DIY Resonator Delete

- Today we use my moms car as a test dummy for installing a resonator delete. This same technique can be used in any car including the MK7 GTI. Now I would never just delete the resonator off a Honda Pilot but it was faulty and had a leak so I figured it was a good opportunity. Links as promised down below.

You might want to take care of the knock sound from the engine.
I'd recommend some wolfblood tungsten disulfide powder mixed-up and put in with your oil and over 100 miles it will rebuild any ware in the engine. Brilliant stuff.👍👍

For that exhaust cutting tool.. get a strong zip tie and use it to keep the handles close.. tighten the zip tie as you cut deeper.. you don’t have to squeeze that way… just swivel it back and fourth..

If you put exhaust tape on it then clap you'll be good to go
So clapping helps after duct tape got it

if you want the resonator maybe put back at a later time i suggest getting done at a shop.

Buddy of mine did it and he also used muffler cement however his bmw went in limpmode. But I'm willing to take chance on my MB all for sweet sound
Most likely removed a o2 sensor or damaged ones
Wow I didn't know 02 sensors made cars go into limp mode. But BMW is just a money pit.

If you’re worried about any leaks make sure everything is tight and or jb weld that shit.

When the resonator gets cut out and the straight pipe is installed will the exhaust have to seal itself between were the delete is welded or clamped
Get good clamps and there will be no leaks

All I have to say is, the correct way would have been to actually have the pipes connected, plus I work at autozone and all the stuff we get comes pre packaged for our vendor so autozone didn’t put it in the wrong packaging the vendor did
Do you know by any chance if you replace the downpipe with an aftermarket without a tune will it throw a cel? Even if you use a spacer for the O2 sensor? Thanks.

Bro I'm thinking about doing it on my 2017 MB c300, quick question will I get check engine light also does it mess up electrical or ecu computer..
No just makes the car louder but if your delete the cat you may get an engine light
The nearest shop near me is charging me 160 to delete the resonator. No way in hell I'm paying someone to use a saw and a weld a piece.
Then be unhappy with an exhaust that is held together with hose clamps lol

It's behind the cat and in front of the muffler about midway.
Resonator is just not straight pipe rather a straight pipe with perforations, dampening materials which may contain steel wool and fiberglass to lowering the tone of exhaust gases especially rasp sound

Yeah you need to seal it, no holes or little gaps, they cause exhaust leaks, reduced back pressure, and o2 sensors going off
The shop would have been alot better than some hose clamps. I would of been pissed if someone rigged my exhaust this way.
plenty of factory exhausts are clamped, just not using the cheap ass ones he used

I did that on my Dad's CRX recently, the only thing I notice is the Engine run quieter + smoother. Reason for that is, his Resonator broke inside and it was blocking the Exhaust Flow.

He is deleting the " Resonator ". It's in the center of the Car, that is the part he's cutting off and mending. Also, pause at 8:07... You can still see his Muffler when done.
