Hey just dit a res delete on my MK7.5. I have the OEM Oettinger exhaust. I definitively notice a difference from outside the car. I didn't want to do a DP since the car is brand new and I hope that the res delete is less of a risk to warranty than a DP (which would completely void the powertrain warranty in my mind whereas res delete might only affect the exhaust itself). I think the sound dampening in our cars just makes it hard to hear anything other than massive volume changes (e.g. downpipe, VERY loud catback like Remus or crackle tune) install from inside the cabin. On top of that, if you still have Soundaktor on, it'll just completely drown out any difference in the exhaust volume/tone you achieve with the res delete. I just posted a record of a cold start post-res delete if you wanna check it out. Love you content man, keep it up.
I did the resonator delete on my GTI and it was like you said. There is a slightly deeper tone that you can notice more under light load and acceleration on the freeway. Overall a little underwhelming, but the weight savings is welcome. Later on I got the Clubsport muffler, and now it sounds great! Very good tone and not too much drone (I’m picky about exhausts that drone on the freeway). My advice is to keep your stock muffler around if you plan to upgrade your downpipe in the future, just in case. A downpipe alone unlocks a lot of noise for these cars.
i staged 2 my polo gti, changed to valvetronic exhaust and resonator delete. It sounds alot louder, also pops and bangs with dsg farts.im loving it,helps notify motorist on the road that im approaching lol
Dude I'm digging your videos just found your page today. All the mods you've done are ones I'm considering. Exhaust wise from what I've read and heard most recommend a down pipe w/ stock exhaust. Much more tone than the res delete.
Thanks for checking out the videos! That's what I've heard as well. I want to do a catted downpipe for emissions sake and leave everything else the way I currently have it. I would like to put a set of larger exhaust tips on the muffler too.
@@ColoredinLight I did a Res delete w/ a 3” CTS catted dp and I think that’s the best sounding w/o being too loud. Cold starts are pretty loud but after the idle goes down it’s perfect!
Hey there, love the channel! Just got my 2020 GTI (SE) and and trying my best to get past the break in period but I'm not even past 100 miles yet 🥺. Its tough cause this car wants to GO! I drove both manual and the DSG and walked away with the DSG.
@@ColoredinLight I've accidentally gotten into the boost a little bit!!! But nowhere near redline of course. And boy I'm loving it!! Went with the dark iron blue.😁
I just installed a stock gti muffler to my 1.8t Golf hopping that it would sound sportier, but it ended up sounding the same. I'm really tempted to do this to my golf, but I'm afraid that the mod makes my car way too loud or drony. Do you know someone who has done this to its 1.8t Golf?
I’ve done a custom catback which includes res delete, a 1.5 ft by 1 ft valved muffler and two 1 ft by .5 ft (1 on each side) recently I’ve done a dsg fart in a multi story parking with windows down (Instant regret) I got ear pain then my left ear bled because I ruptured my eardrum. It was so loud that they reported it as a gunshot and police arrived.
I was going to go with the AWE cat back but I seen and heard ECS cat back and for the money just as good. Just got the stage 1 93 oct. APR tune and now i need some more noise lol. You can tell the difference a little but just go cat back or now an axle back lol.👌👍
I bought the AWE track edition catback a month ago after a lot of research on all the options out there the AWE sounds nice and deep HOWEVER it’s not that much louder if i could go back in time I would probably buy the turboback or just buy a downpipe first and then the catback.
i have a res. delete on my A3 1.0 . And it makes a big difference for that engine sounds like a little rs3. I do have a piggyback installed though. i guess its the bigger boost presure
@@ColoredinLight I saw a video of a Golf gti tcr with the millet decat downpipe ( opf also deleted) and stock exhaust driving in Amsterdam it sounds awesome and the dsg cracks and farts are super loud :D
I hope I get an anwser for this , Incase I would want to get Back the stock resonator , could I just Clamp it back with the same clamps that are Holding the aftermarket pipe or do I need to weld it back? I am thinking maybe I Will need to put back the resonator once a year for inspection in here were I live (Sweden).
I ended up buying a TCR muffler from Europe. Its the club sport muffler with wider spacing for the mk7.5 it took a while to get ordered but it’s finally on the way : ) You should try it out. Love the channel by the way, keep up the great work.
I just did the same, but had an issue with the clamp to pipe size differences (7.5 = 60mm and TCR = 65mm). How did you go about resolving this? Welding?
Hello. I am going to remove the catalytic converter on my MK6 GTI (ODO-207K km) and I have a few questions. 1. Will the car really become a little faster? 2. How can i get rid of CEL? 3. Will this harm my turbo or engine? 4. And finally, will i pass the emission inspection without a converter? Thanks 🙏🏻
Removing a catalytic converter that's not monitored by an o2 sensor is fine. Will it make your car faster? No. Will it smell a little more? Yes. Will it sound a little different? Yes. I would just leave it alone and get a proper downpipe and tune to avoid the check engine light. Idk if you'll pass inspection.

I turned my soundaktor off with OBDeleven, but yea it's really really hard to tell. Even in the outside clips I took it's barely noticeable.

Great video, great recording, clean style, much appreciated.
Great video, I also have a resonator + cat delete, sounds better if you also take out the cat. Still passed emissions test btw.
I think that might be next on my to do list

How similar is this to the new Mk8 GTI. I just bought the clubsport axle back with the rear defuser. And think this would make it even better.

Rs3? You’re smoking something mate
Do you know if this would cause the car to fail NJ state inspection at a state inspection office?
I doubt it!
Thanks for the vid. Any drone when cruising?
Nope. It doesnt do much at all
i don't hear a difference so the muffler has to go ;) or get a downpipe with a decat

I need to keep a cat here in texas for emissions purposes unfortunately

How you finding your a3 ?
How long did it take you to cut through the exhaust
Not long. The pipe cutter works really well
yeah I did mine on Tuesday. you're right its just a different tone. something different to enjoy until I get a full TBE down the line
Nice vid mate. Something I would have done thinking it'd make a reasonable difference. Think this +downpipe is where its at.
I made that in my mk6 gti and i saw a diference like (20/30% better)
Wouldn´t be better to change the stock catback for an aftermarket one leaving the stock resonator?
Really just depends on what you're after. I wanted a slight increase in sound so decided to try this out.
Get the club sport muffler!!!
Would love a clubsport muffler
Clubsport muffler with resonator delete or not ?
With no downpipe you will need the res and muffler deleted
