I agree with that one part of the video where he says the clones were basically the American soldiers in the Vietnam war and the Umbarans were like the Viet Kong soldiers in the Vietnam war with the hell like forest landscape that is all unknown, the guerilla warfare where they were in trees flanking and sneaking up on them, the jungle having some wildlife that can prove dangerous, all we needed was the gunships to start blasting Fortunate Son and then you have the Star Wars The Clone Wars Tv Series x The Vietnam war (oh just make the Umbarans communists too then you have it for sure)
It was even more hectic with mutinies and low morale within the clones ranks making it more like Vietnam, and the Pong Krell betrayal I guess was similar to all the stuff Nixon apparently did and didn't do
This is why I like the inhibitor chip explanation for order 66. In the old canon the 501st was specifically made to be better than other clones. Here, they're the best through determination and skill. In the old canon surviving this wouldn't have meant much because they were bred to.
Same. He cares about his men so much, we should have at least gotten an acknowledgement. If not in the last episode, then at the beginning of the next one.

The only unit I could think of who could also do this would be the 21st Galactic Marines. The same unit that went hand to hand with B2 Battledroids and won
I gotta say, this was one of the battle's that always rubbed me the wrong way, as I guess it's supposed to. The jedi leading a battle to take back a planet for political reasons seemed a problem. Of course the clones would have been trained to find living enemies too, but Umbara is one of the first where they have to fight humanoid enemies (unlike Geonosis). They were just defending their home, and the Jedi were invading, to me, a perfect example of the Jedi starting to fall from their peacekeeper ways
Let’s help Jesse and boil stop suffering their comrades death, let’s give them hope and a reminder that clones are hero’s that after order 66 some still were good

That's kind of shitty writing, also, are you telling me that starwars has nothing similar to radar and altimeters? kauske Well, The Last Jedi had the genius idea of introducing Hyperspace Kamikaze. Which battles and other wars and conflicts millenniums before the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War, should’ve been over within a few battles. I would take this form of “shitty writing” over TLJ any day.
@@giovannyalpizar5351 That's actually good writing, it's the one sensical thing they did. If you can accelerate objects to high fractions of the speed of light, and don't weaponize it, quite frankly, you're a moron. Forget deathstars, launch asteroids at relativistic speeds. Cheaper, and much harder to stop. You can't even really see it coming, if it's going fast enough. SW was silly nonsense from the beginning, written by people who's only notion of war was very early WWII, and even then, they had a poor grasp on it.
kauske But it made sense when it was made back in 79’. How about the fact that the First Order couldn’t catch up to them despite the Resistance having lost that fuel during the chase? An object in space should not be going faster if they do not have some form of power to propel said object. The FO should have reached them in a matter of minutes once the Resistance had no fuel. This isn’t lightspeed, but it has to have some form of common sense in physics. Umbarans and the arc is still better since, in fiction, their technology is highly advanced. And the atmosphere might be a little different. Who knows.
@@giovannyalpizar5351 Radar was in use in WWII, including plane-mounted radar for use finding altitude, and enemies. By 1979 we had advanced guided missiles, night vision, radar altimeters and a whole lot more. As I said, issues landing in the dark were solved around the 50's. Radar passes through a lot more materials than the visible part of the EM spectrum as well, including clouds and fog, hence why radar altimeters on bombers were a game-changer over optical bom sights in WW2. Any cursory glance at how combat works in 1979 should have informed the writers. But they wanted to take fighter combat from 1942 and earlier for reasons unknown. SW has always had a terrible grasp on space physics and technology as a whole.
About 4 years ago, I had no love for starwars, however, the umbara episodes of TCW made me fucking love it, and they still stand to be my favourite episodes of all time
I think this just proves anakin's ability to lead and the trust he placed in is fellow soldiers. If you only his ability to lead so good without fear followed him as vader
A big reason why they one: While most of the 501st were doing heavy work, Rex was good enough to lead them, along with Anakin. Yeah they had flood lights, made them stand out, but the Jedi were able to push past the laser fire.
Am i the only one who wants to see a graphic novel series about the 501st legion and what they went through on Felucia and Umbara? It would even show a more human side to them where they try to boost their morale while sitting around a campfire by say...telling jokes or singing songs. They may not have any fear but they may have been exhausted by the constant fighting
One can even see that Pong Krell has fallen by his lightsaber style. He uses double bladed sabers, which are seen as more dangerous and less elegant than normal sabers frequently because they’re harder to control. Krell doesn’t have much saber control, like Sidious during the maul/savage duel, he will slice through anything in his saber’s path, and at times make a point to do lightsaber damage to more than the intended living target
Definitely one of the best arcs for sure but I came to the conclusion after watching it when it came out that they only survived honestly because it was written that way. In a Star Wars reality at best they would have been War hero’s who would’ve for surly have died in that battle. Love the show and this video is awesome. So I hope that we get more of these arcs in the future Star Wars universe because even tho the olds are clearly one sided it’s always great to see the depth and artistry they put into these intense battles

The 212th were beasts during Umbara. They single handedly took the capital and they helped catching Krell. Really underestimated and under appreciated during this battle.
There's another factor you missed. The genetic traits built in to make the clone troopers more willing to obey any order. Overcoming this to stop Krell, let alone execute him, required steel the clones weren't meant to have at all.

“Clone ingenuity” as the video shows a clone stupidly running up to Krell and getting sliced in half
I wanna see the 212th perspective of this battle
Chilly Chonger same
YES. It’s easy to forget, but the 212th won this battle. They captured the capital. Krell captured a supply base but that’s about it since the 501 were too busy getting killed. I just want to see more of obi wan and Cody. I feel like the only episode of that we got was the ryloth one from season one and it was really good. We need more of that

“They won because of clone ingenuity!” Shows a clone running into a cyclone of neon death
Theory time- Skywalker didn't need to go to Coruscant. It seems totally random, and is never explained. I theorize that Krell purposely called Skywalker away, probably forcing him into the blockade. According to Kenobi at the start, Krell was already at the Battle. When they're going over the plan before deploying, Kenobi says something like "Jedi Masters Krell and Tiflar will attack the capital from the north, while Anakin's Battalion attacks from the central route."
Ever since I can remember I’ve always loved the 501st. They’re my favorite! When I was little, I didn’t pay attention to most of the strategical and tactical stuff, as I didn’t understand it. I called them “blue stormtroopers” and always re watched scenes with them in it. I haven’t seen an episode of the clone wars since 2nd grade and recently I’ve come back to it, and it’s amazing. The nostalgia is a great feeling and now I actually know what they’re actually called. My childhood revolves around Star Wars, it has been and always will be in a special place in my heart.

Dang. Krell’s character is super cool. 4 arms, and double bladed light sabers, he’s basically a completely organic Grievous. Shame he was such an asshole.

I have never felt so calm while listening to the literal decimation of troops. The music and his voice is amazing.

Yes, yes he did
This episode was so emotionally painful for me that I can't even watch it a second time yet.

I wonder how the Galactic marines would be able to win here. I guess they were better choice for this mission.
The beginning of Umbara and the battle of Geonosis 2 reminded me so much of D-Day. It just brought that vibe. Showing how as soon as they deploy they get shot.

The creature posed a clear and present danger to all the surrounding clones in the heat of a battle. The 501 were in a live fire fight and a thing started eating them. Yeah, you’re going to kill it before it eats you or you get shot cause you’re trying to dig up your friend
Ya, damn, first time I watched it I didn't know Rex has full plot armor and I really thought those are the episodes he dies in
Hardcase was definitely my favorite 501st trooper. His death was really depressing.
Some one may have said this one Galactic Marines
I agree with that one part of the video where he says the clones were basically the American soldiers in the Vietnam war and the Umbarans were like the Viet Kong soldiers in the Vietnam war with the hell like forest landscape that is all unknown, the guerilla warfare where they were in trees flanking and sneaking up on them, the jungle having some wildlife that can prove dangerous, all we needed was the gunships to start blasting Fortunate Son and then you have the Star Wars The Clone Wars Tv Series x The Vietnam war (oh just make the Umbarans communists too then you have it for sure)
It was even more hectic with mutinies and low morale within the clones ranks making it more like Vietnam, and the Pong Krell betrayal I guess was similar to all the stuff Nixon apparently did and didn't do
Love your Clone Wars content!!
Same
This is why I like the inhibitor chip explanation for order 66. In the old canon the 501st was specifically made to be better than other clones. Here, they're the best through determination and skill. In the old canon surviving this wouldn't have meant much because they were bred to.

Around 5:20 there's a line repetition. Good vid regardless, and the Umbaran arc is one of the best.
If any other clone unit could I think it would’ve been the wolf pack

>Clone helmets have night vision.
>Gunships piloted by clones, in clone helmets need flood lights to land.
That's kind of shitty writing, also, are you telling me that starwars has nothing similar to radar and altimeters?
Real life helicopter gunships make landings in the dark plenty without visual aid using technology we developed in the 50's.
Fiction does not excuse a break in logic.
kauske Well, The Last Jedi had the genius idea of introducing Hyperspace Kamikaze.

A big reason why they one: While most of the 501st were doing heavy work, Rex was good enough to lead them, along with Anakin. Yeah they had flood lights, made them stand out, but the Jedi were able to push past the laser fire.
Hello there
general kenobi!
The battle of Umbara story arc is one of the best story arc.
Rest In Peace, Waxer.
We Will Never Forget.
The best Star Wars arc of all time. Love my brothers
