Krell probably could have survived the order if he wasn't found out and killed during the Umbara campaign.
Poor Plo Koon though, shot by his own men while flying a starfighter. The clones might not be expendable to him, but they also didn't have a choice in the matter.

I'm not sure how well known this is, but in Star Wars the blaster bolt color is determined by the quality of ammo used. Red was cheapest, weakest, and most common. Blue was more powerful, and often used for anti-armor/machinery. Green was much more powerful than the other two, but also too expensive to outfit most armies. This is why some of the Umbaran shots actually go through clones, like at 4:20 and 9:39

Interesting fact about clone armor (Im pretty sure from what I remember. I might be wrong):
Near the start of the war they wore Phase 1 Clone Armor. Very sturdy and strong, so when a clone was shot by a blaster bolt, it'd spread the energy across the body. That would save a lot of clones, as the shot wouldn't exactly kill but instead knock out clones. But it was very uncomfortable.
So in the Phase 2 armor, it was made more comfortable, though at a cost of protection. Clones in Phase 2 are probably dead when they shot. Oh and Phase 2 had more modification abilities and better tech, I believe.

I also recently rewatching the umbaran arc and it was still as heartbreaking and hate filled it's even worse when I knew what krell was doing.
Also another thing that I realized was that hardcase sacrificed himself so that his brothers could live to fight another day, just for Jesse and fives to be court marshalled and executed by the soldiers they fought for. (If they did it) Gut punching realization.

Umbarans ARE actually able to breathe air, as seen in Palpatine's close associate Sly Moore, and senator Mee Deechi. The masks and gases that are in them are made to help the soldiers stay awake, basically like a constant supply of gaseous coffee, so they would be more effective in battle and be able to carry out their surprising ambushes.

About the guy who trips and falls dramatically. I imagine that in the heat of battle, when you probably don't entirely know what it is that just hit you. So he may have just tripped but in the moment he probably wasn't sure if he just got shot. Imagine the panic. I'd probably do the same in all honesty.

For anyone who cares, the Umbarans CAN breathe the Umbaran air, their mask pumps a combat stim into their airways to make them fight better, hence the green gas that escapes when their mask is cracked
