if the energy and achievements they have are because of how they were raised? And not religion specifically, but the family relationships and joyful outlooks?! I'm NOT into celebrity worship. I despise that mindset. But if I was to get sucked in, the celebrity's would be Mark and Mike! The only reason they're not beating Tony Robins at his game, is that they're too busy building companies and airplanes! I've been learning a huge amount of information about healing from emotional trauma, and avoiding it in the first place! It literally is brain science, and in spite of how resilient we all think we are, it happens to us all! Mike and Mark are living examples of the way our brains are supposed to work! Fueled by JOY and love for each other! Especially those we think of as "my people". Identity is not understood in our culture, but we see the problems caused by a lack of proper identity, coupled with emotional trauma! People who can't decide what pronouns to use, drugs, and we all know how much longer the list goes. Having a joyful identity is so huge, and even the Pateys don't fully understand what sets them apart..... Awesome interview!
The honesty in this interview shows you how humble they are. These two brothers are changing aviation and bringing intrigue for aviation back to the younger generation…
Family is such an important part of success. It’s unfortunate when your wife, husband, brother or sister sees you as a competitor instead of an ally. I think breaking away is the only option in this case if you want to achieve something or do something that’s hard to do. The Patey boys really show how it’s done and are a real inspiration to watch. Thanks guys.
One of my favourite videos is the one from High Sierra where Trent Palmer made it in last minute after his big rework of the Freedom Fox, and we watched the drama of the STOL Drags. Mark and Trent having to go again to break an amazing tie, then Trent going up against Draco (still miss that big red dragonfly). The outcome was secondary to the pure joy and camaraderie they all showed. They were just so happy for Trent, for the fun of the event itself. It’s so nice to see that good people still win, that hard work and just plain “fairness” in the corporate world can bring you success that doesn’t keep you up at night…well, with those two it keeps them up at night for good reasons, but you get my drift. Great video.😎
Oh man, that was an awesome interview. In my opinion, Best Aviation is the aviation equivalent to Apple. Well designed and incredibly well made with the end user in mind. I just couldn’t quit smiling hearing Mark honestly talk about everything. Hearing the story about how Perry came into their life and the stories with that were fun to hear. I’m super excited for his and Mike’s success!!! And their humble attitude about everything. Thank you for this interview. 25 minutes just flew by. 😎
I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation and leaned a lot about mobile helicopter landing pads. Thank you for getting Mark to share so many things surrounding his life.
I love the way he says it’s amazing! Honestly I love just how much passion those BIG KIDS have, I also feel privileged they share their passions, houses, life’s and families with us all.
Excellent interview Dan, thank you. Mark is an amazing guy. I absolutely love the paint job on PERRY. The interior and panel look amazing too. Always great to hear from the Party twins. Keep up the excellent work as always. Safe skies 🇺🇸🛩️
We are so privileged to have Mark and Mike out there driving the right stuff to put it out there what hard work and ethics can do in life. How fulfilling it is to follow you guys ❤ Inspiring !
Loved the video and it’s always great to hear the Pateys and how they have achieved all the great things they have done. I am always on the lookout for the next Patey project. Great job!!
I like seeing interviews with you. Love you both but you are not as "In Your Face" as Mike is. Thanks for the more relaxed and thoughtful delivery of information. You and your brother have worked out a livable plan to carry the family forward. A Huge Applause on your mobile pad. That is brilliant!!!!
Such a humble bunch of guys, super down to earth!, wish one day i can just meet them, dream would be to hangout and build something! Great episode! And Congrats!
My son and I drove to Wichita to see them at the RUclips Award Ceremony 3-4 years ago. (My son didn’t have his PPL yet, but he does now!) Meeting the two of them was the highlight of the trip. And got to do a Back To Work quick video with them. Their wives are just as amazing and smart as them. You can tell their families are a huge part of their lives. Joy was just everywhere
This channel finally looks like it's taking off! I remember last summer I think during Oshkosh it was at 55k subs and Chrissy took a bet that she would skydive if they hit I don't remember the number, I think 75k. Such quality content and I like that Dan lets the guests talk and tell their stories.
In around 1980 my high school friend took me to his uncle’s private strip and I went on my first plane ride. I was 24. I’ve owned that same C172 since February of 1988. Not many can say that, let alone own one plane that long.
The Patey brothers and I have something pretty amazing in common - we both think that we have the best identical twin in the world. I have to say it is amazing to have a twin. Highly recommended.
The best way to make a small fortune becoming an air frame manufacturer is to start with a large fortune! The certification process is so daunting. Look at the Lear fan, Beech Starship and the numerous small jets that just haven't made it.
I've got a best tug the only problem. I see they should have put a timeout switch because invariably. People use it to move the plane and forget turn Off switch .
That prop was missing from the re-engine videos and it seemed like spoiling the ship for a ha'p'orth of tar. I should have known the prop was coming too.
He's not wrong about hangars in Utah and countless other places. If I don't get a plane, it will because there are no hangars (or even tie downs) available. :(
If you want it, you have to work for it. I gave my son one sage piece of advice: "Nobody is standing on the street corner handing out paychecks, you have to earn your money." He's not a Pilot. He's a medical Doctor. 🤓 🤠😉
We had a local doctor who was also a pilot. Back in the 30’s, he flew himself around northern Canada to places where a plane was the only way in or out for much of the year. I would say being a physician would have been a help with those old bush planes, the right kind of mind for both flying and fixing.
Its quite simple, they were born with good brain chemistry and can function when tired and only need a few hours sleep at night to function. Its a no brainer, good genetics.
I hear pretty good things about the Eclipse and I low key doubt that they can't afford the Eclipse :) but it's not a bus for a lot of people and gear and it doesn't have beta for short runways perhaps. It's a proper fast bird with better than Baron fuel economy which speaks to how greatly opportunities with light twin jets have been missed for numerous decades. The turbofan engine was invented in 1936. Eclipse is about 1600kg empty, a 4 seater jet could easily be less than 1/4 that weight. And there is no reason a tiny jet engine should be crazy expensive so piston planes should really have disappeared in the 60s. Which is quite different from what actually happened. And that's not considering if we were told the truth about UFOs in 1947. Our world would be star trek today. Without exaggeration. Human iniquity aside.
Something I learned from Steve Jobs and Richard Branson is that no matter how crowded a market is, you can always compete at the top end of quality. Best Tugs has demonstrated that in spades.
I don't buy all that mumbo jumbo. The Patey's are well off enough to afford and operate most medium private jets Say a Phenom 300 for instance and I say all the power too them.
Great interview. Mark is obviously intelligent, hard working and perhaps somewhat lucky. These are the kind of people that I want to see be successful. The ones that "get ahead" on pure luck or nefarious methods don't come close to measuring up to what Mark and his brother have accomplished.
Congrats on grand baby #4, Mark!!🙌
Great interview, Dan. The Patey's are great - ALL of them, kids and wives included!

Of all the aviation videos I've seen, this one makes me so happy.
The Patey's are an amazing family! I could listen to either one of those guys all day long. Thanks for sharing this
Caffeine, positivity, and brotherly competition. Can’t beat it!
Excellent attitude excellent word……ENCOURAGEMENT!
I love the way he says it’s amazing!
Honestly I love just how much passion those BIG KIDS have, I also feel privileged they share their passions, houses, life’s and families with us all.
That was awesome thanks for filming Mark!

Mark and Mike and the Patey families all seem to be very hard working and they share the wealth too. Great interview with Mark.👍👍🇨🇦
Very interesting interview! Thanks Dan
Loved the video and it’s always great to hear the Pateys and how they have achieved all the great things they have done. I am always on the lookout for the next Patey project. Great job!!

Excellent interview - beautiful plane. The Pateys have each become a legend.
Thank You for an awesome interview with an amazing man!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for encouraging me!
Great interview! Excellent wisdom shared here.
Fantastic talk and video. Thank you
Truly amazing individuals. Thank you!
Great Interview!
Over celebrate, that's fantastic!❤

Thanks! Yeah I don’t remember where we were at AirVenture, but we set 100k for Christy’s jump. She’s getting nervous!
Mark, is the maintenance company for Perry replacing worn fasteners now? 😎
Actually a very inspiring interview. Thanks!
Inspiration for all. 👍🥰✈️🇺🇸
What an inspiration !
Thumbs up 👍 true life story. Thank you!

Gongrats on the new grandchild! Mazel Tov to all the Pateys and everyone watching this!
Love what they do.
this guy has endless energy and hes smart and friendly.. he would be successful selling ice to igloo owners
And it would be the best ice you could find!
Yes, but it would be really great ice…🤷🏻♂️😑

Everyday I shoot for a piece of their energy. If I could just hit 50% I think I'd be doing awesome.

Just occurred to me....and I'm not a pilot...are most helicopter pilots ,fixed wing pilots as well ??
No it’s rare.
❤❤❤

Better to over-celebrate than under-appreciate, I suppose.
WORK (smarter)

If a romba vacuum cleaner can go back to charging port why can't your tug do same thing . Auto drive back to charging port. Self drive
Something I learned from Steve Jobs and Richard Branson is that no matter how crowded a market is, you can always compete at the top end of quality. Best Tugs has demonstrated that in spades.
Mike Patey's secret sauce, be a genius engineer and work 18 hours a day, 7 days a week.
#1
Amazing achievements! Such a great family and always humble..
