The way your mind works is so cool dude. To have these visuals be inspired by playing such strange sounds is a magical thing to witness
Wow, I love your rendition of “Between the Bars”.
that part is one of my favorite things i've ever done in these vids
@@CyberattackWorld mine too ❤️ of yours I mean
Mariah Carey AND Eliot Smith covers in one video!? Madlad.
Agreed. Between the Bars was insanely well done. A++++++ video again CA 👏 The Mariah Carey was super rad too
@@CyberattackWorldIt's perfect
Treble that’s faded like it’s been in the sun too long. I like that.
Some of us don’t have to buy fancy pedals and equipment to sound low quality.
the truly advanced
True Lo-Fi tone is in the fingers
@@emulgatorx there’s nothing like the sound of an amp that really pulls air.
Do not doing - The Tao (also me on Saturdays)
Honestly, just pirate some good lofi vsts.
OR check out the Line 6 MM4. It has all types of great modulation options including vibrato which if you pair with a Behringer overdrive or eq can give you a great lofi sound
That Thunder Road cover with the Zvex unit was absolutely STELLAR DUDE
Thanks man
Contrasting beautiful melodies with destroyed sounds pretty much sums up the Boards of Canada aesthetic.
Love what you said about contrasting lo-fi brokenness with beautiful melodies. Such a foundational musical concept (that's applicable to so many things. Love the metaphor of putting a hat on a hat to contrast this notion. Hilarious and so effective
Thunder Road sax solo and Sucked Out in one video...hell yeah
man i'm glad you caught those
Came down here to say this…(and very cool videos just generally)
..and Superdrag - ha! Nicely done.
The slow dolly toward the church with that music was sooooo good.
All the videos on this channel are a piece of art
Fuzz started life as the sound of a broken mixing desk, to hey, yeah, makes total sense as lofi.
Dude that Elliot and Superdrag cover was insane! I remember as a kid thinking about becoming a musician and I only had a casio keyboard at the time and you’re music is how I wanted music to be as a kid!
I watch Cyberattack videos at 240p (no joke) and it just fits. I would go for 144p, but the drop in sound quality is a bit much
advanced
“It’s like putting a hat on a hat.” < the second I hit “Subscribe” 😂
Best pedal reviewer ever
"'Lo-Fi guitar' stands for 'low fidelity guitar'" is beautiful comedic timing
"humor, at the highest level, isn't funny at all."
-David Lee Roth
That was great. It reminded me of "El Niño is Spanish for...The Niño"
This is why i don’t like memorizing and reciting long winded jokes. “Like putting a hat on a hat” -cyberattack
It's true though
Not really anymore. That's where the name of the style comes from. But it has evolved and became a genre of music, so LoFi guitar today is hi fi
Try this: gated fuzz > bitcrusher > low pass filter > big reverb. Maximum crackle and pop, every note sounds like you're unplugging/plugging your input jack. Throw in a loop of just passive hiss from a cranked distortion/open fuzz for good measure.
I think the ‘Let it be Beautiful’ thing works because it gives it a delicate quality.
Like it’s just about hanging on without falling apart 🎸
I thought before I watched this that this video idea would work well playing in the vein of Elliot smith. And Logan’s behold, syntax error. Great video.
Bruh... this entire series is masterclass-level... both content and delivery. [Been playing since 1994, yet I learn new things from each of your vids.] Zen-master insights made open-source... available to anybody who will look, listen, and then go APPLY them in their own new ways. Muchas gracias and God bless
thanks dude
It's amazing how much we're willing to pay to sound like we're using crappy equipment.
been binge watching your content. always love recognizing some covers i never thought i'd hear. Sucked Out was a real treat
Love your videos mate, just brimming with ideas, vibe and attitude.
So good to see some Superdrag love! Another amazing video. Your ability to welcome people into the way you see and think with your information and visuals is a real joy. Awesome content for guitarists and musicians but I’ve been sending your videos to friends who don’t play just because I find them so entertaining.
thanks, i really appreciate it. superdrag rules
Great advice. Liminal space sounds…good work. Great visuals. All reasons why I have been binging your channel the past few days!
I've only watched 2-3 videos of yours, but you're very quickly becoming one of my favorite guitar channels on RUclips. Super unique, informative videos with incredible playing/demonstrations! Subbed and looking forward to more :)
thanks for the comment. all my videos are exactly like this, if you wanna take the plunge and go through the older ones
@@CyberattackWorld I fully intend on going through everything I've missed! :)
Nice! Extra points for the Superdrag cover at the end!
Major TPPOJLA philosophy. Cyberattack you're killing it
#tppojla is the only reality
Okay, but the fuzz fugue of Always Be My Baby is something I didn’t know I needed! 🥹
baby it's only a matter of time
That last sound example was amazing!
Really digging this series, keep em coming!
Only discovered the channel this week, but absolutely loving these videos. Very inspiring.
This is my favourite fx channel. Love your content.
lo-fi on the cheap (i.e., you might already have these boxes): take a 6 or 7 band eq and drop every other slider down. Pair that with a vibe, phaser or flanger, maybe a little reverb and you're good to go. Eq's can be dirt cheap.
Yes this is classic
By SO far, the sickest gear videos on RUclips. bravo!!
Absolutely the best guitar RUclipsr. You actually know what you're talking about. It's amazing
the first video i've seen from your channel and wow what an introduction!
yo this channel came at the right time for me. sharing some gold plated wisdom here sir. big thanks 🙏
Excellent insights delivered perfectly!
hey man, great video. Love your visuals and sound examples
This is great food for thought for me. I'm only starting to dip my toes into Lo-Fi pedal stuff, and now I have some ideas about where to start. I was familiar with some of these already, but others were totally new to me. Thank you!
that part of Thunder Road always gets me a little choked up, sounded dope with the lofi treatment!
Love your channel, bro. Just what one needs to get out of the box.
Subscribed because of Between the Bars. Nice work, man. I appreciate your takes.
Man, I found your channel yesterday and going ham on it. But hearing your elliott smith rendition, instant subscribe!
Quality video! I think the same way about lo-fi, it needs to be fun, beautiful and exciting at it's heart. But what I like a lot a few videos I have been watching from you that you often create actually songs and not only soundscapes with pedals that has strange effects. Thank you! :)
I'm kinda speechless you demonstrated a fuzz pedal with a fugue but I'm glad you did
Pretty unique approach to the guitar and great playing skills 😎
great cover at the end 💪🏼
underrated super drag song🔥
Your videos are great! Keep it up!
#5 was incredible.
All these covers really got to me
I love this channel so much
I was just wondering how to do this and thought the cyberattack guy would have something good and lo and behold. Thanks.
Pffff such amazing vibezzz. Sunfaded, I’m stealing that for a songtitle.
Love your channel
Like putting a hat…on a hat…
Omg..that made me spit coffee😂☕️i freakin love your videos, i think boards of canada really got into my head years ago with the lo fi, detuning and sun faded polaroid sounds, you do the lofi proud!
Another amazing video! Like others have mentioned, the Elliott Smith cover was incredible.
1:02 The Ibanez LF7 ‘lo fi’ distortion pedal with a high pass filter in 2000 was quite a bit earlier than the Zvex in 2008. I remember looking at catalogs (!) and wondering if it would make me sound like Graham Coxon’s first solo record that sounds like it was recorded inside a potato.
that's awesome, great info thank you
Great job. I opted for the chase bliss warped vinyl
The visuals accompanying who sucked out the feeling might keep me awake to long tonight
I think I love you, Cyberattack.
God that Phil Spector and Superdrag made that video so special! Wish we could start a band after that! Great video
I enjoyed watching this video. I enjoyed watching your past videos. I will enjoy watching your future videos. Peace.
time is never time at all
you just gave away my band's sound signature with the bitcrush+verb thing... ;)
I would love a full version of that last song, that went so unreasonably hard
enjoy: ruclips.net/video/a0zEkiQ5biI/видео.htmlsi=r1t1k1YSDizRPfrt
Aw amazing thank you
My favorite RUclipsr. 🎉👍
That 8:48 Elliot Smith sound example was radddd at least I think that's what that was :)
it was, glad you caught that
yeah
THAT'S what that was! I was racking my brain!
Wow idd that between the bars version!!!
There's this powerful "get more out of what you already have - by insanely thinking out of the box" (subtext?) message in your pedal vids, Ivan. Which is SUSTAINABLY INSPIRING.
Imho the only true antidote to GAS, which is the hauntingly persistent plague of our times: "Buy more to feel mo' better"…
And that's exactly why I dig your entire Oeuvre so desparately, apart from your soulfully emotional commitment of playing uncompromisingly in the pocket with the most cheesiest of sounds.
My two favs apart from the technical ideas in this vid are the Fuzzed out Mariah Carey fuge and Superdrag's Sucked Out, for the irresistible rock groove.
Wish I could give a hundred likes instead of only that painfully insufficient one.
In honesty, ALL of your vids so far have been lo-fi guitar gold mines, anyway.
Keep 'em coming!
Thanks man I'm glad you get it
Wow I haven’t thought about Superdrag in a LONG time!
My OLD band opened quite a few shows for them around 1998. Really nice guys if I remember right…
Great vid as always.
That's awesome
The lofi superdrag sucked out may be my favorite thing on the internet right now. Wow.
kissing the bride
You should look into Mask Audio Electronics. I have the Part Garden and it does the weirdest lofi fuzz tones. And then their Line Blur is strange because it has a frequency control for the mids and it can get weird or it can be a really good preamp but I use it to make my Plumes crackle in a broken speaker type of way without being too distorted.
With the Zvex I put it before my fuzz because it gets really dark after it
These lo fi sounds always remind me of Knobs, except I can actually tell what you're playing
Goddam fuckin chills over here listening to that Between The Bars cover. Brilliant man. So beautiful! But now I'm sad
Great video!
"Putting a hat on a hat" is how I feel about a lot of metal these days.
I think some of the AC noises pedals do lofi (or low fidelity) really well
agreed, especially the bitcrush + reverb thing
Excellent superdrag my dude 😎
this was my dream
Cyberattack will always be my baby.
i'm part of you indefinitely
and then a Superdrag homage. What a master.
@@CyberattackWorldconfirmed inescapable.
Nice work as always, Ivan. I really enjoyed your use of pitch shifting up a few steps, which I think you've done before. It occurs to me that if there were a way to keep the shifted signal clean but make the notes a bit more staccato by cutting them out, the resultant sound would be like a cheap Casiotone keyboard with a guitar patch. Which seems pretty consistent with the Cyberattack esthetic.
I'd like to chase that down, but I don't know of an effect that cuts out notes prematurely (I guess it would be some kind of timed noise gate). Any thoughts?
Hey thanks for the comment. The EHX Attack Decay cuts off notes the exact way you want. Some envelope filters can also be made to do it, for more information about how check out my video about the GFI Synesthesia
Win win (win?) for me here. love Mariah, love fuzz and love/share your perspective on good/bad sounds. Also, the Elliot Smith cover was lovely - but stopped counting at three wins. Thanks for another dose inspiration, cheers.
All I've ever wanted is for Elliott Smith and Mariah Carey to live in the same format
@@CyberattackWorld self-actualize it, don't criticize it.
This channel needs more Bruce Springsteen covers. First of all because NJ. Secondly, because he's the Boss and makes amazing pedals.
Thanks Rahzark, you make an excellent point. I'm assuming you caught the Springsteen cover in this one from a couple months ago: ruclips.net/video/IWdbwR9wFGg/видео.html
@@CyberattackWorld i didn't, i'll go back and listen!
Wale up babe, Cyberattack posted
Oh man that Elliot smith cover was 🤌🏻
A hat on a hat. Beautiful.

Sucked Out by Superdrag! Nice!
Nice bit crushed Elliot.
Dude!!! That compressor/trem trick.... Holy shit... I actually LEARNED something. Fuck me. Amazing man
I've recommended it on comments of this channel before but the mr black analog chorus Vibrato can be "stretched" to insane delay times giving it a very gen-loss type of effect, even in a random fluttering Lfo.
Using fast choppy tremolo is a nice way to get a flutter that sounds fairly complete but is missing information between the duty peaks.
There are a number of subdecay pedals like their quasar and starlight pedals with some random lfos that can get this magical texture to them- I'm stretching though.
Awesome topic and nice sounds as always man
that all sounds rad
I said delay times but I actually meant lfo rate.. it can go into about 14 seconds per cycle so it is a stretched or purring sound effect from what sounds like blurry bucket brigade smearing goodness. Buzzwords. Anyway the delay time is not what I actually meant to say on the earlier comment- thanks
Z-Vex did not create the lo-fi pedal. Have you ever played through an Ibanez Lo-Fi pedal made in the late 1990's? I love that pedal and I'm very sad it's discontinued. I wish they would make a mini-version so I can put on my touring pedal board!
HX Stomp episode would definitely be popular.
dang that between the bars cover was so pretty
drink up baby!!!!
Your videos are so damn unique and creative. You probably hate this sincere stuff but it's what I got to give. Keep it up and I'll be sending you flowers, real big pink ones, you're gonna puke.
no no no sincerity is good. "crucify the insincere" etc.
Hat on top of a hat? oh cyberattack, youll always be my baby. Thanks for another great video
Hey just discovered your channel, very cool vibes!! That Chroma Console tone was great along with the tune! What were you using for drums on that end tune? They fit perfectly
GarageBand drum machine baby
I love how you're quick to assure the viewer that the ~900 can still kill you! :D
what i am, what i want, i'm only after death!!!!!!!!
Gosh, that Springsteen tune hit me hard as f ❤
it's a town full of losers
I think you could enjoy some chiptune synth a lot!
dude between the bars? fucking cool
