I envy how easy the install seemed to be for you, it to me like 6 hours of struggling to get the factory downpipe out and an hour to get the new one in. I think taking the O2 sensor before uninstalling and after installation is the easiest for clearance issues like I had.
I left it on because I just couldnt get it off with my socket and ratchet. It got hung up on that lower heat shield and I ended up just ripping it out and had no problems after!
Right? I had the luxury of using a lift and it still was an ordeal; mostly getting the stock DP off the bracket and then getting it out. I'm in a 2020 with the LSD and it's a DSG so I don't know if that adds extra obstacles but I never could seem to find a video that matched what I was seeing exactly.
lmao i have a similar setup. catted downpipe and MBRP cat back.. my car fucking screams now lol basically only have a cat and straight pipes lmaooo but even on a stage 3 tune from cobb im throwing a o2 CEL
I just found your channel glad I did I just bought a mk7 yesterday after my mk6 got wrecked by a sleeping driver. Can't wait to start all these mods great channel 🙌
i did my downpipe in about 3 hours wasnt to bad at all.. i have an mk7.5 i got a catted downpipe on a stage 3 tune from cobb. still threw a code for o2 efficiency... RIP
@@ColoredinLight sorry but i dont know what a CEL is.. is it possible to get a downpipe and not get any boost? im just fine with the horse power i have... and i wanted catted because if its not catted i think it will be too much loud... thanks.
@@ColoredinLight oh yes yes but if i take that off via computer that would be it right? im thinking of the armytryx full exhaust and with valve control.. too i dont know what to do..
Does it need any additional tuning for JUST a down pipe. I’m looking to buy a gti soon. And alway enjoy it stock for a while but.. the sound it what I want.. I want to hear the turbo more..
So general advice for downpipes seems to be to get a tune alongside them, but do you need to go all the way to stage 2? Is there such thing as just a downpipe tune so you can have a downpipe on an otherwise totally stock car (without check engine light - obviously I know you can just put a downpipe on stock but I don’t want a cel)
@@ColoredinLight yeah I was gonna get catted to pass emissions tests, I was thinking of going stage 1 in the future but not yet, so is there any kind of ecu flash you can do to clear the cel rather than a full remap? Thanks for the reply btw Edit: I should say I was only getting the downpipe for exhaust tone, not performance
im on stage 3 tune from cobb with FMIC catted downpipe and catback and intake and charge pipes and turbo inlet.. even tho im tuned im still throwing a code for o2... with a catted downpipe.. just cause its catted doesnt mean your gonna pass emissions lol
nah i have a catted downpipe WITH a stage 3 OTS tune from cobb and i still have a CEL for o2.. you need a tune from a protuner.. most companies like cobb and APR are trying to go legit and comply with the laws in cali so no longerr offer stage 2 tunes OR no longer tune for downpipes.. COBBs stage 3 tune DOES tune for downpipe but you must be using there exact downpipe that has a gengi or genji cat..
dude i also have a catted DP and im on stage 3 tune from cobb OTS.. still got a CEL lolol they told me i had to run there exact setup (meaning usiung there downpipe) to not get a CEL.. they are trying to com,ply with cali.. so they are selling a downpipe with a gengi cat inside.... fuck it... called up EQT and Sneekytuned and got a 93 tune from both of them!!
If you have seen his videos before then you would know that he’s getting it ready for a tune, but also has to maintain a budget. Tunes are one of the most if not the most expensive upgrades. Great video, makes me feel better about installing my downpipe myself lol.
THAT is how it should sound stock lol!! can't wait for my downpipe!!

Great video very informative
good video man !
Would love to get one but honestly don’t think I’d be able to install it myself 😂
Car sounds good.. we’ll done
Hello, awesome video with a catted downpipe do you need a stage 1? cause i dont want to touch the ECU... thanks
If you get a downpipe you might as well go stage 2. You'll probably end up with a CEL like me

Yes with a tune
Putting on a ARM catted downpipe tomorrow, any tips or tools specifications?
Nice one, bit more bits and bobs and it will be ready for a stage 2 tune.
So @Colored In Light if i was get the downpipe, would i NEED a tune? I know i wouldn’t be able to afford it off the bat.
I would
I have a 42 draft designs catback with a res. Do you think I’d hear more turbo noise with the downpipe?
Absolutely. The downpipe is a must.
Does it need any additional tuning for JUST a down pipe. I’m looking to buy a gti soon. And alway enjoy it stock for a while but.. the sound it what I want.. I want to hear the turbo more..
If you get a downpipe you'll need to get an O2 spacer to not throw a code
If found to get a deeper throaty tone out of this platform you need a catted downpipe
Sounds good! What tune are you thinking?
Going with EQT
@@ColoredinLight good choice! I have no doubt you’ll love it. I have their DSG tune and Stage 2 91 tune. The access port is nice to have also.
I second this,I have their Stage 1 E30 Blend with their TCU and the car is a different animal when you tune it
@@secretaasiannman821 can you pass emissions with that?
Would this pass smog ??
Will i get a cel from a catted downpipe with stock exhaust?

I think it depends on the brand and if you get a catted downpipe. You can always do stage 1 tune without a downpipe at all

You should just get the downpipe and do stage 2. You're going to end up spending more money just to get by until then so might as well do it now.

Hey mhan driving a polo 1.2 tsi daily. Thinking of also doing a downpipe. (Catted) what did you do for the rest of your system???
Just a res delete
Sounds great. i cant wait for summer so I can get a GTI. Have to wait for the house to be built in Little Elm first, haha.
Does anyone know if this fits a 2022 fwd Tiguan. Been looking for a down pipe since I bought the damn thing. The ones I’ve found are for awd models.
Nice video! Where did you get those leaves all over your garage floor? I need to get some for my floor, looks so cool !! Peace
Why changed down pipe for sound only? It voids warranty
Woah that's sound so good now.. I googled atp catted donwpipe, hard to find your, but I found the high flow version, I assume its more aggressive?
It probably sounds the same as his, I believe most aftermarket catted downpipes are high flow
Yea there's really not much impeding the flow. I chose a catted one for visual inspection at the inspection station.
Hi pal,,
Does it throw any error on dash after you de-cat like engine management??
Yes
Is this just the down-pipe and stock exhaust?
No resonator but yes stock muffler
How do it drive without tune I’m thinking about it but people say I would lose power and the car would go in limp mode
Nah, the reason the light comes on is to the cat sensor. Doesn't affect driving.
@@ColoredinLight ok sounds good I was gonna get my install but this tunner was like it would mess with my car and be in limo
Mods and all dat
I’m surprised the check engine light did not come on
It did come on lol
Is your exhaust still stock? If it is, it sounds really nice with your current setup.
Just a resonator delete otherwise
@@ColoredinLight with your exhaust did u have any problems with any lights come up on the dash or did your it go into limp because of the sports cat ?
No limp mode but I got a CEL for the second o2 sensor
What county in Texas is this and does your car pass emissions ?
Passed emissions just fine without a CEL, need to get a tune or play with an O2 spacer.
Is that air type sound I hear the air intake?
Most likely
Looks so easy omg lop
It's really not too hard. On a lift it would be much easier.
did you need a tune for the downpipe
You don't need one but you should get one
Would this be a good down pipe for stage 1 and exhaust crackles and pops?
For stage 1, stick with oem and just do like a muffler delete.

Yep

With upgraded DV and an intake 240hp 300lbsft usually if you get a chip tune.

Unless you want a CEL and no performance gain, yes.
