This serve is one of the best serves because in a advanced level and i exprienced alot of tournaments you can use this serve against pro players so you can attack first.

    Awesome tutorials!
I am currently learning this serve but I am struggling hard to get it parallel (into the short forehand of the opponent). Can you please explain what exactly is the difference in your motion when you do this serve parallel opposed to diagonal? I try to just rotate my upper body, but there is too much energy in the ball so that it goes into the net.

Great question! You can do it by rotating your body more but it's dangerous because it'll add more motion to the stroke and it will be harder to keep the serve short. You also have a shorter distance when you serve parallel down the line opposed to diagonally cross court. There are 2 other ways I recommend serving parallel.
      1. Try serving it without sidespin. Your back swing will start further from your body and the stroke will be a straight line toward the target. This is also a good method for generating a heavy backspin serve because all your energy will be going underneath the ball instead of underneath and on the side of the ball the way it would for a sidespin backspin. I use this from time to time to mix up the spin and it works well to all targets.
      2. Serve it with sidespin but change the angle of the racket so it points more toward the parallel target. This is a more traditional way of doing it. You'll lose a little bit of the backspin with this method but the sidespin will be stronger. You can also combine this with the body rotation you mentioned but be sure to really brush the ball so it doesn't go long.
Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes or if you have more questions regarding the serve!

@@TableTennisJunkie Thank you very much for the reply! I managed to do the parallel serve by keeping my body rotated during the whole motion and hitting the ball closer to the edge of the table. Also your 2nd tip worked for me, so I have now two different variations which is cool :-) (also tried to do the 1st thing, but I found this very difficult and could not do it consistently)

what do you do if they drop it really short on your forehand side?
No way to reach there if you're getting ready to attack with forehand from your backhand side.

Hey Joey! I’m trying to perfect this serve so it can be a main serve of mine. What do you mean that the opponent is going to “drop” it? Is that a different kind of push?

Drop means touch or short push. If you watch the world elite (all Chinese), they play a lot of short pushing rallies with one another - it's a great skill they have to "drop" the ball just over the net.

i get this video...but i have trouble getting good backspin on the ball...any ideas?

i dont see you getting more momentum/speed on the bat by turning your body (using the body, the torso, to generate spin). is this just the wrist and arm?

Agree! The ball is moving 2-3 feet horizontally, that's not vertical in my mind
