Hi Teacher T. Thank you for an honest review, just what we were looking for. Point taken on the rain covers. putting up two holes at the bottom for all new ones. its the first time we have developed something with a pannier rack and looks like the rain cover issue slipped our attention. The bags are lined thourgh out with rainproof material. The covers help in keeping the leather intact and keeping the zips that will let water through out of the way. But we will quickly get them on everything going out now. To answer the questions on the pannier rack breaking the chasis, it wont and to answer it in more technicality, will ask Autoengina (the manufacturers of the stays). Its been well tested and doesnt snap. The cases on the himalayan are different, but its best they answer it.
Thank you Trip Machine. I really did enjoy making this video. And now I get even more looks than ever while out on the bike, with those sexy saddle bags. There is one video floating around of an Indian guy breaking both his rear shocks, and RE blaming it on his saddle bag mounts attached to the top of the suspension. This is the concerns in the comments. I think the top bolts were over tightened, and were the cause of the issue, not the racks themselves. Which is why I think it’s a good idea to issue fitting instructions including torque settings for the bolts. 🙏
Hi Sid and Teacher T, Stays are designed to be mounted on static points of the chassis and mounting brackets do not interfere with the suspension's operation. Also Attaching stays on stock suspension bolt does not compromise the axial strength of the bolts. Similar stays are currently installed on over 500 Super Meteors, and we haven't received any complaints regarding their performance.
@@Teacher-T-Thailand I guess the videos of the chasis of the new himalayan breaking due to the engine guard being mounted on the chasis. RE claims they have broken since they were mounted it where the engine is also mounted. if there is another video, would like to see it and get this done. we do have installation video on the website :)
Yes. I’m looking forward to trying to design my own rack from tubed stainless steel. And trip machine have just made a new seat. I just hope I haven’t upset them too much 😂🙏
Spectacular view of the mountains from the coffee shop. Looks like it was a fun weekend. Not really a fan of leather or canvas bags myself, precisely for the reason that water can start to seep through. It will be great if you can get the rain covers sorted. Those mounting bars do look quite sturdy, and that's a plus. Thanks for the video.
Thank you. Personally I do love the looks of the bags. And so do a lot of walkers by, as they stop in their tracks to admire the bike. They give that retro look I like. The bags are waterproof lined apparently. Some one suggested rubbing dubbin into them. Rainy season will end in a couple months, the 7 months of dry again, All the best, Thanks for watching 🙏
Hi Mr. T. Another great video and review. One thought i have for regular use involves the belt and buckles for adjusting the bags' cover is to use plastic snap clips instead of fiddling with the buckles each time.
Great idea. These bags have a very clever quick release hidden under the belt. You can still adjust the length, but not have to bother with buckles all the time. Thanks for watching 🙏
On this trip it was 2 cordless drills with batteries and chargers, for the weight. I probably only need one bag for my daily needs. 2 for when the wife ever decides to travel with me 😂🙏 Many thanks
Nice video. Looking forward to your review of Hagons shocks. Two things, firstly I would look into those saddle mounts. Someone made a video on RUclips on how their suspension broke and it has a lot to do with mounting things on that suspension point. And lastly, those are not the Himalayas. If they are then so are the mountains of central Asia. Those are just some small hills.
Thanks. Yep saw that video. The rack system they used was warped 180 degrees around the bike, and very close to the original suspension, which we all know bottoms out. I’ve a,ready done a review of the Hagons : ruclips.net/video/1h1J09k1xww/видео.htmlsi=CRlzIRIFaES0pCba. And the mountain ranger is locally called the foothills of the Himalayas. It was tongue and cheek, and I was chuckling each time I said it 😂🙏
Would’ve liked a rear view camera shot to see how far the bags stick out. I’ve seen some mounts that are far wider than they need to be. Great quality as is all their stuff.
Great vid as ever. Your passing reference to the inexpensive Hagons sounds like they're working out. The Trip Machine bags do look the business on the S Meteor, but of course they need to sort out the rain covers. I would have thought a completely enveloping w.proof bag with w.proof zip for closure, and a vertical slot aperture with Velcro to accommodate the metal frame might work better. Your vids make me miss the North so much!
Thank you. Yes the Hagons have helped greatly. I suppose I should try YSS also, as they are made here in Thailand. But can never correspond with them here. Velcro and 4 sides will probably make the covers too bulky to store, and take room away from storage. That was real monsoon rain for over 2 hours. I will try the holes in the bottom this weekend. I just hope I haven’t annoyed my sponsor lol 🙏
Very nice review. The saddlebags do look nice on the Super Meteor, but for everyday functionality and security I am sticking with my lockable Shad SH23 hard bags. A comparison of the Hagon vs YSS rear shocks would make a great video. I would think that since you already have the Hagons, YSS should be more than willing to provide you with a set of their shocks to review if they truly believe that they justify costing twice as much.
Ahhh yes sorry. It was my Pun, and my thinking, that the way the saddle bags work, I think they are more of a pannier, than a saddle bag. I hope to see the plastic panniers soon, but the room inside them looks very limited from what videos I’ve seen. 🙏

Good honest review thanks. They look the part and look well made but for me they are a failure, as you pointed out the rain covers are hopeless , rain proofing this type of luggage is always a problem so that and the fact they are not lockable rules them out for me, shame as they look good

My thought is that the way to protect from rain while parked up is to carry a water proof bike cover, whole or half, and throw it on the bike while parked. Also, anything critical absolutely must be kept in a true water proof bag inside the pannier. Otherwise, you are asking for disaster.
