Random Non-Star-Wars Related Fun Fact: the term "Sharpshooter" dates all the way back to the days of the black powder muskets. The most accurate musket was the well known and revered "Sharps" Rifle. So when a job required marksmanship, people would call for a "Sharps Shooter" meaning a person that owned and fired a sharps rifle.

Did any faction continuously research and develop projectile weapon(slug thrower) technology? The reason I ask this is because the much higher potential muzzle velocity and aerodynamics of a solid projectile results in a much higher maximum effective range for a weapon which of course would be very beneficial for a sniper.
While I do agree that the Trandoshans definitely used slugs a bit I know the Wookies definitely used them to. Generally slugthrowers or what we would consider guns were seen as primitive weapons like we see the bow and arrow. However almost all the slugs I've seen don't really look like they're better than our modern guns (Let alone at the Mass Effect or Halo level.) so they never really better developed them or mass produce them. They seem more "Rugged and home made" if you will.
@@mill2712 Blasters do you have a relatively low muzzle velocity resulting in a relatively low maximum effective range. While they would be very effective in a closed quarters battle, a good slugthrower that was developed would have far superior muscle velocity thus would be far more effective at long range.
