Bro just wanted to say that this channel is the best I've seen at talking about pedals and you approach it in a way that shows not only knowledge about the technical aspect of what you are talking about but most importantly a developed ideal about methodology and the importance of intention that are important to show the honest creativity each person has. And you do all this while showing us that unique aesthetic you create with sound, those action figure images with pixelated backgrounds are such an accurate visual representation of the sounds you use. Thanks for all the videos, 10/10 channel!

First time watching your channel, but I believe you've said about 'delay' is true to any effect. It's hard to explain to someone who never tried effects or never used them in a live situation. the 'effect' for the effect, is useless, unless it adds something to what you're already playing (intention), then, there's taste and purpose, tact and situation awareness.
ps sorry for my bad English! Take care, I'll watch the rest now!

My new favorite hobby is going through your tips and jamming them out before I listen to how you do it. You use your gear a lot differently then I do and I think it's good to get uncomfortable or reacquainted with my pedals.

The sound of delay length jumping about is the sound of joy! A do want to give a vote to controlling repeats with the expression pedal though, it's cool to add a fadeout with some controlled oscillation at the end of a phrase or song :)

Yes, I’ve been getting some great sounds, by assigning different parameters to an expression pedal with a Raster 2, and I can do those Rubberneck effects, or just use it for a cool way to get this movement on solos, after changing modulation rate and depth up.
So many things to do with it, and I’ve been focusing on uasssvle things for gigging, after I spent a month just doing film score type stuff.

a cool thing you can do is match the last echo with a chord that would form a complex chord together, forming a 13th chord or something.

about the last tip, about messing with delay times with expression pedals to pitch shift the signal... paul banks from interpol does something similar to this on the track untitled. he uses the hold function of the pedal to keep the same note ringing and starts changing the duration knob to pitch shift the note, it creates a pretty cool effect. happens at the end of the song

A lot of this is what electronic musicians have been using for years. Glad guitar players have discovered it! One of my fave ways is to split the signal into 2 or more, and have a 100% delay on various drive pedals to get a stereo pan and time shifted signal path that sounds like multiple players rather than just one person with a delay. You need a small mixer for this, and one that will go back to a stereo amp or use a reamp box or Helix etc.

So I just commented this on another video but I play reggae/dub, and what we do is run the delay into itself to the point where you can’t tell what the original sound is. It also gets real nice and overdriven and if you add a filter in it gets real interesting.

Having fun with rhythmic delays is actually like playing with a metronome as the slightest time mistake will send you off. I learned how to keep time indefinitely with my boss dsd3 in the 90s and now my 8 year old daughter is doing the same. I have about 20 delays and she still chose the dsd3.

Very nice! It's amazing how far the 'echo' effect has come since I got my first Echoplex back in the late 1970's. Even then that was on its way out. If I remember correctly, the Electro-Harmonix Memory Man came along. I had one and it changed my life as a guitarist and musician. I used it for more than just guitar.

I don’t personally do number 1 for actual songs - I’ll play around with it but I always feel derivative or like I’m trolling. I do use it for a purpose but I like delay being more backgroundy. Especially with modulation (low and slow though for me) - it can really add that perfect sumn sumn to a section.
Vibrato on the benson is top notch
As soon as you mentioned the expression pedal I thought of the Supro. Good stuff. That was my fave lil tune as well.
