- Finally got time to do an SRG review on the Thrusmaster T300RS GT edition kit. Overall a competent FFB and Pedal solution for the intended market segment. No game stopping issues.

Me: Expects a generic review and basic overview of the wheel and some gameplay.
This guy: Literally informs me about every nut and bolt in the product and how it functions.
Awesome? Right? God bless this man....
"Expects a generic review and basic overview of the wheel and some gameplay." Surely you missed the point of this channel; being a garage :-)
This is actually pretty pretty cool that he does it like that
It's 2023 and as someone who has a unit, this DETAILED review is great to have around if you need to service or take the unit apart to make some minor repairing..etc. Thank you.
Just a heads up on a T300 feature, If you press ST and Mode buttons together you turn on forced cooling mode so the wheel wont get as hot when using the wheel. This disables the automatic fan speed control and is great for long racing stints but the fan will generate a little more noise.
ace tip. thank you. mine is in the mail now and i will likely always run it like that, and probably replace the fan down the road via help from this great video.
Will this pretty much guarantee no failures from overheating?
Do you have to do this every time you turn it on?
@Paul S Were is the mode button on the wheel?

It's nice to see someone that uses high end gear give a balanced review of a more modestly priced setup. In many cases where people step up to more expensive gear (not just in sim racing) you'll hear sentiments like "I couldn't go back to something like this" or "It's like a toy compared to X". Good job.
Exactly. Whenever I’m about to buy something I check here first. I bought the tr8 trakracer because of his reviews.
Well said . These are what I call sim lawyers, they think they know it all ,before forgetting that they were once beginner's
I love how there no annoying music in the background of this vid it’s just his voice and quiet, it better than music in a vid
This is literally THE FIRST review where someone decides to look inside of the wheel and give us HONEST opinion about FFB and build quality of this Thrustmaster product!
or u pay 50 euro more for a gt wheel and a 100+ euro t3pa.i agree,though,thrustmaster is a joke.when the t300 first released,they had so many problems,its a joke.300 dollar product and that many problems,really.

I'm looking for a wheel right now. You wrote that Thrustmaster is having some problems with that wheel. I want to know what your choice is.
I love you getting OPEN the device and take a detailed look into the real design - THAT´s the way I wish to see every product review!! You are the BEST! By far
One of the best reviews I've ever seen! Very detailed. Congratulations!
This was an *amazing* video.
Being in the market this explained a lot of things.
Thank you.
Great to see the best sim gear reviewer on the internet cover a more attainable product! Hope you do some others!
Yes, I'll be reviewing more "attainable" hardware moving forward.
It's great to see your view on more mainstream products, considering you have experienced the very best that there is. Plus, more SRG videos is always a good thing!
He has a great radio voice! And his reviews are flawless yet effortless!
Was looking for a deep review of T300RS for a month and finally you have made it.
Thank you!
Yes I’m glad I made it my first wheel purchase! I have been very happy with it! I have the alcantera Ferrari T300rs
T3pa pro add on with load cell add on
Tr8 trakracer and oculus vr.
I frigggggin love this hobby hahahah
@@mrcontroversy222 you can use the wheel with oculus?
So detailed, thanks a lot for your insight. I learn things from your breakdowns that I don't from any other reviewers.
Nice to see you review a more mainstream product. You really are the best, most thorough sim racing related reviewer. Also I really enjoy the increased amount of videos. Good job man!
Zack B well said! Keep up Barry!
Thank for including the pedal disassembly. For those that do not want to use the clutch this clearly shows how the clutch can be removed and the brake can then be moved to the clutch position on the left if more spacing between gas and brake is desired.
That's the level of content we want to be seeing. Incredible review, thanks!
Very well done. Thank you for taking the time to go into great detail about this wheel. I really enjoy watching your review videos to help me make a good decision on what to spend my money on.
I have been umming and ahhing about what wheels and racing products to get. You have the most in depth and concise reviews I have seen and they are very helpful. Thanks!
Incredibly informative, thanks for helping me feel better about the value of this setup and pull the trigger on this starter purchase.
You have done a great video on this, ive watched loads and none give anywhere near the amount of product info that you do, excellent job and well done ;)
Great video man, honest, technical, no BS, love it! Keep it up!
I have the RS version and like it. I did buy a replacement cooling fan to have on hand just in case I need one and to limit down time if I ever need it. The fans are cheap enough. I do like reviews on equipment that I can actually afford. I trust your reviews the most because you go the extra mile to get into the nuts and bolts to see how things actually work. Keep up the awesome reviews! Your channel is a great asset to the sim community!
WOW! I’m was really amazed at the In depth review...this really helped me in making my decision on what to get for my simulator.. thank you for taking the time to make a well thorough review!
Hands down the best review I've come across! Thanks!
Thanks for the detailed review. I’ve had this wheel for 18 months now and it hasn’t missed a beat. Good to know the ins and outs of the hardware.
Hey there not sure if you will see this, but i'm thinking of buying this will but see a lot of complaint about it breaking after a few months of use. How is it working for you?
Paulo Silva mine is solid and still as good as the day I bought it. My son now has it on his first sim rig. I highly recommend it 👍🏻
I just bought one. I like how it has a larger wheel.
Still watching the video but stopped for a moment just to say : excellent review! All reviews should be done like this!
Excellent deep and instructional review of the T300, very interesting to watch. Thank you for doing this.
his neighbor in 10 years: is that a spaceship?
yeah it was a rather simple affair to put one together. a little hot glue, reinforced plastic, and a few molex connectors. i used an old simracing wheel and a ion negative ion generator combined with a ballon and a refrigerator. i had all the parts in my garage.
Great review and thank you for taking it apart to explain in detail.
Barry, thanks for making this video. I have a T500 and always wondered what it looked like on the inside but was not mechanically inclined enough to take it apart. I was afriad I wouldn't be able to get it back together..lol. Great job!!
Man I’m watching this video again to learn how to fix the wheel, and I can’t help but saying you have a wonderful television radio voice!!!!
Great stuff...top reviews...nice and chilled to listen to when working from home during the Corona-virus pandemic lol
Brilliant overview. Thank you Barry.
I'm taking apart my T300RS for the third time now (twice the wheelbase and once the pedals) to fix stuff. Every time I come back to this video to get the instructions. Very helpful every time!
Still survive? How long u had use it?
@@poseidondredd It's not very old; I got it about a year ago. I had to fix a squeaky throttle pedal with some lube and had to replace the USB cable with a USB-B connector since our bunny chewed the cord.
Thank you so much for the detailed review.. Now i got my New T300RS GT edition..
Very professional video, thoroughly enjoyed it!

i bought this wheel based on your review barry. and it has been excellent so far. i will be looking at your reviews of sim rigs and direct drive sim setup when the time comes. thanks for your excellent instructive videos and help in making correct choices.
@Metallimies how's it?
you liking the T300? Is worth it?
I'm thinking getting one for my PS5 to play GT SPORT and the upcoming GT 7
Can you feel the car nicely, and feel when you about to lose the control of the car so you can correct it?
if you can give me your feedback of the wheel it would be much appreciated
Earned a sub, just for the radio voice! By the way, getting to understand what goes on under the hood is awesome too!
First time I see someone doing a real review.
Very Nice.
Thorough review, great job and thanks.
The most thorough teardown and review of the product so far. Incredible.
Time is strange. Looking for my first wheel. This video has great information!
@@chrislive1586 if I can give you a recommendation there is one thing that you have to decide: if you are planning to learn drifting or dirt racing or not. If your answer is yes, avoid buying a gear driven wheel and opt for a belt driven wheel like the t300/tx/fanatec csl elite.
@@beseakos I want a HUGE Kickback and Force Feedback like... Arcade-style Racing Sims.
I'm seeing Gear + Belt - Looks like Belt is better.
Honestly, I saw a friend's Microsoft G920 and it looked... "NEAT" but ... weak? I mean the wheels "takes control" from you with Forcefeedback, but it doesn't "Pull you" or "Drag you" with very much Force. I assume USB can't create force without an A/C adapter.
I'm looking at the $250 wheels out there, but I'll wait 6-12 months and pay $1200 for a good high-quality wheel with HEAVY Force-Feedback.
Looked at Microsoft, the Thrust Master, Hori, so far it looks like, "Fanatec" is King and might be the way to go?
But even then, I"m afraid their $400 or $600 still won't pack the "punch" I'm looking for.
@@chrislive1586 Both the G920 and G29 has a wall adapter, it’s just with the gear driven systems there will always be some deadzone and the amount of force feels like a toy compared to other wheels. The belt + gear wheels are also solid but they are just as weak and cloggy as the gear driven ones. Your options are pretty much always going to be limited to belt driven systems for now. Direct drive makes little to no sense as an entry point and they require a solid aluminium profile rig to begin with. While a gear driven wheel can be table mounted, or mounted on a wheelstand (if space is a concern). As for arcade-style sims, you really shouldn’t go any further than a T300RS or TX leather. The ~6nm torque it provides is plenty enough and has a much more direct and smooth feeling than the gear driven ones with their 2,5nm output that is translated through 2 small motors and a pair of helical gears onto the main gear that drives the wheel. For a $400 wheel the g29/920/923 is not a good deal if you want strength.
As for fanatec: the CSL elite has great amount of support both for PC and Console but the pricepoint is a lot higher and the pedals absolutely have to be upgraded, which is not very cheap. I wouldn’t personally buy one for consoles if you didn’t have the extra to spare for the loadcell brake mod.
I discovered your channel via this review, and I like your professionalism :=)
Great review as always Barry my friend.
This is by far the best review I’ve seen on a steering wheel and pedals! Thanks! Also, I’m just getting into racing sims, and was wondering if this is a good wheel/pedals to start with?
This is some really helpful info thank you so much! I ordered the pedals used on ebay and they were squeaking like mad, dirty as hell. I got a really good price on them so I thought meh and cleaned it out, applied some new grease and now it works and looks like new!
Such a great review! 😁
I receive mine tomorrow. Upgraded from T150 to T300RS GT. Super exited!

You described what I hope to get from this upgrade, considering also that for the last 2 months I've been playing GT Sport, for the first time, with a controller, getting very good result.
Going back to a steering wheel will hopefully improve even more my times.
I'll definitely go for the Rs GT, currently €320 here in Germany.

Wow, what a review and what a voice! Enjoyed every second of it. Thanks for the detailed look under the hood 👍
This wheel is still popular in 2020. Just ordered the RS GT Model. Can't wait to test it out.

Very interesting review as always
Very nice review! The detailed tear down was very interesting to me, I've owned a TX300 Leather Edition for 1,5 years now and always wondered what's in these things. Now I know! You sure do outstanding reviews! =)
The pedals are the weak point, but if you've ever seen the impressive driving of TheFlyingFinn08 driving F1 2017 with only the basic two-pedal set in the lower price models, without any conical mod, then you feel that skill comes before hardware (up to a point of course =)
Great review as always.
I always come to SRG when I’m needing info, wanting to purchase some new sim stuff, or just learn more bout sim racing. Always very informational. So again thank you.
As I own the T300 RS/GT I am curious what the removable tab at top of wheel housing is removable for? Thanks
That's some quality review.
Just really well done review
Would love to have THIS Setup :D Review the RS Ferrari Edition, Love it !
Ferrari Edition FTW!
Incredible review!
Barry, I recently discovered your channel and have watched several of your vids and the production quality and thorough nature of your reviews is incredible. I have this particular wheel and pedal set currently (Leather edition) for the xBox but I can figure out how to access the "Thrustmaster" wheel setting, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could clue me in on how to do that. Great job Sir.
Great review. Thank you
He's the Bob Ross of Sims. Relaxing to watch, happy little screws.
love your reviews on wheels its making me want to get into racing on my pc even more. i really want to get a kit for F1 2018 and in the future other more sim like racing titles. but with all the researching im doing its making it even harder to decide if i should go with something like the t300 rs gt or go all out with like the fanatec forza motorsports bundle. would love your input on this.
also keep up the great work you gained me as a subscriber cant wait to see more =)

I use a T-GT II myself so bought one of these on ebay to give to my nephew and looks like a really solid starter wheel for sure.

only at the 5 minute mark, but I can tell that is REALLY in depth!
Thank you for the really good review information. In particular, there are subtitles in Korean, so even those who do not know English could get good information
Hi, excellent video! I just bought a loadcell kit from Richmotech, apparently for the T-500 and T3PA PRO, but have the T3PT-GT which are exactly the same as the T3P-GT's. Unfortunately they're a no go with the T3PGT and T3PT-GT. The metal plate won't fit in the housing because it's too long. Do you have any suggestions or any solutions for this? I greatly appreciate your time and effort... I am currently using the Thrustmaster T-GT which is definitely a great wheel for GT Sport, it however is barely a step up from the T300RS when used as a standalone wheel base for PC or PS4 because there's no support outside of GT Sport for the transducer and the other feature "T-LIN" or linearity. Again thank you!
Finally I found my T300 review, I can see it inside. I bought this wheel almost 3 or 4 years ago and still works perfect. Only thing I have done was replace pedal set. Thanks for review.
Did you drive aggressive with it?
@@fettaheker not really but depends on the games.
@@antonpaco I'm afraid of cracking my wheel that I will buy in the future of spinning it too fast from left to right
@@fettaheker I bought the wheel in 2014 and still works fine. Don't be afraid, it is a strong wheel.
It’s great wheel
I recently got this wheel as my first racing wheel. I do like it a lot, but I do have the same mount issue. I have a glass top desk with a metal bar that runs right where the wheel would mount. My other two issues are the wheel mounted shifters, and my power cord looses connection sometimes. I still like the wheel a lot though. I've only played Project Cars 2 (in VR) so far, I haven't noticed any delay issues at all. I was actually surprised at how spot on everything was.
I love this wheel so does my 4 year old. Works fantastic in Cars I and II.
Nice channel you got there!
Thanks Bob Ross! Great video
Very very nice review! Thank you. 😁
I had a beginner wheel in the mid-90s when NFS was popular.
It was cheap and only lasted about 50 hours before giving out.
Perhaps I will give this one a try for my 60th B-day in April?
Thank you for not making me feel old, as somebody born in the 70's it is nice to know we exist us older gamers, a lot to be said for age.. Very good review, i find it hard to slate games today, when I grew up with Indy 500 on Atari and Pong in black n white hell even Astro Wars took batteries. Galaxians was real life gfx to me. Keep up the good work. P.S I bought a T300 Alcantara setup and im happy could have gone Fanatec but not a priority just paid the mortgage off and was brought up to not spend that much.. But T300 is fantastic for a simmer who wants more than joypad and isn't pro sim. I took mine apart and upgraded the Pots and dual fitted my bluetooth mouse inline as Left mouse = clutch, middle potention meter (scroll wheel) mouse (best for stiffness) = brake and accelerator is mouse right button, with a switch to turn them off. It comes in handy for other games.. Alot of flight sims wont let you use clutch and accel as rudder. So by fitting scroll wheel to 2 feeds switched on clutch and accel can be done. I next want to fit a trackball with smaller ball (marble size) in center of wheel. One thing the t300 as going for it is dual belt i prefer belt to direct drive( i know im the exception) but horses for courses) not to mention how noisy they can be if midnight gaming when family in bed.. Ive rigged a blutooth keyboards tiny m/board (minus key board) to 4"x 2" plug board with a mouse sockets too for any control mapping custom key/mouse input switch, diy shifter and handbrake etc(like a telephone exchange) ill send you plans and a finsihed board if you want, free or plans to anyone interested on comments. Allows buttons that are plugged in to always be recognised by games without drivers.
Scoop... Very good reply. Interesting how much you know/figured out to modify it to improve it's capabilities.
What a thoroughly interesting video
You mention a coming review of the load cell mod, did you do it? I couldn't find it :-/
WOW thats what you call a review!
In addition the the cooling mode update that Paul posted you should also give it 10-15min to cool after a race session. I wrote a .bat file for my sim machine with a desktop shortcut to automatically shut it down after 15mins. I had one of these go bad a little over a year old and I think the issue was I would race then shut the computer down and the wheel's innards would heat soak because the fan turns off.
Just got one from Amazon plus TH8A shifter, everything are better than my previous G29! Thanks 🙏
The mode button is for inverted pedals ;)
memories created
I thought to buy T3PA Pro pedals because of the inverted pedals mode. Have this pedals that option? In my country this model are on offer and its cheaper than to buy T3PA Pro and t300 wheel base separately.
Thank you and sorry for my english.

@@seth2413 sorry for the delay. It is absolutely an upgrade. The pedals aren’t anything special but the wheel is worth it 100%
Thanks for a great review, I think this wheel will work great for ATS.
Just started watching your stuff and subscribed. Thank you for taking the time in doing what your doing with this channel. You're one cool cat. I have one question for you, would you think it's a diminishing gain to swtich from TX racing wheel to the entry level Fanatec?
Great review as always Barry. I have a question. Beginning at 50:34 in the video... what is the source of the video in the lower right hand corner? Is that a second monitor or is it in the game?
Great video,I have t150 thinking of getting the t300
I bought a used T300 with no Power cable, threw that psu away and replaced the whole thing with a Laptop power brick and it's been awesome ever since, well worth the 80 British pounds I paid for it.
May I ask which PSU? Having trouble sourcing a 32.5v
Same question... I'ld like to do that too so it doesn't overheat anymore
Barry... So informative without the hype. Calm and logical. Keep up the great work.
I'm an old guy wanting to get back into sim racing after a very long layoff (GPL back in the day). After research, I've decided I don't have room in our condo w/ small computer room to fit a wheel stand like the Next Level Racing 'DD' model. My setup would be right at my PC computer desk w/ my high-end 27" Acer gaming monitor and self-built very fast PC.
So, for now, I'm just going to attach an entry level wheel/pedals to my desk and go iRacing I guess. If you have any ideas for me, I'd appreciate it. I'm leaning to the Logi-G29 at this point. Thanks again.
(Computer rig: Asus MB, Intel 9900K CPU oc'd to 4.6Ghz, and nVidia 2080ti graphics card, etc.)
Absolutely
Good computer bro!
great video man.
Great review. Appreciate your work. Open question to all . Is this too much of a wheel for a very casual racing game player? I can afford it but for someone that might use it once a week it might be too much.
Very good review
You know when Barry reviews even the most mundane hardware, you're in for a masterpiece hour long documentary about it 😏
i have a question , there is an adapter from ricmotech that allows you to plug logitech g29 pedals directly to the t300 wheel base , after that g29 pedals resolution goes up to 10 bit but what about the known curve of the g29 brake pedal ? does this goes away and makes breaking more linear ?
The MODE button is for the pedals. If you use the T3PA pedals or the non-inverted pedal mode on the T3PA Pro, leave it RED.
If you have the INVERTED pedals on the T3PA Pro, press and hold for 2 seconds, then it should be GREEN.
Just picked up the T300 to get more into racing and stumbled on your review, then I happened to peep the MFG Crosswind pedals on the wall and knew I had the right guy. I don't know if you've modified your rudders yet, but I suggest the dampener kit and to change out the stock pedal faces, I'm using the cessna replicas. Funny enough I have actually been using my crosswinds mounted upside down to a vertical face to turn them into a gas/brake. Thanks for the in depth review, I'll definitely be upgrading the pedals first, but this looks like a decent way to get more into it.
Nice job! Want to see you loadcell mod opinion. Also some ppl do magnet shifter mod. Can you look into that?
